Ione: HP = 65, PP = 42, EP = 79, Status = Fine

NPC Stats
Mandragora: HP = 50, PP = 42, EP = 86, Status = Fine
Clarissa: HP = 72, PP = 46, EP = 46, Status = Fine
Arthur: HP = 51, PP = 66, EP = 67, Status = Fine
Sivi: HP = 35, PP = 50, EP = 55, Status = Fine

"Of course," Sivi said when Ione asked to lie beside her, Mandragora shifting to give her space without even needing to be asked. The other alraune's somewhat restless sleep wouldn't seemingly disturb any of her companions, though when she awoke Mandragora would give her an odd look for a minute before disentangling from her.

The group would collect themselves for breakfast, eating in haste before heading on their way. Ione's lessons would start that day, and over the course of it her magical abilities would improve significantly thanks to his efforts. Mandragora would avoid her for the entire day, and as dusk was falling and they were looking for a place to bed down for the night they came upon a single wagon with a woman sitting by it, a bent old crone with wrinkled purple skin and pointed ears, her emerald hair stringy and faded with age. She turned deep blue eyes up at them as the odd group, offering nothing but a chuckle and an inviting wave of her arm, signalling for them to join them. Arthur and Clarissa seemed dubious, but Sivi took her offer without question, and Mandragora followed without question.

The woman proved to be mute, communicating in sign language that Sivi seemed able to understand. A traveling potionmaker, she asked after news and seemed surprised when they spoke of the strange assault upon the town they'd left. She made them strew, which was excellent, and the night otherwise passed without incident. They parted ways in the morning, and for the next two days they passed nothing but wildlife and natural obstacles that they easily overcame with all of the magic at their disposal. Clarissa subjected Arthur to her "training" those two nights, leaving the man exhausted come the morning and the demoness practically glowing from the constant influx of his soul's energy. She shamelessly worked him to exhaustion in full view of the rest of their group as well, occasionally shooting questioning looks at whoever was nearest as if seeing if they wanted a turn, though neither Mandra nor Sivi would take her up on that offer.

Midway through the fourth day, they came upon a fallen tree that stretched across the narrow road, and behind it was the carcass of a gargant, a massive herbivorous beast with a long thick neck for plucking fruit and leaves from trees that was so humongous that few things dared to hunt them. Normally traveling in small groups, this one was alone, but the only sign of what might have killed were the claw marks all over its neck, as only scavengers remained when they happened upon it. Sivi animated the tree and caused it to shift the carcass aside, quietly saying a prayer over the fallen beast before they were on their way.

On the final day of their travels to the next larger town, Ione's group found themselves ascending a hill only for the road to end at a cliff overlooking a valley. In that valley was a sprawling village, buildings stretched across an inconsistent topography. The town had no wall, and many of the larger buildings were made of stone, while smaller ones were made up of mud bricks or even simple shaped mud, with only a few crafted from lumber. That wasn't unheard of, as many of the jungle trees were ill suited for use in construction. There were figures moving among the town, many of them as if the daily bustle was still going on despite the lateness of the hour. Ione had come a long way in her magical talents along their journey thanks to Arthur, who had been a thorough teacher despite his near constant exhaustion thanks to Clarissa's regular feeding.

"It looks intact," Sivi said in surprise, prompting Clarissa to reply; "Yeah... Why? Did you think it would have been attacked too?" Her tone suggested that she had thought along the same lines, and after a moment the faerie would nod. "Shall we go down and see if we can get Hafstead some help?" Mandragora suggested. "One problem.... The road ends here. How do we get down? Try to go around and see if it picks up somewhere else?" Arthur said, pointing along the cliffs. The immediate area around the cliffs were bare and flat, and to their right the path gently sloped downwards. Tracks of people, carts, and animals were visible on the ground there, but if Ione wanted to suggest an alternative she was free to do so now that they were so near to Candria.

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

Ione awoke feeling cold despite the chest of the other alraune pressed close into her own and the warmth of tendrils acting as a cloak around both of them. Her eyes groggy and muscles groaning ever so slightly. She dreamed of her kin again. The errant memories forever lasting despite how much she wanted them not to. She hadn't expected Mandragora to appear in the dream though. 'Why would she appear there of all places. Why couldn't it have been something nicer instead. Like relaxing in a pond together.' As she rose from her plant sister she met her odd look with a smile eerily similar to the one she gave her after being nearly punched out before reaching over to equip herself. Unaware of anything Mandragora might have witnessed if she did.

She didn't have much to eat, the group choosing to rush it for the day, before they were all off. And she found herself drenched in the rain of magical knowledge Arthur began to teach her. The mage proved an adequate teacher even if the alraune was out of her element. Her manipulation of her own spirit was easy but channeling magic made the alraune loopy and frustrated with every bad attempt. "Ugh you make it seem so easy. I can barely do just any of this smaller stuff." She pouted after trying to manipulate water for about the 20th time without any real success. The ability would come through practice but she felt the full force of beginners frustration in trying to be better. And it really sucked.

The first day came and ended without incident, and the alraune and her party even gained relief in the form of a traveling potionmaker who offered them refuge for the night. And stew. Delicious, meaty, spiced and seasoned brothy concoction of the gods. Which to the alraune who just spent the good portion of her day trying to get water in a cup to float and dance as partial practice was like being offered ambrosia. She had to fight ever fiber of her being to keep her from being a pig about it, though she did herself no favors with the amount of drool she leaked after having a fair share. The woman would need the extra food more than the plant girl if she really didn't know about the attack on Hafstead after all. To trade with the town or even just for her journey elsewhere if she wasn't stopping that way.

Despite her troubles Water magic the alraune found Arcane magics MUCH easier to work with. In relatively no time the mage had her casting all manner of arcane practices and the plant girl quickly became giddy over the successes. "No wonder mages like using this stuff all the time! Or well, so I've heard over the years. Arcane magic is almost like a box of tools for magic isn't it? So many things you can do..." She erupted into giggles at the devious thoughts about it, before squeezing her teacher in celebration of her successes. All smiles and genuinely happy as she learned the magic, only mired by how she noticed Mandragora stay back over the days. At times catching her giving that same strange look from afar.

When the second night came around, and Clarissa decided to continue her lessons on the man Ione had planned to let the demoness do her thing. She just couldn't say no to those eyes of hers though. Rather than take a turn with Arthur however, she opted to support their tryst. Ushering her legs wide next to Arthur and supporting his head with her lap. "That's it sweet Arthur. You're doing well! Just relax and keep it up~." She coaxed, glancing down at the man with a wide grin and playing with his hair as Clarissa did her thing. occasionally shooting the demoness flushed glances, watching the man's energy syphon into her and leave her a glowing beauty in front her. Which the alraune was starting to wonder why she caught herself feeling strange while looking at her.

On the third day the plant girl decided to play a little when night came. She slunk herself over to the both of them again but this time instead of supporting the man she made true on the offer for a turn. Her hand trailed down the man's chest in a line, that traced all way down to his grown length which she made her interest very clear in by grasping it a few slow strokes. Her body followed it, lowering itself so that she could have a better view of the man's package and face staring back. "Tonight dear Arthur, there will be a small change. A warmup if you will. And a bit of appreciation on my part too for all the things you're helping me with. A fair warning though. Don't slouch. This is a test~"

A test of what the alraune would hold for the moment. She lowered her lips to the mage's length and gave it testing flick along it's underside. Then along the sides, making sure that her lips remained a touch as much as her tongue was. Teasing it this way for awhile before closing her eyes and taking the thing into her mouth proper with a light suck and bop. Aiming to be far more gentle than what Clarissa inflicted on the man usually. She wanted him to get used to it just enough to think he was getting a small relief that night. The silly man. When he did however Ione would open her eyes and stare back at the man with mischief in her eyes before she let the demonic vampiric powers instilled into her flow forth.

She hurried her pace then, cupping the man's balls with a free hand and giving them gentle squeezes as her mouth descended on him. Eyes making sure to never leave his own all that often if she could help it. She wanted him to realize it and know she was now draining him too, and for something she never really did very often it felt wonderful. A pleased moan escaped her into the cock that filled her, making her want to milk the thing faster despite her efforts to remain softer. She choose to drag things out for the man for as long as she could, making him squirm as she stole that bit of energy from him as a substitute. And when he finally could handle it no longer, she greedily let him pop inside, swallowing up every bit of seed he shot for herself.

Smirking, she removed herself from the man and giggled. "How's that for manipulating water? And I don't even have to know magic for that!" She rose then and scooted herself over the man's chest, offering up the now freed organ behind her for the demoness to take while looking over he shoulder expectantly. Clarissa would take it surely, and take back off with her training where Ione left it. And when she did the alraune would lean back against the demoness where she straddled the man, wanting so much to have the demoness wrap her arms around her, and to let them wander, she almost felt it written on her face by that point. A face which she made certain the demoness could claim with ease.

That night the alraune would drift off to sleep with ease, and a mixture of muddy headed glee that certainly would mire the memory of voyeurism and strangeness coming from Sivi and Mandra that night. She would awake to high spirits the next day as well, her progress with magic taking a big leap as she finally cracked the elusive secrets keeping her from working water properly. The only distraction of the day being a fallen tree along the road and a gargant, a humongous plant eating beast, whose corpse lay as cause to the tree's fall. Ione had never had the chance to eat the meat from one of those things, but by now it had been out long enough that she was sure it better not to try. Who knows what larva had managed to burrow it's way into the thing by now.

Ione didn't join Clarissa for her training session that forth night, leaving her be with the man. Even though she really felt the desire to join them once more. To be close to them and... Clarissa. "You don't always have to train Arthur you know. You could train me too..." She whispered under her breath, letting a sigh leave her lips as she laid back. To add to her sigh there was also an issue with Mandragora. Ever since that night with the dream the other alraune had been strange. She didn't seem distant but she would catch that same look from her and it made the alraune feel very uncomfortable. She had to find out what was up with the alraune, but she was afraid to ask her in case it made it worse somehow.

The appearance of the town the next day was a sight to behold. Unlike Hafstead, where they could only see the peaks of buildings poking over from the trees, from where they all stood overlooking the valley it was in they had sight of the whole town. The difference didn't end there either. There was no walls, and many of the buildings were more natural. More mud and stone buildings than not. Despite how late it was too there were plenty of people still milling about as well. At least the alraune figured they were people until Sivi and Clarissa emphasized the thought that this town might have been attacked as well.

"Why don't we just float down there?" The alraune offered. "I've... never done it with four people before but I'm sure I can wrap a few tendrils around you guys, and maybe stay close to the backface of the cliff just in case, and we can all just ease ourselves down the side of the cliff. Would save us time from having to go around!" She offered meekly, realizing just how bad she was making it sound the further she went on with it. If no one objected she ascend a little, floating in the air and then summoning out her tendrils to secure everyone to herself, and of course give them something to hold onto before they would descend towards the town in that manner.

Ione offers to Fly everyone down the cliff and near to Candria

Which is obviously not a bad idea. Certainly not. With the danger of flying and also potentially aliens

Mandragora: HP = 50, PP = 42, EP = 86, Status = Fine
Clarissa: HP = 72, PP = 46, EP = 46, Status = Fine
Arthur: HP = 51, PP = 66, EP = 67, Status = Fine
Sivi: HP = 35, PP = 50, EP = 55, Status = Fine

Arthur would only grin whenever Ione became frustrated at her inability to get water magic working for her, repeating the basics with only a minimum of condescension. Her inability to grasp the concepts of manipulating water, despite being similar in many respects to what magic she already knew, would be alleviated only with hard work. Her mastery of the more esoteric arcane arts came as a surprise after the difficulty with water, the art of countering other magic and directing raw magical energy less similar to the abilities that she already had than the manipulation of water. Still, her learning would go well, even with Arthur's regular distraction at the merciless hands of Clarissa.

Ione's interactions with the mage's "training" at his former slave's hands would be welcomed, Arthur at least getting the comfort of laying his head in her lap while Clarissa rode him until he was all but completely emptied of seed and energy. The next night, Clarissa would offer a mischievous smile when Ione accepted her offer, merrily sliding aside while Ione moved atop him, trailed down to stroke Arthur's erect staff, and he gave a soft sigh of relief in response to the gentler than usual touch. His heads slid behind his head, relaxing as Ione stroked his already fully hard manhood which had grown at least an inch since Ione had last felt it inside of her.

"A... Test huh?" he groaned, his cock giving a little jump as she flicked her tongue against it. The alraune's teasing licks seemed to come as an immense relief, something that he could enjoy rather than Clarissa's far more strenuous training. He let his gaze settle on the gold skinned alraune, watching her every motion with undisguised arousal on his face and offering regular groans of appreciation. His rod gave a soft pulse when she infused her magic into it, the tiny portion of magic causing him to gasp in surprise as the channel between her soul and his formed despite that her own was formed in a way that normally made forming such a bond impossible.

"Ahh... Oohhh, fuck... I didn't know.... Nnn... You could do that," her mentor in sorcery groaned as her soft sucking let her draw out her first taste of his essence. Clarissa, lying on her side beside him and watching, gave a light giggle as she watched Ione taking a sample of her "meal" and reached down to caress the alraune's cheek affectionately. "Mmmmhhmmm, aren't you just full of surprises, dear little flower?" she cooed merrily, "don't suck him completely dry now~ I want some too!"

Arthur seemed to have plenty to give as Ione drew out her "test" of his stamina, his essence easily offered up as a treat for her lustful hunger while she steadily bobbed up and down upon his shaft. The alraune was easily able to draw things out to her satisfaction before her meal ended with both a physical and metaphysical explosion. Having been kept on edge for minutes, Arthur had begun to squirm, lightly thrusting his hips up to meet her mouth, and when she finally brought him to his release the mage let out a low groaned and closed his eyes as his seed and his spirit were both sucked into her hungry mouth, spurt after spurt of cum joining the steady stream of energy that she was able to draw away. There would still be more than enough left for Clarissa once Ione had swallowed down his cream, however, and the succubus simply giggled and mounted her lover.

The demoness was not one to leave an offered morsel to go to waste, however, and gave Ione exactly the embrace that she wanted while she rode Arthur, at first hugging and letting her crooning voice slide from between her lips against Ione's pointed ear but quickly beginning to explore that wonderfully offered body to whatever extent Ione seemed to desire.

Sadly, the next night her whispered words would go unanswered, and Ione would spend that night without pleasurable company while Clarissa once more put Arthur through her punishing training.

When they finally arrived at Hafstead and looked upon it from the cliff, Ione's comrades would look at her perplexed at her suggestion. "Wait.... You can fly?" Clarissa asked, having not witnessed such a feat (unless I forgot her doing it at some point) and joining the others in wonderment at the idea. "Sure," Arthur said simply, "it seems the swiftest way to get down there." Sivi and Mandragora nodded in agreement, "I think it's a good idea. Who wants to go for a ride first?" Mandragora and Clarissa stepped forward together, but after glancing at one another and opening their mouths to speak Arthur said; "Why doesn't Ione go first, to make sure there's someplace safe to land down there, before she starts carrying anything? So long as she stays in sight, we should be able to cover her in case anything decides it wants to try a flying alraune for lunch."

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

Ione nodded towards Clarissa with a small giggle. "Of course I can fly. How do you think my seedlings can take flight so? It's not something in the soil that's for sure." She raised a smile further when both sweet Mandragora and sweet Clarissa offered to be the first one's to go with her on the little flight trip she planned. If it was just one or two than it would be much easier than all of them at once. But Arthur spoke up before either of them could get a word in about it, and listening to the man's words the alraune couldn't help but see the wisdom in the mage's words. "I suppose... if there are more of those things down there well getting away would be much easier if I didn't have to worry about you guys ahaha... ummmmmmmmmmm"

She really didn't like that idea that had been planted in her head before, but little could be done about it. The attack on Hafstead was enough for her to realize the danger. She relaxed and steaded herself at the cliff's edge before letting her power take hold of her, and began to float off the ground somewhat. She glanced back to give everyone a little wave before she set off, using the edge of the cliff as a repeling guide. Gently descending and pushing off from the side of the rocks where they cast in angles below her where she glided. Normally she'd just rush off to an open spot near the town but she liked the idea of being very cautious given the prospect of what might await in the town.

'Hopefully it's just... an overreaction! This town will be fine. I'm gonna go down there and there will be people who are just as confused about the attack as that old woman was. They'll send people there and everything will be okay!' She pepped herself up in her thoughts. Below her was a stretch of land near the town that seemed rather flat from up high. She wouldn't know until she was there in person, so when she finally would reach the bottom of the cliff she would glide over to that stretch and approach the town coming from it. Using any cover she could find there to peek in closer at the town, searching for any signs that something was off about the town and it's inhabitants.

"Stay safe," Clarissa said, having only rolled her eyes at Ione's response to her incredulous question. The others would nod in agreement before the alraune took off, using her magic to allow her to float down to the bottom of the cliff and then approaching the town. Getting in closer while trying to keep out of sight herself, Ione would see that there were still people there, and there didn't seem to be anywhere near the same level of devastation as had befallen Hafstead. Those people that she did see didn't seem like they were just going about their daily lives, however, as they moved in groups and always armed, usually with women in the center of their group. And nobody that she could see was smiling.

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

The longer the alraune watched the masses of townsfolk moving about the town unhindered the more obvious it became that something was definitely up. She may not have spent much time hanging around settlements in her younger days, but she knew enough to know that people at least did more than wander about aimlessly. They had things to do, people to see, parcels to move about. And yet here everyone was just idling about for the most part. Surrounding all the women in groups are armed quite up. It was unusual to say the least and didn't leave the alraune feeling very confident about the town being at all safe for her and her party to be visiting.

She wasn't about to just catch their attention by revealing herself. If things had gone bad here, whether it was from those strange beings or something else, she was going to find out a little more subtly rather than put herself or her companions unnecessarily in harms way. The flow of energy fueling her ability to fly came undone, and as she watched on she let it reform into another shape. One that left her slowly turning dark as her body deformed and spread out into hundreds of tiny jungle gnats who began floating towards the town and the people there. With a bit of closer inspection it'd should be a breeze to see far better what was going on. It would make it much easier too to drift about and see first hand what kind of damage if any the town happened to be hiding from it's calm appearance.

Ione drops Flight, and uses Form of the Swarm to get a closer view of things going on in the town.

Transforming into a swarm of tiny insects, Ione would be able to get closer and find that the people of the town were not idle. They were going about what looked like their normal daily business, cautiously, and as if they expected to be attacked by something. There didn't seem to be any outward damage to the town that was apparent from outside of it, but if she progressed inwards then she would find a few buildings that looked as if they were scorched by magic, which the townsfolk were carefully avoiding.

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

Ione quickly gathered that the people of the town had fared far better than what had occurred with Hafstead. Upon closer inspection what appeared to be idle wanderings was merely delayed cautiousness as the people went about doing various tasks. Under armed guard at that, and not at all very happily. A dour mood encompassed the town coming from the various groups her swarm spotted and it was not lost on the alraune. By all appearances the town seemed relatively intact, save for a number of heavily burned buildings among the town's interior. All of which looked as if they were all about to collapse at any moment, the damage so severe as to make them practically un-savable.

There was a distinct lack of battle marks elsewhere, and despite not overhearing anything while swooping about the plant girl was satisfied. She choose to stay in her swarmed form as she circled back through the town and flew high, matching the top of the cliff her party waited at long before she was close to it. And when she approaced she maintained some distance as her swarm flew together and she emerged out of it, gently placing her feet on the ground. "It doesn't appear as if the people down there are very happy. There is some damage to the town, but they appear to be alright. Very apprehensive though. Something attacked them, and it may very well have been the same things that attacked Hafstead." She relayed, smoothing a hand along her armor and stretching herself.

"If they're that tense it'd be wise to stick together down this main path. No doubt a sentry would spot us as we approached. Perhaps it'd put them more at ease to see a party of folks traveling into town than things floating in from the sky?" She suggested, not keen to try her flight thought again in retrospect at that thought. 'I'm probably lucky I didn't end up like one of those buildings in town. All charred up and mangled. That... would have been pretty bad...' She gathered herself next to Clarissa and looked upon the other party members in interest at their thoughts of the situation. Hoping also that they wouldn't be too freaked out about her appearing from a swarm of aphids too.

"I don't know if that's necessary. It's not like we'd be dropping right into their town, there's about a mile of forest between the cliff and the first few buildings," Arthur pointed out, as they'd been planning on dropping into a wooded section anyway. "Maybe we should just listen to Ione? I mean, walking out of the woods would still be suspicious, and if they're as paranoid as it sounds we'd probably be better off erring on the side of caution," Sivi replied, and though Arthur and Clarissa frowned at the delay, Mandragora sided with the faerie and Ione. The pair would accept that idea without needing further argument, and then they were on their way.

It took nearly two hours for them to walk around and down the cliffs, along the main path into Hafstead. As she'd surmised, the town had left a guard, and a trio of armed and armored sentries stepped out, all three young men obviously nervous, and the one in the center called out to them with a spear planted into the ground beside him, his full armor in jade like the two men beside him. "Halt! Who goes there?" he said in a voice that he managed to keep from shaking, though Ione wouldn't miss the tight grip he had on the hilt of his weapon.

"There are more of them... In the woods around us," Mandragora whispered softly into her ear, and Sivi nodded. "We are travelers come to find news... And deliver it," Arthur called back confidently, taking the center of the party. "I am a sorcerer of Celesis, on a pilgrimage of learning, and these are my... Familiars." The sentry quirked an eyebrow as he swept over the cavalcade of female forms, most of them not wearing much and two of them alraune who were not able to bond in that manner with a sorcerer. "Dark times are these, but not by mortal hands are we threatened. What guarantee have we that you are not among the creatures who have attacked us?" the sentry replied, and Arthur was slightly taken aback.

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

The journey down the cliff side was a lot longer than simply flying would have taken the alraune and her party, but the two hours it composed passed without incident. A nice solace compared to what they could've been walking into. Instead when they reached the main path leading into to Candria, a trio of guardsmen would appear causing her party to stop. Mandra's whispers would catch Ione's attention as she glanced about from behind her helmet, casting her eyes along the tree lines she could see. Though with the jade armor the guard wore and the right position she knew she'd have a hard time making out a well concealed guardsman from any of the jungle's many shrubery.

Arthur took the initiative to speak with the guard, and his attempt at introducing themselves brought a smile to Ione's face. Familiars? She supposed both her and Clarissa kinda were. Familiar with a lot of him at least. Arthur wasn't expecting the guard's response it seemed, so she quickly jumped in. "Well we're talking to you. Out in the open. And you don't see an army of bad things behind us do you?" Ione responded, pointing a thumb backwards for emphasis. "We've traveled a long way to inquire assistance for a fellow town. We believe the things that attacked here may very well be the same creatures who attacked Hafstead not but two weeks ago. And considering this place still has a town guard that's a marked improvement over where we just came from.

Leaning onto the gnarled staff she carried the alraune continued. "You have my word that we aren't here to cause harm to this town. We only wish to seek aid from here for your kin elsewhere, and a place to rest. Do you know of any here who may assist us sir guard?" She inquired politely, wanting to seem non-threatening and remain friendly with the guardsmen here. She'd already had good luck with the mercenaries from before, in a manner of speaking. Hopefully this first impression would ease any tension they continued to have so they could help everyone in the end. And she knew just one way to do it that she was eager to try out, assuming nothing went wrong with the guards and people in this place of course.

The guards seemed hesitant for a moment following Ione's revelation, grimly glancing between one another before looking back to their party, but then the spokeswoman replied; "Assistance is hard to come by these days, for all are in need of it." She planted her spear in the ground, "you are welcome in Candria, for what little good it does. I am afraid that we can offer little succor, it is only by fortune that we survive. How fared Hafstead?"

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

"Not very well..." Ione began, relaxing a little as the guard welcomed them. "...only a couple dozen townsmen remain, and the only guard left to speak of there are but two dozen mercenaries who happened to be in town during for the celebration to nature. Everyone that remains fit quite easily in a single tavern to put it very simply." She said grimly herself, a feeling of frustration rising over not being able to do more to save more people during that time. "Tell me, did a giant horrible cloud float above this town as well? One did for Hafstead, and we had little time to stop it before it simply... vanished. Leaving us to deal with those things that it left behind."

"A giant cloud? No, but there was... Something. Like a gray dragon, but bigger and less fierce. It ate many of our people before it fled, leaving only a handful of its monstrous spawn behind that we managed to eliminate before they could cause any more harm." The guard looked across the group, and then said; "You may find rest here, but I am afraid that we have no help to offer for Hafstead. We sent messengers to Celesis, they should arrive quickly if they have not been held up by the jungle, but we do not yet know if they have suffered as we have."

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

Ione didn't know what this gray dragon the guardsman spoke of, but she was very sure that there hadn't been anything like it during the attack on Hafstead. Not unless they were just talking about the same floating thing that had menaced the sky that day, just using different words for it of course. She was doubtful, seeing how the thing back home had used some sort of... proboscis? A tendril of some sort anyhow, to suck up people into it. She shuddered at the thought of being eaten by such a thing, like so many of the people of Hafstead had suffered. And she hoped she had the fortune of not running into such a thing unprepared again, and that her allies would have the same.

"Let us hope that the city fares better then. But prepare for the worst if not. It sounds like both towns will be needing it." She acknowledged to the welcoming with a nod towards the guardsmen, before turning to her companions and urging them on with a gesture of the hand. Once they had moved past the sentries and were entering past the first buildings of the town Ione would loosen an audible breath. "Well at least we don't have to fight anymore of those things here. But I was really hoping to get some assistance out of this place for Hafstead. This place makes Hafstead look like a ghost town. Probably because it is..." She sighed, slumping her shoulders as she continued on.

Still, she wasn't about to let a depression take over her. Despite the guard's words she was determined to help Hafstead out anyway that she could. And perhaps end up helping this place as well. "We've traveled a long way already, but before we find somewhere to rest I'd like to look around for the Chemister's guild in this town. The guard here might not be able to help, but perhaps some of Jezebel's friends here yet survived. And are just as hospitable as our night elf friend." The alraune commented straightly, lust nowhere near the edge of any of her words for once.

"I wouldn't hold out hope for that," Clarissa warned as they passed through the first few buildings, all of which seemed to be empty save for the guardhouse at the very edge of town where two women with longbows stood on watch. "If this place is even half as depopulated as Hafstead, they won't have the bodies to spare." Arthur, after Ione's request that they seek out the Chemister's Guild, nodded and said; "That probably wouldn't be a good idea regardless. I'll go with you. Why don't the rest of you try and find someplace for us to stay a while and replenish our supplies?"

Sivi and Mandragora seemed fine with that idea, but Clarissa appeared hesitant to part for some reason. Arthur didn't seem to notice as he looked around, but the golden alraune could raise a request for the demoness to accompany them as well if she so chose.

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

The alraune nodded in agreement at Arthur, welcoming the mage joining as they went to look for the guide ahead somewhere. She was about to simply continue on when she noticed her friend's fallen expression. She wasn't exactly sure why she seemed so reluctant to part, but if she had to make a guess she probably didn't want to be apart from Arthur for too long. Who just so happened to be completely oblivious to the demoness reluctance at that moment. Irritation grew at that trademark obliviousness, but along with it something else she couldn't exactly place. An anxiousness that left her feeling... resentful at Arthur? It was not something she wanted to feel but it was there none the less.

Putting aside those feelings, Ione turned towards Clarissa. "We shouldn't be too long. Even if they can't offer any hands, we should be able to snag potions or the ingrediants to make some. I actually used to make potions and trade them sometimes, though not very often. Lack of bottles." She emphasized, glancing about before looking to the demoness. "Why don't you give us a hand too? I'll be honest I'm a bit out of my element in a place like this. I've never really been in anything other than small towns, it's strange to see such tall buildings. Are the ones in Celesis just as big as these ones?" She asked with curiosity, smiling a sweet smile and offering a hand towards her to accompany them through their search.

Which if the demoness accepted Ione would slip herself closer to her, squeezing Clarissa in a warm hug and sighing happily. And then sticking close to her as they traveled on, letting her body brush up against hers from time to time while she scoped out the buildings they all passed. Scouring every storefront window and odd shaped building for any signs of the one they all sought. She'd wave down any spare guardsmen after awhile if they hadn't found it yet and simply ask which direction the guild was in. And then, proceed to travel to it straight then and hopefully not get lost down some side street. She didn't imagine any of those things had survived in town, but even if they hadn't the amazon wasn't a place to take lightly. Who knew what could have slipped in from beyond the treeline? Which gave her more the reason to fear for Hafstead's sake with a some anxiety.

"Bigger," Arthur said, seemingly amused by Ione's amazement at such buildings, most of which weren't bigger than two or three floors. Clarissa smiled at her conspiratorially before moving beside Arthur, who seemed not to care that the demoness was going with them, and with Ione and Clarissa walking side by side with arms around each other's waists they set off in search of the alchemist's guild.

It wasn't hard to find, being one of the larger buildings in town and possessing a pungent odor that was noticeable from several streets away. Many of the town's occupants avoided them, and those that didn't go out of the way to keep from their path simply ignored them instead. The grand hall of the chemisters in Candria was a brick built of worked stone, unguarded but apparently occupied if the smoke rising from some of its numerous chimneys was any indication. Many of the windows were fouled by ages of exposure to smoke from the experiments going on inside, however, and they couldn't see more than the occasional glow through any of them.

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

The pungent odor coming from somewhere in town was hard to miss as Ione and her companions searched out for the building housing the Chemisters. Traveling delightfully with Clarissa hooking around her waist and the plant girl to hers. It filled her plant body with warmth to be close to her friend and she didn't hesitate to get as close as she could without making it difficult for the both of them to walk. And it gave her an aid to focus with as she eased herself to familiarity with that something in the air. Which just so happened to belong to a rather large building in town, complete with smoke emitting that and other strange smells, and a character of age to it's windows and brick that just screamed the homeliness of a bunch of alchemists.

She scrunched her face at the stronger smell as they approached the aged building. "What do you think? Is that from something they're cooking now, or is it the years of skunk baked into that place?" She asked mostly as a joke, dodging along with Clarissa one of the few townspeople who actually happened to simply ignore them instead of going out of their way to avoid them. It seemed a bit odd if one didn't consider what had happened to the town before. Time would heal their uneasiness, but not all of it she reckoned. "We should be able to enter the guild through the front door. Assuming it isn't stuck from all the years of goo this place has probably seen."

It didn't seem as if there were any guards stationed about to really hassle them, so Ione took the route of least resistance, leading Arthur and Clarissa into the grand hall. "Hello? This is the Chemisters guild of Candria yes? We're looking to invest in some ingredients and alchemical knowledge if you are willing to humor us. I was told by a guildmate in Hafstead that this place would be... an excellent place to visit if I had the chance..." It was a slight fib, seeing how Jezebel only ever told her that it existed but it didn't matter really. Or at least she hoped it wouldn't. She didn't know who to expect in a place like this too. The night elf had been friendly. Surely her former guildmates would be amiable enough as well.

"Smells more like years to me," Clarissa replied dryly, though Arthur didn't join in on their humor. "The Chemister guilds are an ancient order who have outposts all over the world. Crolia, here in the Amazon, Anudor... There are even guild halls in Badaria, despite the empire's xenophobia. I wouldn't be surprised if this building has been here before my great grandfather was even born!" he said, to which Clarissa simply rolled her eyes. "You humans... How long do you even live? Fifty years? Sixty? I bet I'm old than this place, and by your calender I'm only three hundred!"

Arthur merely scowled at her, and Clarissa sighed and nodded in response to Ione's suggestion. "The door is right before us... Lets see if we can find someone helpful here," the demoness said, and after a few moments of trying to get the door open it would unjam and permit them entrance. The place was even dingier inside than out, the lamps on the walls dim with barely charged lightstones and chemical stained glass. A short hallway led to a intersection going in four directions, and there didn't seem to be anyone in the hallway. There was an open door on either side of the hallway, both leading to labs, and one of them at least had someone clad fully in a protective suit made out of waxed leather, including a long beaked mask and a hat of similar material.

They turned from an alembic suspended over a flame that they were monitoring but didn't speak as Ione greeted them and asked for help. They peered through fogged up glasses at the alraune and her two companions, and a moment after she'd finished a muffled voice replied in a perplexed manner; "So, uhhh..... Who are you?" Their voice was muffled, making it difficult to determine their gender and even the exact words they used, but after Ione offered introductions - or let her companions make their own - the figure continued; "Well, you found the right place... I don't know if we're supposed to just let people wander around though, especially after the last couple of days."

Re: A Wild Flower (Ryu Doppler)

"An ancient order huh?" The alraune returned to Arthur's words, wrapping her head around the idea of it being so old. When Clarissa quipped of her age however she viewed the demoness with some surprise. She hadn't thought her to be such an age; having only her own age to consider and not being around many who were of a long lived variety had skewed her perspective of age. And the realization only reminded Ione of her own life's mortality, it's drop in the bucket compared to their own. Especially to sweet Clarissa. "Wow... you've lived that long already? The things you must have seen and learned! It sounds like it would be pretty nice. To have all those... extra seasons..."

She shifted her gaze down mostly to the floor after that, dragging somewhat from the thoughts. Raising her eyes when she found the person in the beaked mask to address. "I am known as Ione, and these are my friends Clarissa and Arthur." The alraune said as she pointed both of them out. "You needn't worry. I've not a mind to crawl my way around these bricks! Actually, besides any materials you could spare for us we've mainly come wondering if there is anything the guild could spare for those in Hafstead? The town there is in a very dire state. I... hate to say this but I think that Jezebel might be the only alchemist left there, had there been anyone else. We wouldn't even know of here if it weren't for her. You wouldn't happen to have met before have you?" She inquired politely, hoping even just this one member might have better news than the guard had.

Ione swallowed lightly before speaking once more. "Has there been anyone else traveling this way too that you know of? Anyone that might have stopped by this town. Soldiers, merchants... fae? We passed an old merchant on our way here. Hopefully she still fairs a safe travel." She asked, trying not to put much emphasis on the word fae to really give anything away to the others, though whether that was a success was yet to be seen. Ever since they had gone beyond that bridge the only encounter so far had only been that damn knight back in Hafstead. And it made Ione far more paranoid than she would have liked. Especially considering how that knight had addressed her. It left her feeling more vulnerable than she would have liked. Like the first chilled wind before the seasons changed. It wasn't a good feeling.
