Votes:

Milk (4 votes)

Mead (4 votes)

Spirits (4 votes)

Conclusion?
I hate you all. XD

It’s not that much of an important choice, so I’ll roll a dice for it (censuur’s idea for vote locks (vide his thread) is a good one, but not much use here). Besides, this thread lacked any kind of update long enough.
*Sound of dice rolling* Spirit it is!

The story of Nathia Charden

The prompted girl paused for a while, deliberating her choices. At the moment she would fancy…

- I’ll take mead! No, wait actually I might prefer a glass of warm because – something of a snicker rolled through the table. The girl nudged the closest man sitting next to her – To hell with it. Give me your best dwarven spirits since Wulfer is paying. I’ll show these greenhorns how to drink!

The barmaid smiled, but did not say anything about the girl’s declaration – as opposed to the mercenaries sitting at the table, whom released a cry of laughter. After a while she was back with the beverages – and thus, the drinking had begun.

A while later…
- Get down from there!

- No! I’m the queen of the world! – The girl screamed while dancing on the table.

The hardened soldiers knew how to drink, but the blonde warrior was not worse from them. Not an hour passed, and the whole inn was drinking, laughing and dancing. Huffy Herbert, the proprietor, even send for some minstrels – the sound of silver coins quickly woke them up – and rubbed his hand thinking about his profits.

When the dawn broke over the inn’s windows, one could see piles of bodies lying in the floor, sleeping. With time, even the grumpy Herbert joined the fun and drunk with his guests. Somehow our heroine managed to crawl towards her sleeping bag near the fireplace, dissuading potential amorous approaches.

- My…head… - she groaned – Why, by the gods, why I had chosen to drink so much?

An almost empty spirit flask rolled by, hit by her foot.

- What are they putting there, gunpowder? Who drinks this stuff? No, who makes it? Ugh, I need water. Or something – her throat was parched. She snatched the rolling flask and emptied the last few sips.

When the world was finally about to concede and stop spinning, the girl stood up and with a wobbly step, left the inn in order to find some water. The weather outside was chilly, but the typical northern morning was beautiful indeed. The pristine white snow glistened in the sun, at first blinding the female warrior. She took a deep breath of the freezing air and felt invigorated. The well was just outside the inn and the girl quickly managed to procure some water. Even though the fluid was nearly frozen she sighed in relief; in her mind the crystal clear water was almost ambrosia. Afterwards she quickly returned to the inn – while the morning was radiant it was most definitely cold as well. The girl begun to gather her things; she rolled her bag and assembled her inventory. In the meantime, some of the men and women were ‘attempting’ to rise (and some even managed to do it without grumbling too much).

“I don’t think I can eat anything” – the girl sat down, grimacing at the mere thought of anything solid in her stomach. She was considering her actions in the near future – “Where should I go first?”

A. It’s kinda early, but Sviege is most definitely on his foot by now. He’s going to be in town for a few weeks at least, but I’d prefer to collect my payment as soon as possible.
B. Find some work – but where? I have – or will have – enough money to just wait for Sviege’s caravan to move again, so I coins aren’t the problem… but boredom is. I’ll ask around the market, there’s bound to be some mercenary work, some merchant needing protection. I’m off to see the world after all.
1. (Additional choice). Well, on the other hand I know Sviege an he pays well. I grew fond of Wulfer and his boys as well. It will be a blast to travel together again! I’ll wait him out.
C. I wonder if Wulfer woke up already? He’s a sly fox and knows these lands. While being a caravan guard paid well and allowed me to travel I went north for a reason – treasure and adventure that is! I’m certain he’ll spill the beans about some frozen tomb or a treasure filled dungeon. These mountains are bound to have heaps of forgotten catacombs.

Just so we're clear on the B choice, the most probable merchant job is a caravan escort - basically a few weeks worth journey to who knows where. Ie. - leaving north.

(I have no problem with that - it's in your choices after all -I'm just writing a clarification after seeing the "giant rats"... which are among the most unlikely foes to attack a caravan XD)

I merely brought them up because they, like inns, are pretty much a staple introductory locations/enemies in an adventure setting ;P

Alright, I'll be the odd man out, and voice of reason, and vote A. Besides, if we get our money now, less of a chance of something straight out of left field happening causing us to lose said money.
Paranoid? Maybe, but that's what happenes when you're a D&D veteran.

As much as I hate to leave delicious money untouched, A just feels like a mugging waiting to happen or something.

B, showing up hung the fuck over to ask for work seems like a bad idea.

But C... bleh.

A! Make sure you remember to check the other half of the coins are actually coins, and not just you seeing double or however the whole post-inebriation thing goes.

~Rollin’ mah dicez for thingz and shite >:V~ THREE TIMES THIS TIME FOLKS! My hand will drop from the fatigue, I’m telling you! To be honest, I don’t know why I’m writing this, perhaps to reassure you about the existence of multi-paths.

The story of Nathia Charden

“I don’t think I can eat anything” – the girl sat down, grimacing at the mere thought of anything solid in her stomach. She was considering her actions in the near future – “Where should I go first?”

She pondered for a moment, considering her options.

“It’s kinda early, but Sviege is most definitely on his foot by now. He’s going to be in town for a few weeks at least, but I’d prefer to collect my payment as soon as possible.”

- Close the damn door, snow is flowing inside!

Gruff voice reached the girl’s ears as she went inside Sviege’s room. The stout merchant man sat behind a massive desk in his temporary office, absorbed in complicated calculations. A moment passed until he had finally raised his head and looked at his guest.

- Nathia. – A sly smile went on his lips. – A bit early, aren’t we? – He continued as he reached into one of many drawers in his desk.

- I presume you’re here about your pay. Catch! – The merchant tossed a jingling purse towards the blonde warrior. She caught it with ease and weighed it in her hand before tying it to her belt. Sviege snorted:

- You can count them if you wish. – The portly merchant returned to his books without paying further attention to his guest.

Nathia shook her head. She was certain the Sviege had not cheated her. What the stout man lacked in manner, he made up with honesty. He might not be the nicest fellow around, but he definitely was fair and square.

- Thanks. – She replied. – See you around!

The merchant spoke once again, just when Nathia was to open the door.

- It would be a shame to lose such a fine guard. – Sviege coughed, clearing his throat. – I will be leaving in two weeks, give or take a few days. We’re going back south, taking the eastern route. If you’re interested, there’s a spot for you. I’m paying as good as always.

The girl nodded her head in acknowledgement, though she wasn’t absolutely certain that the merchant saw this gesture, as he was scribbling the whole time.

- It’s something to consider. – She said and left Sviege’s office.

Nathia quickened her pace, feeling a cold gust of wind blowing up her cloak. She was undecided about where should she go next, but ultimately she went back to the inn. Firstly, her stomach had finally stopped being upset, but in an ironic twist, she was now starving. Secondly, it started to snow and the beautiful weather from the morning was all but a memory.

Right after reaching her destination, the girl quickly satisfied her earthly needs with pleasure. Huffy Herbert was a great cook indeed.

-Where’s the hurry, lass?

Nathia raised her eyes from the bowl with her meal, seeing a jovial bearded man sitting across her.

-Wulfie! Just the man I was looking for! – The girl smiled. – If someone knows anything about the lands, it would you, am I right?

- Aye, right you are lassie, but what’s this about?

-I was wondering if you’d like to tell me about the surrounding mountains. Especially if your tales would contain gold, forgotten tombs and…

-Adventurer stuff, aye? – The old man smiled knowingly. – Are you sure you’re not pulling me leg?

- Huh? No, I’m honestly interested. Why do you ask? – Nathia asked with a surprised look on her face.

The old man shrugged and continued.

- Tis’ some kind of adventurer’s season? You’re the third one to me about it today. If you were to come a bit sooner, I wouldn’t have to repeat meself.

The hint was clear enough for the blonde warrior, as she immediately ordered beer for her companion.

- That will sufficiently moisture your parched throat I hope.

- Aye, that will do… for starters. – Wulfie smiled in response and took a large sip starting his stories.

The girl listened intently to every word that left Wulfgar’s lips. Many stories were fairy tales at best, but she didn’t care – even though she was mostly interested in facts and existing places, Nathia grew up on such stories and was very fond of them. Few beers drunken and dragons slayed later, she more or less knew where she stood with her possible trip to the mountains. Nevertheless, the girl wasn’t inclined to limit her options, and decided that the last few hours of the day she’ll spend at the market, looking for job opportunities. Luckily for her, the snow subsided and at the moment only a few delicate snowflakes dropped from the sky.

- Nathia Charden, right? Yeah I heard about you from Wulfgar. You’re a capable warrior; his word is good enough for me. – A young merchant, a caravaneer was the only interesting job prospect in the coming weeks, as the young girl was hardly interested in being a bodyguard for an elderly official that looked at her sleazily.

- We’re going south, right to the Summer Isles but it might take a few months, considering we’re about to visit every major city on the western tract. We’ll be ready to move in a few days, two or – ouch!

His speech was interrupted by a sudden blow to the head. The one that inflicted this unpleasant feeling on the young man seemed to be a very old, wizen senior, sitting on the box of the waggon.

- In three, four days youngster this “beautiful” cloud as you called it will create a dangerous snowstorm and we’d better not be on the road then. – The old man accented his words with his cane, tapping it at the carriage.

- Grandpa, you can’t possibly-

Another blow to the head once more interrupted the young man’s words.

- Pah, youngsters! The storm will be a short one, two or three days at most, but don’t you spew such nonsense that will leave in two days. You’re embarrassing me! We’ll leave in about ten days, just to be sure, mark my words!

Nathia chuckled at this scene, leaving the two merchants; promising she’ll “think about it”.

Lying in her bag, at the comfy spot near the fireplace, Nathia was thinking about tomorrow. Basically she stood before three choices:

A. Go south, with Sviege by the eastern route. She had enough money to spend the remaining time quite comfortably… but won’t she die of boredom in the meantime?
B. Go south via the western route. A change of company would do her good.
C. Venture into the mountains. She’d buy the necessary equipment at dawn, and after a while she was ready to go. She was fairly certain there were interesting places to go, some of them more dangerous than the other, but that’s the risk she’d have to take.
1. To the East! Ancient ruins await!
2. North! The wild tribes are bound to have something valuable!
3. West! A bit of tomb raiding wouldn’t hurt!

I think that if one would read between the lines, it's pretty obvious why there was a vote on the events (that each happened anyway). Hint - it was the timing. With the tie I rolled the dice, as usual. Hopefully, you won't judge this update as a re-vote of the last choices; that it provided at least a bit more insight into your options and... yada yada. Don't hit me please.

Can we go wandering out in the snow for a couple days, and come back and hopefully catch Svierge in time to take him up on his offer? :x

Though, if the old man is right about the storm, that's probably a bad idea...

But fuck it, adventure! I vote that thing I said.

It's more than doable, unless shit happens. And where would you like to send our cute warrior?

Btw, to whom it may concern this choice IS NOT

C1 Traps raep.
C2 Barbarian raep.
C3 Undead raep.

XDDD

^Tis' a joke if you need everything explained bluntly.

Clearly our aspiring Death Knight will require 'experience' with the undead. j/k
