I'm probably being a bit stingy with using Onyxes/buying more with RC. Since you pointed it out, really I should just do Helena and Rino and worry about needing to buy more Onyxes later if I'm short. I never thought about it being the equivalent of 5 SC, but that is totally accurate.
Actually, so far I haven't used Helena too much even though mine is mincosted and skill maxed. I mainly rely on Soldiers for ramping. I should learn to use her better, though with all the discussion with Overgoat recently, I've been thinking I'd like to improve how I play as a whole. I rely on guides too much.
Edit: Looks like Rino's 2AW will have to wait after all. Darn Silver Healer shortage.
like what larcx mentioned, going in blind can be fun, though atm i'm actually still 'cheating' to some extent because I happen to read stuff on discord before i go into the map. Anyway, one thing I recommend is to start by going in blind for non-G-tier maps (you can kinda tell by the 'recommended level' part before you start a map; G tier = 50cc50 to 1*, X = 50cc25 to 1*). A strong team is helpful as well so you can start messing around with units and thinking how your units can beat a map (you should have a lot of leeway with strong units). Maps you have to run multiple times are also good to go in blind; who cares if you only 1* or 2* if you're going to run it again anyway, right? (and yeah, just like you I dont like wasting cha/sta, especially because i'm a free player without the SCs to spam)
Also, Helena (and uzume) were not so prominent before AW2 was released; they became the best early deploy unit after AW2 was released which made them way cheaper. (it only takes 4 units deployed after them to make them a free deploy, and they fight better than soldiers)

Farm or item collection events would definitely be best for multiple runs then. This next event might be a star rush, but I'll probably do multiple runs anyway.
That was an interesting video. I'm not sure what I expected, but I didn't think they'd be so evenly matched.
I just ran Vepar Lv6 three times, and got two stars the third time after my Healers were finally able to keep themselves/Gellius alive long enough for Aisha and Miruno to take her out. But it seems like I need more long-range DPS or more healing for three stars. Unless I actually do look at a guide.
Edit: SAW'd Camilla might make a difference. I'll have another go tomorrow morning. And fyi, I'm using Jerome, Lizelotte and Helena for ramping/support.
I've actually got enough RC for either Danchou or Cynthia atm, but I'm undecided on which, plus I have so many other units to raise, so I'm leaving it for now.
Honestly, the question is what you need more and how fast you would be able to AW Danchou. To put it bluntly, Danchou is by far the better choice for a free player, as his SAW deals amazing melee support DPS and can tank as well (plus he looks really, really cool post-AW), making him a great unit for any roster. However, before AW he is pretty weak, and you really need his SAW to get him to be great.
Cynthina, on the other hand, is immediately useful even at Lv1, if you can keep her out of the fire. She provides an amazing boost if you have a strong melee team with good multipliers and/or damage (AW Prince, Emperor-kun, Danchou, Nezha, Leone, etc.) but the benefits she provides scales exponentially with the number of strong units you already have, and because of her anti-ramping, she is mostly useful as a late-placement to deal with bosses. AW turns her into an amazing lighting rod though, with her SAW perma-boosting her health enough for her to tank stuff properly. Also note that she is easy to skill up, as two daily-rotation plats have the same skill.
So again: If you want an immediate boost to your melee units so that they can take on bosses in the endgame, or if you have some already good melee blacks and you want to push them even further, pick Cynthia. If you want a really great unit that can moonlight both as DPS and a tank and you are confident you can AW him quickly, pick Danchou.
It depends a lot on the average cost of your units and if u deploy a rear tactician or not.
As an example:
A front tactician saves 15 cost per 5 units deployed, if those units had an avg. cost of 24 (24*5 = 120), you would need 105 (120 - 15 = 105) secs to deploy them against 87 (17.5s+15c+35s+15c+35s+15c=87s+45c=132c) secs with the imperial girl soldier alone, or 75 (17.5s+15c+23.3s+15c+23.3s+15c+11s=75s+45c=120c) if using a rear tactician.
The point:
It mostly depends on the team and the map, a tactician is not always better than soldiers and vice versa, so a little though before each battle is the best course of action.

I found this to be absolutely true in brutal scenarios like Dwarf and giants II. Soldier ramping was just too slow and they could not kill fast enough before they get slaughtered by the giant red/black goblins. With advance guard unit out, you could rapid deploy low cost rogues and/or monks to hold the line long enough to place other support units and even squeeze in a soldier for the UPs to bring in the big guns for the final 6 nasties.
Hey guys. Remember how I was carrying Overgoat's account for a week while he was cramming from his exams? Well guess what? I saved up 20 SCs, used them to farm today's X affection daily until I got Spica and some other up to the task, then moved onto the god-tier map and farmed it until I had a core team ready. Once I was done with that, I embarked on a quest to get him AW Prince, and guess what? I just did.
I am not going to lie, I am pretty proud of myself right now, especially considering the state of the account at the time I got my hands on it.

I think you do have a point about synergy. The Pirates can take advantage of Helena's AW ability, though in my case I don't have any premium Pirates/Gunners/Totono. Though given given all the CR'ing she has/does, I was already thinking she'd be best on Majin maps.
In my case, I wish I had a good Pirate. But then again, I have Gellius as my main Tank, and I know you want him, so it evens out.
Actually I've also been juggling around my main team recently to figure out something that works for blind runs best (plus I've acquired some interesting new characters lately...). There are so many occasions where I find myself thinking "if only I had x in the team", and Mia doesn't need to be there all the time.
I think I got into a habit of using guides because I don't like wasting charisma/stamina, and when I first started I was trying to get through as many event maps as possible (which in hindsight I shouldn't have worried about). Most of the time I can't replicate the guides exactly and need to play around with substitutes, but not using a guide at all would definitely be more satisfying. I should just throw myself into the next event and see what happens lol.
I've actually got enough RC for either Danchou or Cynthia atm, but I'm undecided on which, plus I have so many other units to raise, so I'm leaving it for now. And I did actually run off and 2AW Helena already, but I probably am at the point where I can try Lv6+ Majin maps.
And I was holding off trying Lv6 Vepar because the guides use Anya, and mine isn't AW'd yet... stuff that, I know what I'm doing right now.
Grr.......
I really want him on 4'th tab of Team (Male Only)
I do already have AW Garret , and I think it will be fine too. But I want Gellius >.>
As for 1'st Team , Gellius is kinda obsolete as I have Mireille
I have tried like 4-5 time whenever he appears at spotlight , but I got someone else instead......
Sometime , after cleared the Event mission with 1'st Team
I ran it again with 4'th Team , just for fun~
Watching Vincent AW Skill is amusing XD
As for Blind Run , I do also used guide when I don't have AW Unit
I'm not saying bad , just take Your time and try not to rely on it too much
Step by step~
As for Majin Map , there is so many other way to defeat them (Whelp atleast not those 11-15 which kinda need almost same unit Cornelia - Elyse - Rion)
You think Anya is needed that much?
I cleared Lv 6 with Bernice IIRC , damn My hazy memories
Def don't have Anya before / when the time I cleared Lv 6 Vepar
Don't get stuck with guide......
As for Danchou - Cynthia
I think You shouldn't get them
I already have them both
But I cannot / still undecided where or how I used them.... >.<
If I kicked Metus , when there is Golem
I lacked DPS. I killed those Golem easily on Eden map with her even tho blind ran
If I kicked xxxxxx , I might ..........
If I kicked xxxxxx , I might ..........
If I kicked xxxxxx , I might ..........
So yeah , sometime it's better to have fewer unit
Not that I regret getting them~
It's just...... T^T

Bashira: "Anna-san, here's where the goblins appeared!"
Nenya: "Bashira and I spot them while on patrol! Ehhen!"
Anna: "No one lives in this area anymore, there's nothing but deserted houses, so I didn't think the goblins would show up here. Good work, you two!"
??? (Aoba): "—Stop right there, bakeneko!"
Bashira: "... Eh?"
Nenya: "... B, bakeneko?"
???: "No matter how hard you to try to mimic a human form, those cat ears are proof more than anything that you're youkai!"
???: "So you were trying to lure humans to unpopular deserted houses to devour them! Damn bakeneko, I shall slay you without fail...!"
Anna: "Pl, please wait a minute! Those girls aren't bakeneko!"
???: "—Mumuh. So they're controlling minds with their supernatural powers...? Controlling minds on top of changing your forms... They must be greater youkai!"
Aoba: "Despicable...! I'll do whatever it takes to defeat those bakeneko; I must save those people... I, Aoba, am on my way!"
Nenya: "N, no waaay..."
(end)
Aoba: "—Kuh, is all lost...? To lose my life without accomplishing anything... M, mortifying..."
Bashira: "P, please calm down! We have absolutely no intention of taking your life."
Anna: "Besides, Bahira-san isn't a youkai. She's a full-fledged 'beastman'."
Aoba: "B, beastman...!? What in the world is that...? Isn't she a mononoke that shape-shifted!?"
Bashira: "I was like this since the day I was born!"
Nenya: "I love cats, so I'm only wearing a cat ear hat on my head..."
Aoba: "I, I jumped to conclusions! There were cat mononoke that transform into humans in my land, so I mistook you for youkai..."
Bashira: "What's done is done, please don't worry over it. More importantly, you look like you're unusually fixated on exterminating youkai...?"
Aoba: "... Actually, I'm a sniper that specialises in exterminating youkai. To slay the enemy that destroyed my home village, I have come to train at the mountains where the Tengu live..."
Aoba: "Actually, without knowing the precise location, I've been having trouble."
Nenya: "The Tengu's mountain? Hmm, I don't know, but perhaps one of our allies might know."
Anna: "Yeah. For the time being, let's go to our allies' place."
Aoba Introduction:
"My name is Aoba. I'm one who travels across the lands as a sniper that specialises in exterminating youkai."
"This journey has just one goal... That is to slay the oni called Shuten Douji who destroyed my hometown."
"However, I couldn't possibly win against the unbelievably strong Shuten Douji with my current strength."
"Then I thought I should train under the wing of a famous Tengu who's said to live in Mount Tengu."
"Why? Because the legends that survived in my hometown from long ago say that the Tengu, while they may be youkai, instructed humans in the military arts long ago..."
"According to the legends, the humans that received the Tengu's teachings ended up being peerless warriors. I wish to master that power at any cost."
"... However, there is one major problem."
"The thing is I don't know the exact location of the Mount Tengu..."
"... Eh? You found one among the Prince's allies that knows the location of Mount Tengu!?"
"I, I want you to lead me there by all means! Of course, I'm not asking you to do it for free. After I finish my training, I promise that I will become the strength of the Prince and his allies!"

Aoba: "Yes. My resolve won't waver. Receiving the Tengu's teachings, if I don't acquire strength that's second to none, I won't be able to accomplish my ambition..."
Bashira: "However, aren't the Tengu also bad youkai like the oni...?"
Aoba: "Bashira-san has good reason to say such. However, the oni led by Shuten Douji and the Tengu have been sharing an antagonistic relationship since ancient times."
Aoba: "I hear the oni who plot to become head of all youkai have attacked Mount Tengu countless times in the past to control the Tengu that bear outstanding abilities and knowledge through Shugen."
Bashira: "If that's true, I can't say there's a zero chance the Tengu will lend their strength to Aoba-san."
Aoba: "Of course, since Tengu are also a kind of youkai, that doesn't change the fact they're a dangerous existence. However, I currently have no choice but to believe in the legends of the Tengu."
Soldier: "—Report! Monsters sighted up the mountain path!"
Anna: "Prince, please prepare for battle at once!"
(end)
Aoba: "Extermination complete... No one's hurt?"
Bashira: "Amazing... Thanks to Aoba-san's support fire, we were able to clear away the monsters without difficulty."
Fudou: "Fumu, Aoba-dono's weapon is a very unusual masterpiece, I'm astonished that you mastered the use of such a thing."
Aoba: "Thank you very much. However, it's no where near sufficient to defeat Shuten Douji. In order to slay my hated enemy, I must become stronger!"
Fudou: "Kakakah. One of the three major youkai, you seriously intend to challenge Shuten Douji?"
Fudou: "Prince, should we not also go up the mountain? Unflinching against such a great foe, there's no reason for us to be nonchalant before one who's undergoing such fierce shugen."
Katie: "Indeed, it's only a matter of time before we fight again with Shuten Douji, so it would be beneficial for us to assist in Aoba-san's training."
Anna: "You're right. Prince, let's also scale the mountain!"

Katie: "I also noticed that. ... I'm sure we were running in a straight line, but could such a thing be possible?"
Fudou: "—Uumu... It must be glamour from the Tengu's divine power. The Tengu can control a mysterious magic-like power."
Anna: "D, divine power...!? Then, we haven't actually left this forest?"
Fudou: "... That may be the case. Moreover, the Tengu can mask their own presence. They might be watching us from nearby."
Anna: "N, no way..."
Soldier: "—R, report! Youkai sighted up ahead!"
Katie: "Kuh... Prince, the mist is getting much thicker. Take note that this'll make it harder for our ranged soldiers to fight!"

Konoha: "Even in these unfavourable conditions, the Karasu Tengu completely lost..."
Konoha: "While you still lack polish, you appear to have good grounding. You said your name was Aoba, correct? Fine, I shall train you personally."
Aoba: "... R, really!?"
Konoha: "Yeah. The clan of oni led by Shuten Douji are quite a nuisance to the Tengu. I didn't think you could fight well, but you're not bad in a support position."
Aoba: "Thank you very much, Konoha-sama! I, Aoba, will try and endure any kind of training!"

Heavenly King of Thunder: "Surrender is too lukewarm, Water. If it's up to me, I would pull of their wings, and kill 'em all."
Heavenly King of the Bold Wind: "Too much merrymaking is not good, Water and Thunder. If you underestimate the divine power of the Tengu, it will lead to your deaths. —Hm? Who are they?"
Anna: "P, Prince, please look over there! The Four Heavenly Kings that are Shuten Douji's underlings...! Don't tell me they came to assault Mount Tengu..."
Heavenly King of the Bold Wind: "... Muu. Those are humans? I thought there wasn't anyone but the mononoke of the Tengu sect of old on Mount Tengu. What shall we do?"
Heavenly King of Heavy Water: "... Kukkukku. For Tengu and humans to join hands, truly interesting. Fine, we'll kill 'em all here."

Anna: "Wa, wait, Aoba-san! Of course the Prince is human!"
Bashira: "Honestly! You'll suspect anything, Aoba-san...! Please ask Tengu-sama to teach you to distinguish between youkai and humans during training!"

Viera: "Ah, that's not what I came here for. Actually, a strong monster appeared near the coast!"
Viera: "That monster, bearing the upper body of a woman and the lower half of a fish, brought a pod of aquatic monsters to the area... I fear it's safe to assume she's the Majin Vepar, who controls the sea monsters."
Viera: "If we leave her be, everyone that lives in the sea will have to spend their days in continual fear of Vepar's existence..."
Viera: "So, I ask of you, Prince. I want you to lend your power."
Viera: "... Eh? You're really going to cooperate? Thanks! Prince is as kind as they say. Well then, I'll go ahead and tell you about some things I want you to watch out for when you fight Vepar."
Viera: "Vepar has the ability to putrefy the wounds of her foes, so keep in mind that you'll receive greater damage than normal if you suffer injuries while she's present."
Viera: "You can't imagine it...? Hmm, I see... You should think of it like a field effect that doubles the damage you'll receive while Vepar is around."
Viera: "So, it will be a fatal mistake to focus on just attacking while ignoring your defences. OK? Make sure you remember, Prince."
Viera: "I believe you already understand, but Vepar is a formidable foe. I don't know how many battlefields you have experienced, Prince, but this is likely to be among the most severe."
Viera: "So, you must challenge this fight after thoroughly training your allies and selecting your team. Prince, don't overdo it..."

Barbastraff: "Hold, Viera! It appears Vepar is returning to Makai... If we follow after her, it may spell the end for us as well."
Viera: "No way... We have the Majin cornered, and you're going to just stand there and let her slip away..."
Anna: "Viera-san, isn't just forcing a legendary Majin to flee from this sea a miraculous result for us?"
Viera: "True... We were able to protect the peace of the sea from that Vepar... If I were to hope for more than this, I'll incur divine punishment~♪"
Anna: "With this, we successfully fulfilled the request from Viera-san, Prince. Well then, let's return home, shall we?"
Viera: "Sorry, Anna. I also want to go, but I'm going to head back to my fellow sailors for now. I want to quickly put their spirits at ease~♪"

Krile Introduction:
"Prince! Bad news!!"
"Sorry for barging into the staff room! But there's something very important I need to talk to you about!"
"... Oh, before that. Prince is the real Prince... right?"
"... Yes? Sorry for asking you a strange thing."
"There seems to be a rumour spreading that the Prince and the monsters have joined armies and are going around invading various places."
"There's no way the Prince would do such an awful thing."
"There's also a report that multiple Princes were sighted... ... Surely this is the work of doppelgangers transformed into the Prince, no doubt."
"I believe the doppelgangers transformed into great people and monsters to mislead their subordinates so they can build up their battle power."
"Deceiving people, how cowardly, I won't forgive them!"
"I also heard tell that a bunch of people and monsters were sighted in the snowy mountains to the north. Perhaps they're gathering the monsters and deceived people up there."
"Before they deceive any more people, let's go beat up those doppelgangers!"
"—Oh, before we head out to subjugate them, I shall go ahead and explain the key points of the upcoming battle, OK?"
"The battle this time will be a 'Great Subjugation Mission' where the goal is to defeat as many enemies as possible."
"Great Subjugation Missions are different from regular missions in that the goal is to 'defeat the enemy'."
"So, defeating the enemy is much more important than preventing casualties on our side will be your primary focus!"
"You'll clear the mission even if your life reaches zero, and the number of enemies you defeated will be tallied in the results."
"So, please focus on defeating as many monsters as possible without fear of being wounded."
"Also, the deployment cost won't recover over time, so don't forget to bring along those with the skill of 'request reinforcement', or Valkyries as members on your team, OK!?"
"Even if you defeat the enemy, you won't receive any EXP, gold, or drops, so keep this point in mind."
"... Since we'll be fighting in the snowy mountains this time, there's a chance our vision will become obscured during a 'snowstorm' in battle."
"But since we're fighting in the snowy mountains, leave everything to me. I shall become the Prince's strength!"
"Also, it'll be hard to fight on the frozen ground, so there may be a limited number of places where all our melee classes may fight."
"Using such slippery ground, the enemy might slip and slide right through our soldiers, so keep an eye out for that, OK?"
"That is all for the explanation for the upcoming battle!"
"There's a difference even among the transformation abilities of the doppelgangers. On one hand, it's only possible for them to mimic the forms of strong people up to their individual levels."
"On the other hand, if it's a strong doppelganger, then they can transform into powerful monsters."
"Monsters and people being led by doppelgangers on top of fighting in the snowy mountains you're not acclimated to, I think we're gonna get forced into a fiercer battle than usual."
"However, I believe that if it's the Prince, we'll definitely win!"
"Let us finish the battle quickly; I would like to use this opportunity to enjoy the winter scenery! Well then, Prince, 'Great Subjugation Mission' start!"
Thanks for this; you've confirmed/elaborated on what I've been thinking. Up until a week ago, I was going to choose Danchou because I didn't have the DPS to really benefit from Cynthia, and then
You must be registered to see the links
... So with her plus Kayou, I think I can choose Cynthia now. I already have three good Tanks (Gellius, Palfy, Hibari) I can alternate between, and other options I haven't raised yet, so I'll leave Danchou for now.
I think I'm actually going to stop rolling in the shrine now until Pirates get 2AW. I need to focus more on raising everyone now (this last week has been a great help).
I think You shouldn't get them
I already have them both
But I cannot / still undecided where or how I used them.... >.<
Honestly, I'm not sure where I'd be for Main Tanks if I didn't have Gellius; maybe I'd have raised Alicia sooner, or maybe I'd have ticketed Cornelia instead of Black Iris.
The main reason I wanted to get Anya raised is because a lot of guides for harder maps were using her. But of course, I want to rely on guides less, so raising her will be less of a priority now. Especially since I do want to try out Cynthia. I have the units to synergise with her now, so I'm going to see if she does fit my playstyle. She seems especially good for subjugations and majin.
I almost got three stars when I tried Vepar Lv6 again this morning, but she still managed to take out Black Iris. I've probably been placing Gellius too close to her though; I'll try putting him further out next time and see what happens. I wasn't completely blind going into this, since I have done 1-5 (with guides), but there's a lot of stuff I forgot too, so getting this far does have a better sense of achievement about it.
Edit: I figured Aoba would be Youkai based off her name/especially her design. It's an improvement over Orcs and GOBLINS, but I still wonder if Undead might've been more useful.
And darn Thetis doesn't have AW2 art </3... Come back ukyo rst.
Reginleif (レギンレイヴ): deploy cost when unit 0 deployed -3; recovers cost when defeats enemy; completely restores cost when retreats; magic resistance raised (+10).
Geirölul (ゲイレルル): deploy cost when unit 0 deployed -3; recovers cost when defeats enemy; completely restores cost when retreats; attacks all blocked enemies (2)
Geirölul sounds waaaaay better to me. That 'first unit deployed' gimmick sounds neat, though it doesn't do good things for valkyrie tribal. +10 MR for a first-deploy unit sounds really unimpressive...
Since Clissa-da's my first premium black, might as well show her off here.
Raw Stats
No Actives outside of her own skill. The raw stats is quite impressive considering that you can conserve Lapis (scarred for life), Uzume, and dancer for something else:
Passives: Aria, Uzume, Kikyou, Aisha, Matsuri
Deploy passive: Cynthia
Meanwhile Thetis's doing well in the first-deploy auto afk cost regen deployment with her original art still. *grins*
Conclusion is based purely on your preference. But if you have Thetis raised, it's highly suggested to go black straight as opposed to white pony-tail. *yes I did it on purpose*
