"It has it's uses, you just need to use it with moderation." Ai airs her thoughts about such devices, following after Mary. They did have some not-boss areas in there. She is thinking about the corridor that goes past the metal door.

The two walk past the door and farther on northward until the path turns to the west, and they are shortly presented with two options; there is a door to the north and another to the south.

"We'll likely be visiting both directions, so let's jus go forward to the northern one." Ai suggest as they are presented with more door-related options.

The two enter the room and find it mostly empty, except for a cushy chair in the middle. Sitting in it is a middle-aged man, reading an old book. Oh, you must have come for the key, eh? He gave them a strange look and asked what, do you not like me like this? Suddenly he began to... change... and before them stood a little girl who could be no more than eight years old, wearing a nice pink dress. Do you like this better? she asked, now with a perfect imitation of a little girl's voice. Another change took place, and soon a voluptuous woman in shiny black armor, ropes strangely wriggling about her arms. I think I prefer this, personally. You'll have to take that key from me if you want to see the master.

"Um wait, can we slow down here? What's going on...maybe we can come back or something...?" Mary wasn't even sure what she was saying, all she knew is that she wanted to make another terrible pun as she cast slow on the shapeshifter.

Recognising the familiar casting of Mary's new slow spell, Ai goes forward to take her appointed spot as the melee part of the pair. Slightly embarassed by another pun that was not going to be the last one, she brandishes her blade at the shapeshifter with a mighty swing.

Realizing what was going on, and also the young mage's terrible pun, the shapeshifter frowned. Ohhhhhh myyyyyyy Godsssss... That... was... terrible...

Ai's attack cuts the shapeshifter just at the edge of her armor, causing the woman to shudder as blood trickles down onto the ground.

11 vs. 21

The shapeshifter causes the ropes to fly out and whip at Ai, but she is moving quite slow, and Ai easily avoids them.

"Hey now...don't be so hasty to declare my puns bad..." Mary can't help but say this line with a terrible smirk.

She readies a magical blast to fire at the shapeshifter. "I can't help but think we might have been able to talk this out though...maybe I was too fast to fire..."

"I knew it..." Ai thinks, trying to focus her attention away from the bad puns and return it back to fighting the shifter facing them. She presses the attack, doing her best to utilize the slowdown.

Mary's blast glances off the shapeshifter's armor, but Ai lands another attack at the edges of it, wounding the creature.

Ai once again manages to jump out of the way of the ropes that try to whip her.

Ai manages to connect another hit with her second attack, Mary's blast ricocheting off from the shifter's armor. "Mary please, try to hit the enemies..." she thinks

With the effect of the slow soon leaving, Ai takes her best shot at the thing when she's able to.

Mary aims another blast at the shapeshifter. "Hate to waste time like this...are you sure you can't just give us the key?"

She pondered if the the enemy would take damage if she delivered a bad enough pun.

Mary and Ai can't get in hits on the shapeshifter even though it's slowed down considerably, which is worrying considering that it'll soon be faster.

Ai manages to jump out of the way of the ropes that whip at her once again.

16 vs. 15

Mary casts Slow again, causing the shapeshifter to curse loudly, and also to pay too little attention to Ai, who manages to cut it.

5 vs. 13

Ai is still easily able to get out of the way of the shapeshifter's attack.

"It's a powerful monster, that's for sure..." Ai ponders, noticing they are having difficulties hitting even a slowed shifter. Evading a whiplash, she can see the monster return to normal briefly before Mary hits it with another slow.

"Gotta try harder..." are Ai's thoughts after another exchange of attacks, her success still going as she manages to both hit and evade. There was still some way to victory over this thing, which Ai set upon with her blade swinging.

"I kinda wish we could keep this pace up forever..." Mary says as she resorts to blasts, now out of magical energy. She tries to circle around, attempting to flank the shifter with Ai in a manner.

It slaps at Ai with the ropes, and this time connects, entangling her just a little.

"Ahh!" Ai yelps in surprise as she gets tangled after her badly timed strike. Struggling against the ropes on her arms, she takes a swing at them in an attempt to free herself.
