Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

The two of them can now return to the last T-junction and either take the last path they hadn't taken, southward, or go back to the three way intersection and begin exploring the eastward path more.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Let's head southward for now." Mary suggests, wondering what they'd find.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Don't worry about it.. you did good.." Ai consoles her partner as she apologizes, agreeing with the suggestion to move south

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

This path is particularly dreary and run-down, a part of the spire where the upper floors don't rest on the ceiling, which is falling apart. They make their way through the damp corridor to another wooden door to the west, warped and cracked from the moisture.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"I don't think the doors have failed us yet~" Mary says, moving forward to open this new door.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Once again the enviroment shows it's power on this path, with the damp corridor's ceiling partially collapsed. A warped door soon appears before them
"They haven't.." Ai replies, following her friend closely to the door

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

When they open the door, they find a room that is crumbling at the edges, part of the roof collapsed. Trees have begun to take root through the broken and cracked floor, and the swamp has all but reclaimed this part of the spire. In the middle of the room sits a large metal chest; the two can tell that it was once beautiful and ornate, but by now it looks nearly rusted shut.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

They enter a room with a partially collapsed roof, already seriously grown-in by the surrounding swampland.
"Where do they get all these chests...?" Ai thinks as she heads towards it, seeing if it can be opened despite all that rust covering it

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"This one HAS to be a mimic. Look at how ornate it is." Mary says, moving forward and trying to open the chest, while at the same time taking in the wonderful detail the game provides for the room.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

The chest slowly creaks open, taking much effort to get open. When it finally did open the chest was full of a layer of slime... It very slowly rose up into a feminine form; it somehow looked very tired, and perhaps a little sad. A pair of... travelers... it said, slowly. It's been... many years since a human... opened me... This place... is dying... Much like... me... A sad smile crossed the slime's face, and it looked to Ai and Mary, asking have you... by chance... met my children...?

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Your children...? We've opened many chests around here...but none of them have been such as you. It is sad, to hear that you are dying."

Mary's tone of voice clearly reflected that it was indeed sad that this mimic was dying.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Seeing the slime woman form from the chest makes Ai wary, but as it starts to speak, she eases herself. Ai replies to the slime's question with a shake of her head as the mage takes care of talking with it

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Hmm... Well... they're in here... somewhere... the slime replied. So why... are you here...? Have you... lost someone...?

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Where are your children? And, we're here looking for treasure, actually, and to explore. We find it fun." She nods. "Is there any way we can help you?"

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Yes, we'll do our best to help." Ai says, going along with Mary

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

I don't... know... I haven't left this chest in... several hundred years... I am sure they found... empty chests to make their home... Treasure seekers...? I suppose that makes sense... There is treasure here, after all... the slime said. It smiled when the two offered to help it, and said I have lived for... many, many years... My death is inevitable... But you can... help me... It eyed Mary carefully and asked do you have any... magical talent...?

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Mary gives a small grin. "I do...And...I know the price~. I'd be happy to in exchange for some knowledge...though I'd be happy to even without a reward." Mary winks as she says the last part, giving the mimic a smile to know she would enjoy it.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Seeing her friend smirk at the suggestion, Ai gets a vague idea what this "price" might be about. But if Mary was willing, she wouldn't object to increasing her magic powers.

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

Price...? The mimic tilted her slimy head and stared at Mary for a few moments before replying oh... you think that I... want to have sex with you... I actually had... a different price in mind... Over the centuries I learned much of the ways of magic... That magic has... deteriorated... but I have wanted for many years to pass it on... Come closer, so I may... lay my hands on you... In return, you must... promise me to... defeat the master of the spire, who is... responsible for so much suffering... and to help my children, when you find them... to get out of this... rotting place... The mimic smiled happily at the two girls and said with that, I can go on to paradise without regret...

Re: Ai and Mary (64 and Kakka)

"Oh." Mary says when she finds out the mimic didn't have the same thing in mind. Though slightly disappointed in that, she listened as the mimic spoke. Stepping forward as requested. Nodding at the old mimic's request. "I promise. I will carry on your magic and defeat the master at the top of the spire. I will do everything I can to help your children."

It wasn't quite what she expected, but Mary thought she probably liked this better. Having a goal would be interesting. And she really did want to help this mimics children.
