He switched from using HentaiUnited, where people could have signed up for a month or two through his affiliate page to get the game and access to a lot more, to Patreon which is like Kickstarter with a monthly rebill. Then when he under-delivered, he responded to the criticism with "RARGH FUCK YOU. I'M AN ARTIST, I'LL DO WHAT I WANT. YOUR MOTHER SECRETLY SUCKS MY DICK EVERY NIGHT". Even to people who raised reasonable concerns with well-moderated language. Granted, he had a right to be frustrated, and even upset given some of the comments he was dealing with. It just went way over the top.

That's pretty much it. If you were around at that point, he came over as a petulant twat with rage issues, who was taking everyone for suckers. If he delivers a better product this time around, something that gets close to the promises, or at least isn't one room and 9000 chibis for new content, I imagine most people will forget about the old days quickly.

Evidently the game has been fully proofread, but the testers have discovered several bugs. He seems to be getting frustrated with that. I might be reading too much into it, but right about now with WT is where the leaked beta, and the alleged C&D from Warner that could be bypassed by taking "Hermione" out of the title came in, and forced him to release early and abandon the project until a bug-fix release a couple months later.

I tested the game myself countless times, but of course both DAHR and Xaljio already managed to break the game more then once. (Fucking bastards). I'll be fixing those bugs while the test continues... Also Lyk just finished proofreading all texts... Also it's already march is still no release... -_- Thank you for supporting me despite anything, you guys are the best... OTL..."

i find this kind asshole yes ofcourse is the thoes 2 fault ! DAHR and Xaljio already managed to break the game more then once.

from my view point i dont care spell name right abukur what ever buying time that he is not doing nothing, because you are only me friends that i have in world show me some money bitches ! like he write back on hes blog sad panda...byhyy byhyy. Its fucking thoes 2 fault ! the destroy game !

Either way that's good news. The game will probably release in a few weeks since the art and writing is apparently finished and the only thing left to do is beta test some more and correct the bugs that they discover.

I have to say that i find the picture in the back of his post very nice. It promises quite a lot of customization i always wanted for the game!

and 16 obedience tests sounds nice as well

That must explain it. The level of hate has puzzled me as well. Especially since his Patreon is SUPER clear that his games are freeware and it's SOLELY a tip jar. So I couldn't figure out why people are so cranky. I guess I wasn't around for that.

Well, I'm sure a few people will be crass enough to complain about freeware smut even if they never contributed a dime. There's always a few people in any crowd who just want to complain to hear themselves talk. There are plenty of areas where I feel both WT and PT failed to deliver on concepts I'd have preferred, but guess what? I can't code so I'm not gonna gripe about the results of those who can.

Agreed on the customization, but had to LOL at the typo of "Public Hair". ^_^

What do you mean by "obedience tests"? Is this part of the "pay for obedience training, Jasmine grows more willing to obey commands" mechanic? I'm not familiar with the terminology.

I have to say, I always felt like such games should have more of a sense of resistance being overcome. PT never made sense in that, why would Jasmine cooperate at Madam McBoobs' Obedience School? Ie., why would it have any effect on her? Realistically if the game were set in a medieval world and she was still resisting becoming a slave, she would have to be in shackles or otherwise restrained, and this is not shown. I guess it's all fantasy anyway, so it's a bit silly to gripe over realism.

Still, I hope he makes the whole "improving obedience and sluttiness" mechanic a bit more complex than just "pay gold for training and there's a chance her stat will increase by one". Perhaps a possibility of the stat "backsliding" if you demand a behavior she's not ready for would be a way to make the training simulator more believable.

Well, the leaked beta maybe kinda/sorta happened, but didn't need to affect the release. As I recall, somebody supposedly ripped it off a HentaiUnited server, and I doubt Akabur will put a beta there again, if that's true.

The cease and desist has always been suspicious to most people. He never actually posted the letter. And if there was enough about the game that Warner decided to pursue one, simply changing the title shouldn't have been sufficient to satisfy them. If it was real, chances are he wouldn't still have Witch Trainer on his Patreon page, he probably couldn't have done a bug-fix release publicly, and he wouldn't ever entertain the possibility of a Witch Trainer:Gold Edition.

its kinda funny how he knew it was gonna be pirated since he already added those, "im sorry i didnt have time to finish this scene" inserts. just makes me wonder if he does that asa signature since its in most all his games =/.

Yeah, it's pretty clear he'd already thrown up his hands and abandoned quite a few of his plans. The state of the game certainly wasn't likely to change much, even if he'd waited another month or two to release it officially. At most, Akabur can blame a few unfixed bugs, like the "TEST" after every damn dialogue, on the abrupt release. The rest was exactly as he intended it to be, after lowering the bar however much it finally dropped.

The 4 Houses thing was something that cropped up on 4chan, I guess. It died like most everything there. Since then it's cropped up as something that could eventually be incorporated into Silver, but I don't think it's there yet. The last time I played Silver, there wasn't much new, and what was there was still riddled with bugs. I also heard that the Russian version was using the 4 Houses assets to do something similar, but it's hard to come by solid news on the Russian version these days. It seems like they've retreated to the Russian section of their forum, and it doesn't look they're even posting monthly updates.

All Silver has is some UI tweaks and dress-up options. I was never interested in non-story type of stuff like that so Silver isn't very interesting to me, so the abundance of bugs just makes me ignore it these days. The 4 Houses mod is kind of still being worked on, but the guy doing all of the art for it doesn't have a writer anymore so he's essentially working for nothing now.

this just shows how much akabur appreciates when somebody else takes time away from their projects to help him out with his =/.
