"Workshops, huh? That's one of the places we haven't checked." Alia nodded, focusing on a moment to recall the places they've seen. "At least it's not in the garden. Only way I'd like to deal with that place is with fireballs. Anyway, we'll go get it." With that, the mage followed after Karaz. Once they cleansed the place and put the nun to rest it'd be time to head back and collect their reward.

(Do you guys want to go the short way around through the Garden, or the long way around through the Hospital? The chapel doesn't directly connect with the other buildings, so trying to walk straight there would bring you uncomfortably close to it.)

The girls elected to make their way back around the borders of the convent, to avoid the overgrown demon plants making their home in the once well tended garden. On the way, they saw the pregnant nun, now clothed in a simple tunic and deep in conversation with the tiny blue imp. Judging by he sewing kit and remnants of old habits lying nearby, she had made i herself over the last few hours. Darla gasped and ran over to her as they walked in.
"Sister Wissa, you're safe!" cried the novice as she hugged the pregnant girl. "Did you get away somehow? Are you hurt?" she asked, concerned but relieved.
"Yes, something like that," responded the older nun, a faint smile on her face but worry in her eyes. She looked to the girls, put a finger to her lips, and shook her head with a pleading stare. "Don't worry about me. You were the one locked in that tiny hermitage without food for weeks! You should really be resting."
The nuns seemed to want to talk from some time. The girls could move on, and pick up Darla as they left, or talk with them for a while.

"We'll just let you two catch up," Arkeia said, and gestured for the goblin to follow them off instead, assuming Karaz didn't beat her to it or order him to stay. He had proven himself useful so far, and another set of eyes might be useful if the workshop proved itself as tainted as the rest of this place.

Faeyna smiled at seeing the nun and scampered over and nussled her. "Hi." She then hurried off to follow the others, making her way towards the hospital to get to the workshop. Soon they'd have the incense and be able to put the soul where it belonged! Yay!

"We'll go grab the incense and come back soon." Alia caught the nun's pleading look and nodded slightly, acknowledging her request. "Once we've purified the altar and burned the body as the Mother Superior's spirit requested, we can leave this place and go back to town. I don't think there's anything left for us here. You two can stay here if you want, we'll take care of this just fine." The mage followed the rest of the group to the workshop.

As soon as the girls opened the doorway to the hospital, they were on edge. The evening light came through the high windows only in thin beams, obscured by tattered curtains and hangings webs stretched across the ceiling. Giant spiders of various types were always a problem in forests like this, and it seemed that in the nuns' absence, some had happily moved in to the dark, warm recesses of the sisters' hospital. Or worse, it was often said that the dark elves had a certain affinity for spiders...
The girls progressed into the main chambers, where even now the smell of boiled herbs and the slight metallic scent of blood still filled the air. Row after row of cot ran to the back of the web-lined room, many of the wooden frames that once help privacy curtains destroyed in the invasion. An apothecary's workshop was set into an alcove, and a number of shelves and cabinets lay open, fallen, or smashed.
Light fell upon the far wall of the chamber, at what was there gave the girls a start. A thickly built and busty woman, dressed in a dirty white robe, bound tightly in webs. She seemed to be sleeping, perhaps poisoned by her captors. Judging by the roundness of her belly, the spiders wouldn't be far off, and would probably want the girls just as badly. Already, beady eyes shone in the dark, scrabbling along the surfaces in search of their prey.
Spare one thought Faeyna, and then she wondered why she thought that. It wasn't was though they could speak to anima- wait.

Arkeia groaned in disgust at the sight of the woman's bloated belly, and could only imagine how it had achieved such a state. "Kill them. Kill them all," she said coldly, shivers of disgust slowing her steps and dampening her enthusiasm slightly. Not enough to stop her from sweeping her gaze around, carefully eyeing the webs to make sure she didn't get caught in them before she lunged with both blades at one of the nearby spiders. She jabbed her rapier through its carapace and wrenched it away, impaling the flailing thing through its jaws with her shortsword and then sending its corpse flying backwards before she retreated, hoping to avoid any reprisal.

"Oh Hell no!" Alia shouted, staring at the mass of arachnids and webs in front of her. "Fucking Hell, shit like this is exactly why fireballs were invented!" The mage swore as she acted quickly. There were too many little buggers to bother with magic missiles, it'd take ages to plink them all down. Instead, the girl opted to cast Mage Armor on herself, fortifying her defenses in preparation for going into melee. Her scythe would be more effective here.
Mage Armor on self for +4 AC goodness.

The spiders were just looking to breed and survive like everything else. They just tended to use others to do it. But hey, she could talk to them! She cast her Speak with Animals spell.

Once we take the humans out of here you can probably have the whole building to yourselves instead! So give us the human and I'll speed the eggs up in her so you can still have your young, and we'll go get what we came for and leave. Can catch other better prey once we're all gone!"

Webs draped themselves over Karaz in a matter of seconds, as two hissing arachnids leapt on her, sinking fangs into her side and her exposed neck. Karaz could already feel the creatures' poison taking hold. She fought drowsiness; to pass out now would mean waking up with a belly full of eggs.

(Karaz suffers 13 damage and is Drowsy and Entangled)
Arkeia scarcely fared better as a spider dropped onto her back from somewhere in the shadowy webs above. Another spider shot webs across the pirate as she felt the sharp pain of the spider's fangs on the nape of her neck, allowing the poisons easy access to her system.
(Arkeia suffers 7 damage and is Drowsy and Entangled)
"We stand no chance, girlboy?" came the chittering voice of the nearest spider, approaching Faeyna while another crept up on the mage behind her. "The queenlings already lied to us, they told us we could have some of the nice smelling girls in this wooden cave, but they took them all! Left us only with the half dead girl. We'll take all of you was our late payment!"
(It's possible to intimidate the spiders into giving up and maybe even helping you, but you'll need to teach them a lesson first.)

"Aw fuck." Alia swore as she saw Karaz and Arkeia get swarmed. This was not good, not good at all. She'd have to intervene before they were brought down by the numbers stacked against them. Deciding to risk leaving herself open to the one creeping up on her if it meant saving her friends, the mage began to cast. "Hear me, spirits of air and shadow!" She chanted, raising her scythe above her head. "Ye who shroud the minds of men in night and lead them down the paths of Dream!"
"I call upon your names, Zephyr and Umbra, and summon your power! Take the fools before me in your grasp and cloud their senses with oblivion of sleep! As I command, so it shall be!" Finishing, she slammed the butt of her scythe into the floor, releasing a wave of arcane power that rapidly reached the spiders assaulting Karaz and Arkeia, sending four of them down to the ground, locked in brief magic slumber, giving the party a bit more breathing room, if only for a moment.

beating the enemy Will by a large margin. Two spiders engaging Karaz and two spiders engaging Arkeia fall asleep, I believe.

Shrieking as she felt a spider drop down onto her shoulder, Arkeia hissed in pain as she felt its fangs sink into her flesh, the pain masking the injection of poison for only a moment before it began to affect her. The pirate's arms limbs were suddenly leaden, and her eyes drooped slightly as her flailing weakened. A burst of webbing bound her feet to the ground, but her struggles did not cease as she tried to jab her weapons at the spider on her back, trying to kill it but failing to reach it despite her increasing panic.
(I forgot the dex penalty on all those above rolls, but it didn't matter this time. Will try to remember next time.)
