Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger
Coins and keys in hand Rikke returned back to the cells. She found Irianna standing where she was when she left. Thankfully her radiance potion caste more light than the feeble lamp. Just past Irianna lay a mass of humanity. They wore nothing but rags at best and nothing at worse. Each bore heavy copper chains. While not the best material to make such things from it resisted rust far easier than than iron doors. Irianna watched as Rikke fumbled with the big lock.
"You should hurry before the Lord returns. No doubt he has sensed the drop in his power. Even in a weakened state he will end you." Her voice carried a certain assured tone though Rikke got the hint that Irianna wasn't trying to frighten her but give her a sense of urgency. Her tone however could be worked on.
With a skin crawling screech the lock opened. Smiling Rikke pulled on the cell door.... it wouldn't budge. Heaving and grunting the door would not budge. Watching Irianna stepped up. "May I?" Waiting for Rikke to clear the door Irianna leaned back and kicked causing it to fling open. Stepping out the woman looked back at the people and hesitated. In return Rikke notice a few looked at her with outright hate. Moving aside she let Rikke in to free the prisoners. A fair number looked at her with unease, but a small number offered up their chains to be undone. More disturbing was two woman who just lay there. They still breathed and were awake but just sat. Looking to the other prisoners Rikke saw the last few leave taking the lamp with them, a few choosing to swear at Irianna or spit at her. For the most the woman stood there and took it only wiping the spit off, but making no move on the freed people.
