Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Coins and keys in hand Rikke returned back to the cells. She found Irianna standing where she was when she left. Thankfully her radiance potion caste more light than the feeble lamp. Just past Irianna lay a mass of humanity. They wore nothing but rags at best and nothing at worse. Each bore heavy copper chains. While not the best material to make such things from it resisted rust far easier than than iron doors. Irianna watched as Rikke fumbled with the big lock.

"You should hurry before the Lord returns. No doubt he has sensed the drop in his power. Even in a weakened state he will end you." Her voice carried a certain assured tone though Rikke got the hint that Irianna wasn't trying to frighten her but give her a sense of urgency. Her tone however could be worked on.

With a skin crawling screech the lock opened. Smiling Rikke pulled on the cell door.... it wouldn't budge. Heaving and grunting the door would not budge. Watching Irianna stepped up. "May I?" Waiting for Rikke to clear the door Irianna leaned back and kicked causing it to fling open. Stepping out the woman looked back at the people and hesitated. In return Rikke notice a few looked at her with outright hate. Moving aside she let Rikke in to free the prisoners. A fair number looked at her with unease, but a small number offered up their chains to be undone. More disturbing was two woman who just lay there. They still breathed and were awake but just sat. Looking to the other prisoners Rikke saw the last few leave taking the lamp with them, a few choosing to swear at Irianna or spit at her. For the most the woman stood there and took it only wiping the spit off, but making no move on the freed people.

Rikke looked on silently to what was happening and just as the last of those, who choose to escape left, the girl approach the female 'Enjoying quite the popularity among them, eh?' the rogue smiled to the girl in a friendly manner, before motioning her to wait as she'd step inside closer to those still left... these were likely the most dangerous kind of captives - the ones that would protect and serve their master in desperation 'You don't have to stay here. Please... there's a whole world outside. Don't give up.' she'd speak as she'd remain knelt nearby,,, though wouldn't push them. They would take time to heal...

Besides it was time to see who her unknown 'ally' was 'Anything else left in this ruin?' Rikke smiled 'Don't worry about me, I'm stronger than--AH...' Rikke winced subtly as her injuries definedly wouldn't even let her finish that sentence! 'Y-yeah... lets head out for now.'

Still as Rikke lead the way onwards she'd not remain silent 'You were one of the jailers here, of this disgusting cult. Weren't you?' she'd share openly.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Irianna watched Rikke interact with the broken women. Seeing her coax and try to persuade them to leave and fail the woman spoke up. "Slaves I will be your Mistress and my first command is for you to follow me." The woman eagerly rose to their feet and rushed to Irianna. At this she frowned the sad look in her eyes deepened. No doubt seeing the disgust in Rikke's eyes she spoke. "Would you rather leave them to who ever finds them next like the crimson lord?"

Asking her questions the woman shook her head. "There should be no others. The main half of the cult left to spread their.. faith..." Irianna looked at the two woman who followed her wordlessly. "No doubt they where planning to expand their number with the slaves. Speaking of did you deal with the cultists?"

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke didn't have any disgust in her eyes, quite the opposite! 'Smart.' she'd comment and smirk to Irie, before the girl shared about the activities of the cult 'Hum... thats annoying, but after I take care of their god the worship should stop.'

'The others? The big idiot decided to take his own life. The others I left back there all tied up.' Rikke would motion her head towards the crystal 'We should probably take them out as well... But you'll be taking mr. pissy-pants.' she'd smile to the woman and motion her to follow. Afterall, the idiots might stumble right off the edge... or get back to the worship, both options equally annoying.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

The group quickly moved to their captors wordlessly a silence thick and unnerving. Upon seeing the bound men Irianna directed her new companions to take their daggers and carry two of the men. Irianna herself moved to the big guy and took his sword before hefting one herself over the shoulder leaving just one for Rikke. With that the group left the three not speaking leaving Rikke to voice anything or ask questions if she wanted.

Irianna answered what she would and eventually the group made it outside to find the bandits where gone but some very angry captives outside with all sorts of makeshift weapons at hand. Irianna seemed to sense the mood and dropped her burden quick drawing the blade she had taken down below. Her companions did the same drawing the wicked daggers and stepping in front of her. Rikke was about to say something when Irianna stepped in front of the woman and told them to stand down, leaving her to face off against the horde alone. "You are free to do as you wish, but I will defend myself." Her eyes narrowed and for once Rikke felt a dark threat emanate from her. As the warrior woman's eyes narrowed.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke seemed like a far different creature to the grim and silent prisoners, as the girls encouraging smile hardly faltered even in the darkness "One of them actually got so spooked... You know, nevermind. But I'm not touching Mr. Undies."

Their walk back wouldn't be silent either "How long?" she'dspeak up "How long have you been on the wrong side?" she'd look to Iriana and after hearing the answer she'd add "Why'd you stop? What happened to change you?"

As they walked Rikke would listen to the girls story, even commenting "I need to know know, Ishie." as the girl heard the disgruntled upstairs, coupled with an off feeling in the air.

When they reached the top Rikkes intuition proved right as a small group remained to seek revenge. It was a scene Rikke would not allow.

"What would bloodshed serve here? Are you all so keen to darken your hands with blood?" Rikke would draw her blade as she'd step between the two groups "You wont find justice like this. You'd just become the same cruel creatures like your captors. Do you truly wish to hurt someone. Go find Emilia, heal and rest. You're free dont waste this chance."

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Irianna slowed a moment before answering. "I don't remember much to be honest with you. I was young and foolish and it seemed that Jerimah had all my answers. I remember that much at least. I do know that I was eighteen and its been eight summers." For the moment Irianna stopped speaking letting the group walk in a silence till she answered the next question. "It was one of the town guard... a young woman she reminded me of someone I used to know. She was defiant and green, barely able to hold the spear she had been given. I could have felled her in a single blow but I didn't. A rush of memories had flooded back to me and it probably saved her life. I got so angry that I came back and cut my way down threw the cultist till I got stopped by that blasted snake man and Bravan. I guess they didn't kill me so I could be the next sacrifice to the Crimson Lord."

At the top after a brife climb Rikke spoke up. Most of the group seemed disheartened and unsure at her words with a few even dropping their weapons and leaving but one of them a big brute of a man stood firm holding a rusty sword he had probably pulled from the ruin. "I won't let this go outsider what they did to us down there... you have no right. We demand justice!"

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Is it justice to cut down those that helped you escape?" Rikke snapped back at the enraged man "You look strong, join the others and help fight the cultists. There's no justice in bloodshed here. Unless you wish to aid that dark god, the dark god which caused all this." not only did the rogues voice sound true, not only was the stranger an absolute hero to the people.... but the repressed man couldn't help but note just how awe-strickingly stirring the beauty was!

Rikke would trust the man to make the right choice... Though if he didnt, the girl had other means to make the men stand-down. Be it force or charm!

Rikke's arguments seemed to take the fight out of most of them. However the man that confronted them seemed to hold his grudge but seeing his support evaporate around him he just shook his fist. "This isn't over cultist whore. I will get revenge on you!" With that he left with the other spitting obscenities about Irianna. It appears we will not be welcome in town.....

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke shook her head at the mans anger and sighed sadly, facing the trio of girls previously targeted 'Some wounds take longer to heal, hopefully he won't let it fester.' the girl smiled to the girls 'We'll go see Emilia. If anything we all have a common enemy.' she'd nod, but seemed to not move onwards quite yet 'However if you wish to start anew, you cannot carry such tainted weapons. Discard them away.'

Rikke looked to the wicked daggers and the darkness blade 'Those were used for dark deeds, there's no washing them. They'll taint you even further.' even if the rogue said it in a friendly manner, she'd be adamant about it.

Only after the girls threw atleast the daggers away would Rikke smile to them and give the group an approving nod 'Alright, lets go see Emilia.' not to mention the rogue certainly could use some rest... and a warm bath!

With a nod from Irianna the girls would toss the daggers away. This left the hunk of metal that she carried. In proper light Rikke could see it was basically just that a hunk of metal honed on one side to an edge. The handle of which was wrapped in a crude leather bound by cord. Looking at the thing Irianna dropped it. Much to Rikke's surprise the darkness she felt from the blade seemed to vanish hinting that its taint came from the wielder not the blade itself. If Rikke wanted she could lead them to Emilia but that just brought to mind the mage's own battle with the Crimson Lord.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

As the blade hit the floor its crawling darkness ceased...? Rikke would nod to the trio 'Alright, lets go see Emilia.' she'd motion them to follow, yet as they rushed foward Rikke couldn't help but think over what she just saw. Was the darkness that deeply engrained into tatoo'ed girl, could Rikke even trust turning her back to her?

Rikke shook off the doubts and smiled to herself, Irianna seemed trustworthy... just a girl who had taken some unfortunate turns and dark beliefs, her eyes beared a genuine spark of hope for redemption! Atleast it was what the rogue choose to believe!

Still as they rushed forward, Rikke seemed to clip more branches than she liked. The girls strong facade from before showing some dents as her injuries had not entirely healed, nor had her stamina recovered as much as Rikke would've liked!

Yet just as Rikke considered a brief break, she'd remember that just as the girl fought in the catacombs... Emilia was fighting the Crimson Diety! 'Crap!' the rogues eyes widened, as she quickly turned to her companions 'Emilia might be fighting that entity! Mind if we speed up?' even if it meant pushing herself she had to see how the battle was going!

Rikke and her companions sped forward the rogue's eagerness fueling the other along. As she approached the sanctuary Rikke could smell the scent of blood. Her eyes perceived the slight shimmer ahead of the protection field, allowing her to gaze threw the illusion. What she saw upset her. The small gate to Emilia's house was left open a bloody smear on its handle. The ground around it had a small pool of blood at its base. From that pool drops lead to the door of the cottage which had been left open a trailing bloody smear leading down to what Rikke thought was a figure just inside the door way.

Spurred on by fear Rikke quickly entered the field followed by the two slave woman. However as Irianna approached the barrier she was knocked back by a arc of energy. "Keep going check on your friend. Ill be alright. You two help how you can." The slave woman quickly moved to assist Rikke and what she found.

Clearing the low garden wall Rikke was first to the door to find Emilia laying in a pool of her own blood. Her gossamer white robes stained red. She seemed dead, but the gentle rise and fall of her chest hinted at life. Lifting the girl up Rikke found her dress slashed from shoulder to hip and only fainted red mark hinting at where she had been injured.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

'No... no! No no!' Rikkes heart sank as the sight unveiled itself, the crimson red that she hoped was the enemy not giving the heroine such a relief! "Emilia!" the girl called out and rushed forward not even waiting for the other two!

Rushing forward the girl wouldn't stop until she was at her ally! Rikke quickly and gently picked the girls head up and called out to her "Emilia! Emilia!" she hoped her voice would not allow her to slip away.. or perhaps atleast bring her back!

The girl had one last potion of healing! It wasn't strong, but perhaps... hopefully it would stabilise the horribly injured girl! Popping the cork with one hand the rogue wasn't going to try and drown the girl hoping she'd awake just enough to take the healing aid Rikke had! "Don't worry. I've a healing potion, j-just... open your mouth if you can. Don't speak."

Rikkes heartbeat absolutely rushed at immense speed, her worry all too clear even at the subtlest of glances... So much blood... Why was there so much blood!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Reaching for her potion Rikke felt her stir... "Your so loud...." The girls eyes fluttered open briefly before closing again. The two slave woman looked on the scene clearly clueless in the face of this situation. Rikke not one for listing to direction still fiddled with the cork the gentle rise and fall of Emillia's chest hardly comforting the rogue. If Rikke persisted with her plan she would just get a hand trying to push it away and mumbled I'm fine I'm fine let me rest. Still as Rikke fumbled with Emilia a bright red glow caught her attention. Looking over she saw the obsidian figure that represented the Crimson Lord Shimmer and then melt only to reform into some sort of half skeletal man with burned features and a missing fleshy arm leaving only the bony hand holding its blade.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikkes eyes light up as the girl stirred awake and spoke up "Emilia..." she'd beam a bright smile towards the girl "Don't worry, I'll get you all fixed up! We'll find a medic and-- and I've one more potion---" "It's fine.. I'm fine..." the girl seemed to wave off Rikkes panic "Just... let me rest." Emilia gave Rikke a confident, albeit weak smile, before relaxing in her grasp?

It was then the rogue remember the last time Emilia had sustained a life-threatining injury... The girl was a potent regenerator! Still while it felt wrong to just leave the girl to heal without any real aid, perhaps it was for the best.

Rikke would instead look to carefully pick her up and put her onto the girls own bed "I'll clean her body and clothes, could you two help me clean this mess up?" she'd smile to the slave girls kindly "Oh! And we should tell Irie that everythigns fine."

The rogues eyes wouldn't miss the detail of the shifted creature as it be it the battle injury or heavy loss of followers, had transformered the impossing creature into a more vulnerable but equally horrid sight! Rikke had hoped this signalled the end of the being, yet as it still held its sword... no doubt even like this the Crimson Lord was yet to be defeated.

Whatever the case may be, be it with the girls helps or not, Rikke would look to clean up the bloody mess as well as Emilia.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke found cleaning up Emilia was easy the girl was light and offered little to no resistance. Her cloths however... were a lost cause. The fine silk robes had been torn and stained beyond repair. Using her hands Rikke gently cleaned Emilia's perfectly shaped body. While the girl wasn't as endowed as the rogue herself her proportions were perfect. While she cleaned the two slave woman got busy cleaning up the blood as best they could. It would take some time but eventually Rikke finished just as the girls got to work on the door outside.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Well Rikke could certainly tell why Emilia was referred to as a goddess... The rogue thought to herself, as she'd clean the girls body and slide a gentle cover over the sleeping girl.

Taking the lightly bloodied water bucket to the door, the girl smiled to the duo "Either of you tell, Irie what happened? Tell her that ally I mentioned will need... a light breather, before she can see her." Rikke would giggle lightly and quickly get to finish mopping up and otherwise cleaning the home as if the crimson sight had never occured!

Though if Emilia had not awakened yet, Rikke would go talk to Izie personally "S-sorry about the long delay. Not sure if you could see it, but... it was sort of a horror show in there. My friends fine, but she's resting." the girl looked over the trio "I... could see if I can find something for you three to wear. You think you three could find a place to lay low down in the town for a bit?"

Rikke would think briefly "Er... I guess the most honest, albeit run-down crowd can be found at the docks. The girls working there are a bit rough, but they've a good heart." the girl would nod with a smile.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Neither of the two girls had spoken to their mistress having followed her orders to a T with helping Rikke. In fact they had already cleaned up the front hall and door leaving only the few steps outside to the gate and the gate it self. Deciding to inform Irianna herself Rikke was surprised to see the girl missing. For a moment Rikke thought that maybe she had gone into town. That was until she saw burnt grass and withered plants nearby. They hadn't been there before, looking more closely she found cultist they had captured. All for had been beaten to near death. Had Irianna done that? Looking about now more in a panic she quickly found a few discarded makeshift or rusty weapons as well as fresh blood.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke would return to where she had left off Iri and the cultists, the bunch having been carried by Iri and the two girls if only not to have them murdered by the vemgenful prisoners, perhaps partly following the rogues orders.

Still noting the burnt area, Rikkes gaze would quickly look to the horribly beaten cultists 'Damn it...' the girl sighed in her mind and approached them, flipping each one on their back and looking if they still breathed. The bastards hardly deserved the kindness the girl showed, but killing them would make her hadly better than the dark creatures of the world.

If some seemed to cling near death too close, Rikke would even open her healing potion to give a small sip to the most injured if only to stablise them enough for them to awake. The girl could only hope their spared lives would bring atleast some light to their darkness clouded minds.

Still where did these weapons come from? Rikke would pick up one of the rusty weapons, before looking for any signs of either where the blood lead or echoes of nearby activity. If she caught something, the girl would waste little time to rush in and investigate!
