Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

As Rikke left the barber she heard him say Merker's general store. Thankfully Rikke found herself in the center of town and the store in question was open the soft music of a fiddle playing from inside. Heading in Rikke found a middle aged gentleman calmly playing his fiddle. Next to him a sleepy looking black lab lifted its head to look at Rikke before setting it back down. Inside she found the basics of supplies but mostly for local use. Some fresh produce lined a self as well as some bread. Nearby was a rack of cloths though the only female looking items seemed to be dresses and undergarments discretely packed behind a curtain.

Rikke smiled warmly at the sight and knocked on the door "Hello~" she'd beam the stranger a smile "Mind if I look through your clothing?" the girl saw where it rested, but it only seemed polite to ask. Heck most anything was better than what she currently had... it was a fair surprise noone asked her about it.

Still she'd need the gold for some light armoring and blade, no matter how serene this place seemed it was hardly ever good to be left helpless. Still the rogue would look throught he clothing looking for a elegant, albeit plain white shirt that could serve as her under-armor if need be, as well as casual wear.

As for her lower body, she desperately needed any sort of panties and a short skirt would do the trick! Maybe some plain shoes as well!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

All in all Rikke managed to find just about everything she needed except armor and weapons. The trip to the blacksmith would only reveal that he could indeed make them and repair them but its not something he has really need of to keep in stock. Anything she wanted to order would take several weeks. Still after that disappointing news she counted her money. after cloths and the haircut she had 15 denari left. Once more the smell of roasting meat and grilled vegetables wafted on the air causing her stomach to growl almost angrily at her.

'I hear ya! I hear ya!' Rikke snickered as she put away her coin pouch. Still for a girl who just woke up stark naked with a good foot of hair and later covered in rags, she was back to being her luscious self!.. complete with a shirt lightly showing off her assests.

Still seemed she'd have to make do without a weapon for now... All said and done, a meal sounded absolutely phenomenal right about now! Learning where she was could be quite useful as well.

With that Rikke would finally follow the divine scent, her roaring hunger speeding up her steps all the more. Food!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

It wasn't long before Rikke's nose lead her to the divine smell. Much to her surprise she found a few men sitting down at the table talking over some steaming meat covered in a strange red sauce. Nearby a open top grill sat smoking away as a plump woman tended to a cut a meat. Eyeing the meat Rikke saw a younger man waiting nearby a mug of ale in his hand. As Rikke watched he called out. Hey Jessica don't burn it now. "Ya know I like it a little raw." It seemed that the food was made to order rather than already being prepped earlier. Moving closer she caught her fair share of looks but everyone seemed to be very discreet about it. No cat calls or other comments echoed as the girl approached. Looking over Rikke saw peppers and onions as well as corn and few other things soaking in water ready for the grill. Nearby a small trucnk full of icy water held cuts of meat for her to pick from.

Oh it was someone having an outdoors lunch... Rikkes stomach growled out again as the scent seemed to teasing dance with her senses. Though the girl noticed that people were paying for the food? Oh! It must've been an outdoorsy dinner of sorts!

Her whole body uplifted, Rikke quickly moved in closer. The townsfolk all seemed to be quite polite and simple folk, from their clothing to their discussions... it was certainly a breath of fresh air to slip away from the more murky and corrupt populace!

Still as the girl approached, the tables clearly didn't have any menus and the meat seemed to be on full display? The girl looked around curiously and either asked someone who seemed to be the staff or any other customer, whos eye she'd catch "Excuse me, this is a dinner... right?" how was she to get food here? Rikke hardly ever been to such a strange-approach establishment.

"Hi hon you must be a traveler. We don't get to many of those around here." She would smile at Rikke before explaining to her how it worked. "Well sweety its very simple you pick your veggies and select your meat if any and I grill up right her on Ol'Betsy." The woman would pat the large grill with her spatula sending sparks and kicking up flame from the grill. "Now sense the meat is fresh cut for me this morning mind ya the price is a bit high. Normally I operate in a more traditional way but you just happened to be here at the right day and at the right time. Goddess of spring bless ya so Ill give ya a discount. Only 3 denari for the whole meal." This seemed to cause a bit of a protest from the others around the eatery, with such shouts as 'No fair my cost 5 deanri.' They where all quickly silenced by the woman who gave them all a stern look. "Now boys look at this twig of a girl its like she hasn't eaten in years." All of them looked at Rikke some blushing and some nodding in agreement with the woman.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Thank you!" Rikke beamed the woman a smile, though hearing the grumbles turned around and gave the crowd a smile aswell "I'd appreciate it very much." the girl kept her cheerful smile as very quick, both due to her appearance and mannerism even the most grumpy hearts were soothed.

"Oh~ I'm starving!" she'd giggle and head over to pick out a quite hefty meal! Though she'd still pick the leanest peace of meat she found, hungering or not.. the girl still had wouldn't eat just about anything.

Still with her selection done, she'd sit down and happily wait for her dish to be cooked right up... she was legitemately hungry! The feeling had been lost on her for very very long time now. Strange that it just came back...

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

About ten or so minutes later the plump came around and dropped off Rikke's plate of food her lean cut sizzling next to what ever vegetables she had selected. Next to it the woman set down a small mug of liquid. It smelled very faint of alcohol and oddly it bubbled slightly. "Not sure what you wanted to drink so I gave ya one of our specials. After all its the first day of spring!" Heading off she left Rikke to eat her food and drink the strange drink. If she tried she would catch a hing of lemon and lime though the bubbles on her tongue shocked her a little. Any alcohol in it was very mild. Still after finishing her meal she would find most of the folk having headed off with only a few to replace them. The cook from before was in the middle of prepping more ingredients her large knife making quick work of the vegetables and meats. Now would be the time to ask about where she was. Though as she just began to speak a bell would toll out causing the folk around her to tense up. Once twice three times it rang. As the third chime died out the woman cursed and began to throw meat on the fire rapidly. "Damn, Damn, Damn, got to hurry!" Watching the proceeding Rikke saw two other woman hurry out from the nearby building and start helping the woman cook while the other guests quickly finished up their food and left in a hurry.

Perhaps it was or perhaps it wasn't, but at that moment in time the meal was the most delicious dish Rikke had ever eaten in her life! Even the odd drink was a sheer relief as the girl enjoyed her meal with a huge smile.

Jessica... there was no doubt that was the plump females name, Rikke couldn't help, but wonder how was her lover. Infact, she'd need to atleast send her a letter as soon as she could! Though for now, the girl would just enjoy her meal to its fullest... until something strange happened.

Rikke quickly noted the dramatic shift and looked to anyone nearby, not really daring disturb the cook unless absolutely neccesary "Whats going? Why's everyone so tense?" the girl blinked curiously.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

The woman seemingly having forgotten about Rikke suddenly looked up. "Oh hun you better scoot off before they see ya. No doubt they'll take a pretty girl such as yourself. Quick now go hide I don't want those filthy pirates to see ya." Just as she finished speaking Rikke caught the glimpse of white sails pulling into the harbor, a black flag with a white boot stepping on a skull.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Pirates? Rikkes eyes widened light, judging by the towns reaction this was hardly a rarity. The girl would quickly rush to the woman and look to her "Is there a place I could get a weapon? Any weapon at all." fortunately for the townsfolk they had a hero amongst their mist... though Rikke knew the value of sometimes remaining subtle and low-key, rather than marking the town for trouble.

Still if they had come to raid the peaceful town, Rikke would certainly not cower! Then again... pirates were a very mixed bunch.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"No hun we don't fight these ones they keep us safe from the other pirates. Just go hide for now. Jack's crew are just rowdy sods and an outsider would be fair game. Quick go before they see you." Pushing Rikke along the woman forced her out of sight before heading back to the grill. "Come on sisters we get this meat ready and maybe they won't trash the place this time." Doing what she would Rikke would soon find the town full of colorful characters all with that sea swagger about them and armed to the teeth. For the most part they seemed to treat any townies they met with casual indifference though a few did harass a pair of local girls who quickly ran off. Almost all of them headed for the dinner Rikke was just at though she did catch one in a fancy red coat heading for the barber. he had simple bandana round his head holding down his dark locks of hair which trailed out in a pony tail. He was rather clean shaven and wore a fine looking blade at his belt. He wasn't alone either two other of his crew seemed to be escorting him.

Rikke did not yet know how things worked around the town, thus she'd nod to the cook and dash off to hide. The so called 'Protection deal' sounded a bit too close to forced tribute or extorsion. Still as Rikke remained hidden she'd look on to the pirates, thankfully they didn't seem to actively go out after the populace. Any locals girls they approached seemed to be allowed to dash off as well.

As for the red-coat, even Rikke knew this was no doubt the captain. While the barber was relatively silent when treating her, perhaps the captain really liked the sound of his own voice... giving Rikke some insight to eavesdrop on! Looking around, the rogue quickly made her own stealthy path over to the barbers and attempted to eavesdrop either from beyond a window or from a much more creative position through sneaking inside via a backdoor or open window.

Sneaking around town was fairly easy for the attractive rogue. Most of the townsfolk had went to their houses and the pirates seemed to really only focus on the food and tavern area. As she approached the barber she heard a loud grunt followed by some colorful sea curses. The usually quite barber quickly spoke up. "Hush now Red Dog I didn't raise ya from sea rat to captain to hear ya squeal like a maiden. Its only a bullet wound and its not even dangerous." There was some unintelligible grumbling that Rikke couldn't make out before a trio of voices laughed. Soon enough though things got quiet as no doubt the man was busy working on stitching the wound. Meanwhile footsteps echoed out causing Rikke to shrink back into cover again. "Shala why are you out here the captain could use your caring face." There was a moment of silence and shifting weight. "No I do not want him to see me like this. I'm a mess and it will do him no good to see me this way." There was a low sigh before Rikke heard a gentle pat. This was followed by a grey fox tail flipping out from the corner.

Who was talking? Rikke would attempt to take the briefest and most subtle peek at the source of the exchange. She was certain the voices sounded more feminine than the previous exchange, though this was likely part of the pirate crew... it was best she remained unseen. The girl hardly knew who these people were... Afterall she always heard of several types of pirates, but the usual rarely accounted more than sailing bandits.

Actually now that she thought about, Rikke did need some coin... and there was potentially a whole pirate ship, barely manned and brimming with plundered goods right here at the dock! With the town clearly supressed who'd expected a visitor? One with a peculiar set of skills to rob them blind to boot! A cheeky smile crossed Rikkes face as she'd consider the option...

Before she was a heroine, Rikke had been a sort of thief in times of need. Atleast a thief of the rich and the snobbish, the nostalgic chance to test her skills and acquire much needed to supplies quickly enticed the girl to leave her eavesdrop spot and head onwards towards the ship! Unless she overheard something of peculair interest ofcourse...

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Heading for the beach Rikke soon found the ship in question. It was small and fast in look perfect for a sea raider. However a few pirates stood watch grumbling loudly about having to wait for their shore leave. From her current position Rikke counted at lest five men. Two were on the dock while the other three seemed scattered around the ship doing various tasks. Sadly only the guards on the dock seemed stationary.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Well the girl hardly expected to just waltz onto the ship undisturbed... just how should she tackle this? She could try sneaking through the dock, though with the daylight blazing down it was unlikely she'd not be spotted. The girl looked to the few guards... she could try and play on the pirates lusty side as well, though even if she managed to get taken in by either of the current guards the price for such entry was VERY clear, as well as potentially time consuming.

Blushing lightly Rikke harumphed and looked to the sparkling water around the ship... The girls eyes widened as she'd quickly look over the ships surface, what if she swam to the other side of the ship and climbed along its hull? This would be the stealthiest way of entry! However not all ships were fit to be climbed up from the water, albiet the anchor rope would likely prove a worst-case scenario method of entry.

With this idea in mind, Rikke looked over the ships hull ornaments, windows and general surface. Could she potentially climb it?

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Eyeing the situation Rikke pondered. The water seemed clear enough with only the most minor of debris near the dock. Climbing on the ship however might be harder than she thought. It was obvious the ship was built for speed and from what she could tell the hull was as streamlined as it could be. The only really break up was the anchor rope. However another thought had occurred no doubt the pirates would take the time to resupply maybe she could sneak in the supplies, but then what if she couldn't get out in time....

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Hiding inside one of the crates? Rikke looked to what the few shiphands were loading and incidentally there appeared to be a few barrels that she could potentially hide-away inside. If the hull did indeed prove unyieldy using the barrel to get inside should work... so long as the shiphands loading wouldn't notice her putting the barrel down or climbing it.

If the routinely walking shiphands did indeed give a big enough window... Rikke would quickly sneak onto the dock and bit by bit collect what she needed a lid and a barrel, before getting in position!
