I assume you're referring to the controversy over the so-called "number of the Beast," due to the number 616 being found in an ancient manuscript of the book of Revelation, vice the traditionally accepted 666. A couple of corrections need to be made. First, the 616 or 666 argument is still ongoing (many believe the 616 to be in error). Second, the "number of the Beast" was most likely a coded reference to Emperor Nero--the Greeks and Romans assigned numerical values to letters, and Nero's name added up to 666 or 616, depending on whether you used Greek or Latin lettering. Third, the "antichrist" traditionally associated with the "Beast" was not one evil person, but simply a term for someone who teaches against Christ. Neither the "Beast" nor the "antichrist" were synonymous with Satan, the adversary.
In other words, associating either 616 or 666 with Satan is based on a faulty interpretation. *The More You Know!*
