ACT Vore Ryona [D-Gate] ミリア戦記DX / Echidna Wars DX (RJ187640)

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

I believe that is about the first few days, ie: Jan 1st~3rd being a recap of the year, rather than new content on the blog.

Where after those 3 days of "yearly review" it'll go back to the normal. Don't think it has any impact on the game's release schedule.

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

Blog said:
As far as D-Gate's New Years Holiday schedule, 12/31 and 1/4 will have lighter than normal posts, 1/1 until 1/3 will have no updates, and normal posting should return on 1/5.

Sad but true.

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

According to today's blog post, I see some message possibly about DRM protection for this game, can anyone confirm this?

That seems to be the case, but man, that's going to be a pain in the butt if it's true. I was planning on buying it, but I'd really rather not pay for something that I need an internet connection to open every time I want to play it. Really makes you wonder how many sales these anti-piracy measures lose in comparison to how many they gain.

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

I think that might be referring to the blog itself. You can't update something that hasn't been released yet, right?

That is precisely what it means.

Yes, the post says the game will be DRM protected. Apparently it will only consist of entering your DLSite username and password the first time you open the game.

In a bit more cheerful news, the post also says they have already submitted the finished game to DLSite, and are just waiting for approval now. At the very latest, it should release within the first bit of January. Given that the New Years Holiday in Japan is December 29th to January 3rd, I would expect a release personally around January 5th/6th, but that entirely depends on their workload and how much of that holiday they are actually taking at DLSite.

They are using a one-time User Authorization system. Not DLsite's other, much maligned online only "Special Viewer" system

In short you enter a code once and they don't ask you again afterwards. They don't ask you to enter the code again every time you open the game and no internet connection is required afterwards. I doubt that's of interest to most people here but if you plan on purchasing the game I suppose it's a slightly less annoying system.

That's definitely less of an annoyance, though now I'm curious as to how exactly the system works. I assume it won't be as easy for pirates to circumvent it as having someone who bought it log in and then share their game folder, but it'd still be interesting to know how the game knows you've already authenticated yourself if you launch it without internet after you've went through the initial activation.

Has this ever been bypassed before?

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

Let's just hope for the best since I'm not in any position to buy ;_;

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

DRM eh? I do hope the game does well enough to warrant updates or a sequel. Personally, I'd love for them to release purchasable updates which add new characters, enemies and levels. I'm esppecially interested in the Slimes and Jelly Fish from Mini Wars and the return of the original purple haired android girl from that game too. I'd also like to finally see that cute sword-wielding, redhead goth girl he did concept designs for a few years ago. Camel has also drawn images for an underwater level and enemies.

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

Couldn't say, but it's a registry system.
Pretty much after it 'talks' with DLSite, it saves the set up of your PC ( Mostly: OS, Size of HDD/SSD, and hardware such as CPU and GPU ) into a registry file it will then peek at on the next run. If the Registry matches up with what's going on with your PC, then it assumes all is green and plays. If it doesn't, it'll ask for you to log in again as a result. The big key here is it's dependency on hardware match up ( swapping out your GPU will make it fritz out, though expanding/changing RAM will not ), so a 'crack' for it would be a 3rd party program that makes a faux Registry using your PC information, and the game would peek at that and think it's legit.

Still, on the game itself, it's nice to see it's in the due processing stage, just a little sad they couldn't sneak it in a day or two sooner to ensure of the 31 release, unless DLSite has a 'rush' option for these things, we'll chances are see it more around the 3rd or 4th.

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

"It's submitted and due for release any day now" Yessssssss!

"With DRM" Noooooooooooo.

I was planning on throwing money at Camel anyways, but this means I need to wait longer for the ability to play it. The problem is DLsite is so weird about the Eng/Jpn release gap. I've seen simultaneous release, a one day gap, and sometimes weeks for the gap.

If only international and Jp accounts weren't completely separate, then I could just take my eng side points and buy the thing on day one. But I'll probably need to wait another week then. Here's hoping for a simultaneous release or just a one day delay.

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

I was planning on actually buying this game, but the DRM makes me reconsider.

Re: Millia/Echidna Wars DX - ミリア戦記DX

Translated from an update at D-Gate.

"The current status is "waiting for sale"
I was allowed to negotiate from time to time, but this is all DLsite's kindness of gratitude.

So I think that the war record DX will be delivered within the year, or at the latest at the beginning of January 2017 at the latest.
Please wait for a while"

Release January 1st at the latest?

Why? One thing I've noticed with pirates is that they pretend they were going to buy something and then invent some justification to pirate it, usually using DRM as the excuse.

Because DRM in general is just a pain. The only DRM I deal with is Steam, and even then I only use it when I have no other choice.

I'm not afraid to admit that I often pirate these porn games, but the quality of this game is incredibly high, IMO, and I figured I'd support it, but I don't think that's happening now.

More like, if you were gonna pirate it anyway, you don't want to let DRM be the thing that pushes you into finally buying it because then you're basically justifying the existence of DRM.

I actually DID buy his last game, which was DRM free, (and so, I have a leg to stand on with these arguments and it's not just a ' I don't want to pay for it', because I have and I will) so that fact that he's turning to DRM is a little sad.

Was Camel disappointed with the sales of Card Quest 2?

I hope that if this game does well he doesn't attribute sales to the DRM rather than just being an amazing game and he doubles down on it on future projects. Piracy aside, nobody like DRM hassles, after all.

If it were DLsite's online only viewer then I'd agree with it being a "pain".
But entering a code once is hardly an issue. You do the same shit with steam keys.

That's how I see it, basically. As I posted earlier, I was wary of this until it was pointed out to me that it's just a one-time activation. This game is right up my alley, though, so I probably would have begrudgingly bought it regardless. I'll be interested to see if the DRM affects sales to a high degree, but I think the fact that this game is higher quality than most might actually let them get away with it.
