Re: Fairy Fighting
Also about the directory stuff, it's a bit of bullshit, cause you can always manipulate the system to accept any directory you put the game in; and in this case that never was the problem and I can assure it isn't the problem now.
So did you actually TRY moving the folder around, or did you just assume that the Enterbrain programmers would be prepared for all of the crap you can possibly put into a path name? Because I DID have that problem, back in the day, and THAT is how I fixed it.
I'll assume that you do have administrator rights (you shouldn't need them, but who knows?). This program does not need Japanese non-Unicode settings, so you won't need that or AppLocale. This program also does not use Adobe Flash Player in any way, so whatever problems you're having with that are not causing the problem with Fairy Fighting.
Files missing from the program directory will cause it to crash at various points. Counting the EXE and the configuration file "game.ini", you should have twenty-seven different files in your program directory.

And just to be sure, I decided I'd force a crash. If your path name has a period in it, it'll crash
:
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\Matt\Desktop\This.crashes.it\FairyFighting
Then it'll crash. Just as you described.
WINDOWS doesn't mind it. I can go in and dork around with the files all I want, fiddle with 'em in Notepad, copy, rename, delete, whatever. But the GAME does.
And guess what? The path name for the desktop on a WinXP Gateway looks like this:
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\OwnerName.ComputerName\Desktop
So go and double-check that.
