Re: Facility, Codename: Last Resort
Maintenance Area
The squad that Ava attacked, was quickly decimated. However, the Unit would soon find herself forced back into cover by a rain of gunfire, far faster than any assault rifle could produce - and more sustained. A quick peek reveals a hulking shadow, easily eight feet tall, lit by the backflash of the minigun it holds.
The Behemoths. The Fallen's heavy infantry. Skin tougher than rock.. full-body suits of armour, they looked almost like grotesquely imagined knights of shining lore. Except these creatures carried grenade launchers, machine guns, or simply axes, as tall as a man. Two more lumber from the darkness to join their compatriot - and the first grenade smashes into an ammo case, knocking it towards Ava's position..
The final Behemoth roars out loud,a sound that echoes in the guts, and stomps its way forward with surprising speed, axe swinging.
Narrowly avoiding the chained explosion caused by the grenade and the ammo crate, Ava quickly found cover... until the third Behemoth charged toward her, axe swinging. With no time to properly assess the situation, the Unit did the only thing she could do. Dodge.
Rolling out of the way, she watched as the Behemoth's axe tore a hole in the ship's sturdy walls, before turning on her again. It was obvious that should she be hit by that, she would be destroyed instantaneously. Narrowly avoiding another massive swing from the axe (while barely blocking machine gun fire with the use of her "field"), she swung her makeshift blade around... to have it glance off uselessly and have it knocked into some corner of the ship. It was apparent that any physical weaponry was useless against the heavily armored monstrosities. However that realization came far too late as the axe-wielding behemoth grabbed hold of her easily and smashed her into the ship wall, threatening to crush her with it's enormous amont of strength. It would seem that this would be the end for Ava, who remained as expressionless as she approached her death.

The broadcast across the channels was barely legible, most likely as a result of the transmitter having been damaged from the impact against the wall. With doom apparently imminent, the Unit began automatically backing up field data from the combat testing that she had been dispatched for, to be retrieved at a later date by the scientists who had modified her. However, it was at this time that she stumbled upon a few "memories". Memories from before her "conditioning" that should have been erased, but were not. Upon viewing these "lost" memories, tears of blood began to flow from her otherwise emotionless eyes, tears filled with sorrow and regret, tears filled with hatred... She knew not the reason for the tears, however for the first time, she desired to live.
"I...can not...die...not until..."
In a last ditch desperate attempt to save her life, she focused the energy field she projected into extending her katana as far as it could go. piercing the armor of the behemoth as it melted through the armor and ran through its flesh. With the remaining strength she had, she brought the blade up, melding flesh, metal, everything into one as she rended the Behemoth into two...
Freed from the crushing grasp, she managed to land back onto her feet, her left arm hanging uselessly at her side, her right arm barely usable. Retreat would be impossible, and she desired to live. That left her only one choice. To somehow slay the remaining Behemoths that honed upon her after having taken severe damage...
