In today's news...

Re: In today's news...

Hmm, interesting how BLM seems to be willing to hold their closest allies ability to voice themselves hostage in exchange for met demands. That's usually something you do to people who are bad; I wonder, if they're willing to do that to their closest allies, if they're willing to just do it to anybody who might have something they want.Take note, of the lack of a question mark. That is intentional.

Crazy shit has been going down in association with Pokemon Go which was released a few days ago

Teenage girl playing Pokemon Go discovered a dead body in the river

Armed robbers using Pokemon Go to lure victims

And of course, there's been a lot of injury reports surrounding the game too.

Yeah they are pretty much using it to help with crimes, so you're helping them snitch. I caught a evee.

Re: In today's news...

Filthyfrank, though not a source of particularly high-brow or informative entertainment, brought forth a surprisingly cogent point about GO's potential to aid sexual predators of certain nature in particular. I mean, it is marketed primarily towards kids after all, even with a large adult following.

Re: In today's news...

Yeah, I don't think they really thought out the idea of being able to make your own hotspot that much

Re: In today's news...

Boko Haram, made infamous in the West for their abduction of a large number of young girls, and later their affiliation with IS, is being fought back, and recently 5000 civilians were evacuated from Boko Haram occupation.

Re: In today's news...

That post would work just as well in the giddy thread, great news.

Re: In today's news...

thank-you-jesus-atheist-meme.jpg

When it rains the water falls on everyone. Both good and evil. Not just the rich or just the poor, but both. If God were to hold the umbrella for you (Or Jesus, like your meme says), then he would also have to hold it for the murderers, the rapists, and the child molester. "Hey God. Why do you hold the umbrella for the child molester? I can not believe in a god who would do that!"

Some people say that anyway, that God holds the umbrella for bad people. Maybe it's Lucifer holding the umbrella...

It's not a ploy for them to take your money.
Religion is like science, power, and many other things. "Science is not good or bad... But it can be used both ways."

Yes. I totally quoted Frankenweenie.

Don't get me wrong there could be something out there that can't be explained, but the talking snakes, 2 people repopulating the earth
Back then they had talking snakes. Today we have talking furbies. Which is more believable? :p

As for 2 people repopulating the earth: Moses was only concerned with writing about his own lineage and what he knew from before his time was all handed down by storytellers.
Furthermore, Cain, Seth, and the other siblings had to marry someone. I highly doubt that they married their own siblings. Especially Cain since he was an outcast.

and the fact the everything you do is a sin including watching h stuff.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I don't recall ever seeing any commandments like these:
"Thou shalt not draw naked people!"
"Thou especially shall not draw naked people having sex!"
"Thou shalt not lust for fictional characters!"

Really the only thing we have to go by is David and Bathsheba, and it was pretty obvious that he was wrong to lust after someone's wife (not to mention that he got her husband killed by sending him to the frontlines). Things might not have went so badly for him later on in life if he just drew a naked picture of her and kept it in his pocket.

We do have commandments about how we shouldn't make graven images or worship them, but the Catholic Church seems to be all over that. How many times have you seen someone praying to an image of Jesus? To a cross? To an image of Mary? What about all their statues of saints?

I tend to see Atheism whipped out and waved around on a regular basis like it's some sort of giant magic dong. Two words for that. Double standards.

I don't normally like to share my beliefs. I felt like I should make an exception this time though. It really bothers me when all Christians are lumped in with the Catholic Church. That's actually why a lot of pilgrims came to the US, for religious freedom.

Someone on Youtube was talking about that Ap. I immediately thought, "Well, there's going to be people playing Pokemon Go while they drive.."

So I guess there will be new slogans, "Don't Pokemon Go and Drive."
I would say there might be new laws for that, but isn't there already a law about not using a phone while you drive?

Re: In today's news...

There are passages that could be interpreted as "Thinking it is as bad as doing it." Which makes watching those rape hentais much more awkward if you're a devout catholic or something. But we probably shouldn't divulge too much into religion, people's interpretations and take-aways from religion is different, there is good and bad to religion and it can be a great self-help tool in the correct circumstances, talking about it however will just make people who are naive about how good it is or naive about how bad it is butthurt and inflammatory, so we should probably just drop the subject.

Re: In today's news...

Righto, British news time;

The Conservative Party has rapidly scooted through their ballots, a new Prime Minister has been chosen; Theresa May. Second female PM Britain has had, and both Tory, so next time Labour accuses them of not being equal opportunities...

...Speaking of which, Jeremy Corbyn has lost the vote of no confidence by his own party massively, but his name is still on the ballot paper, as two MP's from his party, Angela Eagle and Owen Smith, have launched their leadership bids.

Eh, one or two spots at the top might look like a lot, but I'd be more interested in total ratio of MPs or looking at actual policies.

Doesn't surprise me, seems to me that the labour bigwigs never liked Corbyn due to him actually being a bona fide socialdemocrat that rose up due to grassroot voting.

I don't quite understand it myself, what's the strategic relevance of France, why are supposed IS forces targeting there of all places? I mean, it hardly fits the narrative of an interfering malign western force of imperialism, which is how they appear to justify attacks on America, why France?

It's a big NATO country with a significant Muslim minority. And then there's the strong enforcement of secularity, like ban on wearing hijabs in schools. Why would they NOT attack France?

Re: In today's news...

I wasn't aware France had a particularly large Muslim pop, but I guess a lot of european countries are sweeping in multiculturalism both independantly and at the behest of the EU.

Re: In today's news...

I don't know how much it has to do with (modern)multiculturalism or EU refugee policy. Remember that France, like Britain, was a significant colonial power. And of course, Spain used to be overrun by moors before it was taken back by Crusaders. So there are lots of historical reasons for the muslim population.
