Lady Kathren sipped her tea a moment before setting the cup down. "If I may matriarch, what do you wish of me?" It had no doubt been a question on her mind for some time. After all it was Sera who payed her a visit. It must have seemed that Sera wanted more than just information. Sera could sense that Lady Kathren was still in doubt of her intent, but she didn't feel any hostile intent from her. It was clear that Sera had yet to win this noble over to her way of thinking just yet.

"Well...I'm not entirely sure if there's anything specific I'd want to ask of you really, aside from just try and support matriarch Jolynn to try and maintain peace in this lovely place. I would like to help everyone if I can. It's part of my nature as an angel, to help all of those in need. I won't try and force you to help though. Because doing that would just be wrong, and I agree with you and any of the other nobles that say it, that when Jolynn forces any of you to... pay tribute and whatnot, that it's wrong, even if it's tradition to maintain power. But that doesn't mean a rebellion is needed. I can convince her to listen, if the nobles are willing to sit down and talk. But she is carrying my children too after all, so I'd hope that none of you would try and be hostile towards her, else I would have to defend her. If enough of you have the fortitude to stick to those convictions, then words can suffice I think to bring forth a new era of peace and understanding between the matriarch and the nobility," Sera replied softly before sipping some more of her tea and sighing. "I've been outside further afield than anyone from here, and I can guarantee you that there are great dangers out there, that a divided nobility of this city, would not be able to face if forced to, no matter how strong you all are. My lover June? She came from a town that's actually not too very far from here. And there was a mage in her town that was trying to corrupt them into basically worshiping him. And had he found this place here, I assure you that he would have attempted some upheaval, whether it was desired or not. Then there's the orcs to the far north that would enslave everyone here, men and women both, and the matriarch... she'd be put through even worse enslavement for being both royalty, and a matriarch. And the noble women, the orcs would fight over who got who for breeding purposes, and that's it pretty much. The aliens would just corrupt the people here until they forgot anything but sex, or died from being drained of their energies. And the list of dangers goes on. Together, this city can stand strong. Divided though... I don't think it could withstand any invasion of any kind. And while I may be powerful, and an angel, I can't always stay here really, plus I have my own quest of sorts to figure out," she went on to say, trying to convince lady Kathren, but it was clear that she didn't intend to try and force her way of thinking on the woman, nor did she intend to attempt any subversive magics, or anything of the sort,

Lady Kathren was silent a moment, taking in what she had said. After a moment she stood and moved to a window. "Matriarch I love my city and its customs. And when all is said and done I have no issue with how the Matriarch runs our city. I believe in a firm hand to guide those to weak or foolish to lead on their own. I appreciate what you are trying to do. I however do not think the others will be so.. honest with you. I do not doubt what you say about the outsiders so I will support your goals in this. If you think it will save our city and tribe.

"It's understandable that some, or even many would distrust me, for whatever reason or another. But I thank you for appreciating what I am trying to do. You see Lady Kathren... we angels, even at the cost of our own lives, our mission... our purpose, is to protect those that can't protect themselves from evil. Even at the cost of our own lives, our nature is to protect. No one angel is the same in any aspect other than that though. We all have an inherent desire to protect the innocent. If it safeguarded this city, Lady Kathren... and there was no other way for me to do so, I am not only expected, but obligated to sacrifice myself, for the greater good in protecting it. I certainly hope it would never come to that obviously, but... you get the idea I think," Sera replied softly, standing as well and stepping up next to the older woman. "I truly do wish to help, if I can. But I also know that gaining your trust, and your help, will likely come with a price. As it will likely come with a price for all of the other nobles of the city. If there's any pointers you could give me though for the other more... prominent nobles, I'm all ears," she went on to say.

The older woman looked up at Sera and paused, likely sorting her thoughts. The others respect power. You will need to show them the steel in your resolve. Some will accept quickly. Do not trust them. They will want to use your efforts to further their own power. They have been more isolated than myself. They will not comprehend their naivety to the dangers outside the valley. She paused once more. There are a few more houses that may be genuine in their desire to hep the city and our people. House Gerth and Malais. House Gerth tends to most of the farming around the city and in the valley. While house Malais leads most of the outside raids. They would know of the dangers you speak of.

"I see. Thank you lady Kathren, for listening to me and hearing me out with my concerns I've brought to your attention. I can ask of no more I don't think, other than to at least consider all that I've said so far. If there is anything I could do perhaps to convince both yourself, and the other nobles of my sincerity, please name it, and I'll see what I can do to help. Within reason of course, though... I'll go ahead and say, I'd consider some things to be more within reason than perhaps Jolynn would," Sera said gently to the older lady as she bowed deeply. "And thank you for the tea, it was delicious," Sera added with a smile before she prepared to leave, waiting long enough for lady Kathren to respond to the last bit she'd said before heading out to see to house Gerth and then Malais.

Lady Kathren seemed to ponder this a moment before shaking her head. "Alas matriarch nothing come to mind as of yet. I may call on your aid another time if you will allow it." Bowing Lady Kathein would escort Sera from her home. One of her guards gave Sera the directions to house Geth which proved a bit of a longer trek than she had anticipated. Slowly and surly the house dwindled till she came across rice fields and orchards everywhere. Men of all shapes sizes and races filled the area working as armed female overseers kept an eye on them. For the most part they seemed in good condition if a bit tired. In the distance a lovely manor house started coming into view. From outward appearance it seemed similar to Sera's own but as she drew closer it dwarfed her own.

"Very well then lady Kathren. I shall take my leave now. Please... don't be a stranger. I found this talk enjoyable. Prior to leaving my angelic sanctuary, I never had a whole lot of interaction with non fey and angels," Sera told Kathren with a little bow of her own before she retreated and headed out towards house Gerth.

Once there, Sera was a bit taken aback at the sight of quite a few men tending to the fields and orchards and whatnot, but she didn't let it show openly and continued on to the gates where she saw the manor that dwarfed her own considerably it seemed. "Hello, I am matriarch Sera. I wish to see lady Gerth if she is available," Sera would tell the gate guards, bowing politely when she approached.

The female guard seemed to hesitate a moment before bowing quickly and heading for the door. These seemed to cause Grace stare at the retreating woman incredulously. "D-did she just leave her post." Feris looked about however. "Well techincally we are surrounded by overseers... very well armed overseers. Though given how many men they keep her I'm surprised they don't have more guards." The two guards didn't get a chance to speak further until she returned... her face flush as she stammered out. "I-Im s-s-sorry but her L-ladyship is not.... not having visitors a-at this time." The guard woman shook in absolute terror. This seemed to cause Feris and Grace's mood to darken considerably. Sera was just about to speak when a regal woman quickly rushed out of the house. "My Lady! My Lady! please Matriarch forgive us." The woman about Sera's apparent age came to a stop. She wore a very fine blue silken top and dress and had black hair. Her hazel eyes took in the scene with a calm shift between those present. "Please Matriarch do not take offense. I fear my Lady has much to learn. Please follow me." If Sera relented she would be lead into the massive manor. All around them servants wore overly frilly maid uniforms. Even the guards in the house shifted uncomfortably as they passed their maid uniforms clearly not very practical for their jobs.

Finally after a walk Sera was lead to a brightly painted room full of stuffed animals, both mythical and real. In the center of the room sat a small child maybe eight years of age currently having .. fake tea with her two body guards in overly frilly maid uniforms. "May I present Lady Gerth" The young woman looked up and frowned. "Anna.... no disruptions during tea time!" Anna cleared her throat. Lady Gerth this is Matriarch Sera our soon to be queen. Do not insult her." Lady Gerths hand stumbled a little as she paled a bit. "Everyone out! Except you of course Matriarch and your guards if you so choose. Once her own people had left she quickly bowed. "Please forgive me Matraich ... I just really enjoy my... free time. Ever since I've had to take over for my mother I get very little of it and I guard it jealously. I know its not an excuse but please forgive me.

"Huh... odd... I wonder what's happened exactly," Sera muttered to Grace and Feris as the guard woman she's spoke to looked absolutely terrified when she returned.

Just as Sera was about to say something when the guard girl was saying that lady Gerth wasn't having visitors at that time, another woman came out and Sera stopped short and listened. "Very well, lead on my dear. I'm not upset, just a bit disappointed in the response. And... oh my, I wasn't expecting this to be honest," Sera began saying as she followed the house steward she believe up to lady Gerth's chambers and found she was but a child, and not a full grown woman.

Sera smiled gently and walked over to the young lady and knelt down. "I should be the one asking forgiveness in this case I feel. I wasn't expecting you to be so young. It would be Very unfair of me to expect so much of you on short notice. So how about this, I'll forgive you, if you'll forgive me. Deal?" Sera said softly to the young girl as she held reached out with both hands to hug the young girl, feeling the sudden urge to hug young lady Gerth if the girl didn't pull away, with Sera wrapping her wings around her as she did. "Now, if you don't mind answering this. Do you handle your house's affairs in terms of business and whatnot? Or do you leave that to your steward?" Sera asked the young lady with a smile, figuring gentle was the best approach with her.

The young Lady Gerth seemed surprised at the sudden hug but didn't pull away and as Sera's wings closed about her she even hugged Sera back allowing her a moment of weakness she would seldom get otherwise.

Once the hug ended the Lady seemed to adopt a more professional stance. "Of course Matriarch." She bowed deeply As for matters of the house I make the final decisions while my steward usually meets with other members of the nobility. They tend not to respect my age.

"Good girl. And you're doing a fine job I'm sure," Sera said gently before leaning in closer. "They probably won't respect your age until you show them that you're a girl that's willing to shoulder the responsibility of womanhood that comes with being an adult, as well as a leader of your house. Besides, I've found that the best way to learn, is to sit in on those kinds of things and watch and listen to what goes on during meeting and the like. Show them that not only are you willing to, but that you actively Want to learn, and they will start respecting you. Prove to them that their words not only can't harm you, but that if they fling insults at you, or make fun of you for being much younger, that it only shows how childish they themselves are. I'm confident that you could manage to put even the eldest of the nobles in their place if you truly tried hard enough," Sera whispered gently to lady Gerth as she pat her head like a big sister might.

"Well, lady Gerth. I shall take my leave now and let you continue with your tea party. Unless... you'd like me to stay and join for a little while that is. I do have some more stops to make after I leave though, so I don't mind either way," Sera said aloud as she pulled back and stood up, waiting for lady Gerth's answer before either taking a seat and joining her for tea, or bowing humbly to the young lady and taking her leave.
