Bought. I don't like platformers but I wanted to support the developer for his hard work.

Thank you, Mr. developer.

I do love platformers and I do want to support the developper, so bought too! Review incomming as soon as I finish the game :)

Although... 14.20$ ? I thought that DLSite was taking 5$ from the sale on your 5$ game. Does this mean that they actually get 9.20$ off the game and you only get 5$? That's... starting to be a bit much. Anyway, enough complaining, time to play!

Re: Kurovadis (OUT NOW! BUY IT)

Holy hell, $14? I'm going to email them, that's way too high. I would get 55-60% of that, but I don't want it to be so expensive.

If anybody was planning on buying it through DLsite, hold off for a bit.

They raise the price on their own?
That's kinda scary.

Re: Kurovadis (OUT NOW! BUY IT)

you have my $5 as well, what with this and kickstarter, I'm backing a few indie projects lately :)

That said I'm a little stuck, I figured out how to get the double jump after using my brain and creating the stepping stone, but I don't know where to go next, I found the aria with the electric and the hydraulic pistons that push you up but I can't seem to gain enough momentum to real either side just enough to reach the top, then the electricity usually breaks any momentum I was trying to build anyway. I believe I need to go here as I can't find anyplace else to go as of yet (can#'t break the white boxes, can't bypass the green vine barrier things)

Okay, so assuming I'm right about where your at...that's the wrong place.

After getting the wall jump you should be able to reach the first boss.

Attached a picture to get you started, hope I'm not being confusing...

That is 12 cents cheaper than what it is on the Japanese site; 1 yen = .0124 american dollars now. Some of your new Japanese customers might revolt if they find out they could have gotten it for 350 less yen if they only waited a few days, so take that into consideration. Maybe keep Kudovadis dlsite price as it is, but offer the next game on dlsite at a slightly lower price than you originally planned, and at the same time rerelease Kudovadis at the 800 yen price range.

Agh..

As nonamesleft mentioned, it would be a bit of a dick move to lower the price at this point after so many people bought the japanese version recently (and even worse to have the english version cheaper). So it doesn't look like changing the price would be a smart move atm.

Out of curiosity, what reasons to some of you have for wanting to use DLsite rather than the blog?

Re: Kurovadis (OUT NOW! BUY IT)

Welcome to the life of being a game developer. If you can survive this next game without having a complete breakdown then you should do good.

Re: Kurovadis (OUT NOW! BUY IT)

I can't speak for people who want to use dlsite, but the words "Fuck Paypal" come to mind.

Anyway, people are buying it at the current dlsite price because it's worth it to them. Anyone who doesn't want to pay that much can just get it from your blog.
I'd just wait a couple months or until the sales die down and announce a price drop alongside some sort of preview of the next game to get maximum attention.

making a game is hard, dunno how he did it in 4 months

Re: Kurovadis (OUT NOW! BUY IT)

I got it on DLSite for two reasons:

1) I wanted some redownload security. If my hard-drive blows up or whatever, I can just download it again from there. I trust that DLSite won't be going down anytime soon (It's a legal distributor and seems to be pulling in a lot of money), but I don't hold the same hope for longevity for other download service like mediafire or other similar sites which I assume you used based on some comments where people had download problems.

2) To give you more visibility and hopefully help boolster sales. I enjoyed the heck out of the demo: it was an amazing gameplay experience and it's exactly the type of game I'm looking for when I visit these sites. Games like these are extremely rare and I'm hoping to see more in the future.

On DLSite, you sometime have pretty decent titles that "slip through the cracks" and get less than 10 sales on the english site (like Lilipalace for example). If you manage to somehow hit the top 10, odds are that you'll get a bunch more sales... If you don't, you'll usually end up with less than 10 sales no matter how good your game is.

An early review can be a boon to reach that top 10, so I wanted to write one for your game (plus add to your download count by 1: Every bit helps). It's my way of making a donation in a different way... I'm not sure it will work, but I wanted to at least try!

For the price... As mentionned, it would probably be insulting to everyone who bought the game already. Beside, if that many people on the Japanese site bought it and rated it that high, I'd say they aren't unhappy with the price. Enjoy your bonus money: It's well deserved!

And back to the game... Been playing for a somes hours and I'm not done yet due to the enormous amount of deaths I had so far but I think I'm pretty close to the end... I'll write the review as soon as I'm done. I'm extremely happy with my purchase so far, and even though I died so often, I'm still not close to be frustrated enough to resort to level grinding or restarting on an easier difficulty setting... That's the mark of a great game in my opinion! :)

Re: Kurovadis (OUT NOW! BUY IT)

I spammed points into defense, and then I was unstoppable!

TURTLE STRATEGY CANNOT BE DEFEATED!!! Bosses were doing 1 damage to me. >=D

I liked this game. It respects the turtle strategy. I'll probably buy the next one, as well.

P.S - I just wanted to say: The music is truly fantastic! :)

I suck at the wall bouncing crap, i cant get up the 2 walls right after the first boss. love the game so far, but HATE those 3 lazers. i've spent the last 2 hours trying to get past those, but i cant time the jumps right. any advice. and to the sarcastic responses or the "Your just a noob" here is my retort - Piss off.

Well, that just leads to a powerup, you don't actually have to go that way.

Re: Kurovadis (OUT NOW! BUY IT)

I heard this game absolutely exploded over on DLsite.

Sex certainly sells. In japan, anyways.

Everyone else just pirates the hell out of it.

Re: Kurovadis (OUT NOW! BUY IT)

After reading the whole 15 pages or so, i decide to support the developer by buying the game.... open the dlsite and find it to be 14$!!! >.< I thought it was 5-8$ when the developer open price is 5$.

I think i'm gonna try the demo first then >.<

You could just buy it on the developer's blog for 5 bucks. It's a pretty solid deal, but definitely try the demo first. I tried the demo, loved it, and then bought it.

And honestly, it's basically the same price as a pint at the bar. So the question I asked myself was, "Is this game worth 1 pint?" And, the answer is: absolutely, yes.

Reasons to get it from his site rather than DLSite:

1. It's $5 to his pocket either way, but DLSite cost more.
2. DLSite require censoring CG, the version from his site doesn't.

Re: Kurovadis (OUT NOW! BUY IT)

Review on DLSite is up (although you need to click the review icon at the top since it doesn't show at the bottom for some reason), and completed the game!

Random stats: It took me around 4 hours, and I estimate roughly 75 deaths or so. I played on Normal, and while I never did any direct level grinding, I estimate that I gained roughly 3 levels total by going back to the save point when I was doing poorly enough and knew I had no ways to make it to the next save point with my current HP. I finished at level 15, and my stats were spread evenly between Attack and Defense, with around 8 points in Charge and no points in Con except for the bonus pickups. The highest amount of deaths definitively came from the Succubus boss, with the area near the end on the way to the laser with the two spinning wheels, the two fire wheels, the tentacle pits and the lightning in the middle getting second place.

I absolutely adored my playthrough of the game, well worth buying. The only time I got a bit frustrated is at the area I mentionned earlier: Beside that, every other spot I was just "Oh well, got to try again"!

There's some enemy types I didn't lose to (go me!) so I can't say how bad it goes, but I did lose to the demon guys once... All I can say from that CG is "Holy ****, that must hurt"!

Except for the starting area, the music is absolutely wonderful. I have to say that the music before the first boss is still my favorite (It's on my top 10 songs ever), but all the rest were pretty darn good too.

In the weapon selection screen, you can actually select a 5th slot under the 4 weapons. I kept expecting an hidden weapon or something, but I haven't found anything unfortunately. I did like the fact that there was an happy ending though!

I have two things that did disapoint me a bit:

1) It felt a bit cheap that the last boss was in an "increased gravity area" that we have just seen. During the game, you polish your skills and learn how to deal with harder and harder challenge, but the last boss has different physics mechanism from the rest of the game.

2) We never get to see a CG of the heroine in her clothes. I hoped to see a CG of her in her battle outfit, either in a regular pose or in her natural state: Kicking ass. Nothing major of course, just was curious of how the heroine looked generally :)
