Re: Life on the Ranch (SirOni)
"Well, if you don't want to then that's fine with me," Eleanor answered Daneira's smile with her own, before the two of them set out across the grounds. "The tour is going to cover the house as well, so I dare say we'll be making a stop at my bedroom towards the end. Though your plans will have to wait until the evening most likely, I'm afraid." Eleanor added at the end, poking her tongue out at the alraune. The rancher batted at the tendrils as they played with and teased her ass, but otherwise made no move to stop Daneira from having her fun.
"Anyway, this is the place at the moment," With her free hand Eleanor gestured towards the lands that she owned; her home, the barn behind her, the stables, the pens for the cows and chickens, and the actual farmland where her crops were currently growing. And of course the unworked land. "It's not exactly much to look at for now, we've only got about five squared acres of land give or take. The house itself took about five months to complete fully, so we've only really been working here for just over a year and a half." Eleanor explained as she led Daneira from the barn and around the land.
"There's mostly only the essentials here for now, the crop fields for example only really produce enough food for us to live on, and the stuff we don't produce ourselves we buy from the merchants and traders that come along here. Though we do produce enough milk and eggs to make a small profit from. It's not much, but every bit helps." From the barn Eleanor had guided Daneira left, towards the entrance of her land, where a stable and a length of fenced off land was situated. As the two women neared the wood and stone building the sound of whinnying carried through the air.
"To start, here we have the girls." Eleanor released Daneira's arm from her own and leant against the door that lead into the stable proper. Inside was three horses; a lean-bodied sand-coloured horse with smaller splotches of white, smaller than the other two, a hazel-coloured horse with a white belly, its body well toned and the largest of the three, and a white horse with the odd black smear here and there along its body. The smaller horse was currently lying in a pile of hay, nibbling idly at its bedding whilst the other two lingered near their watering hole. "The two bigger ones are Colt's and Priscilla's, the smaller one is my daughter's, Lani's, horse." At the sound of Eleanor's voice a horse outside of the stable neighed loudly before making its way in. The beast, which was larger than the largest of the three horses that had been in the stable beforehand trotted straight up to Eleanor and nuzzled against the woman's face. "And this horse is mine. She goes by Black Wind." Eleanor placed her hands on the side of Black Wind's face and rubbed her own against the beasts, kissing it's nose before parting from her and ruffling the horse's unkempt mane. "Kara's horse is probably relaxing out in their pen, so you'll get to see her eventually. Though I'll need to remember that I'll have to get one for you as well, though for the time being you can borrow Lani's."
With the stables done with for now Eleanor bid goodbye to the horses before linking her arm with Daneira's once more and setting back up the beaten path, passing the cows, which were currently lazing around, some of them relaxing on the ground whilst others stood and watched the two women, one mooing at them as they walked on by. They walked a little more before the two of them came to another stop, this time near a much larger fenced off area a little ways past the farmhouse and barn. "And this is obviously where our crops are growing. It might not look like much now, but wait until they're all ready to be harvested, it's quite the sight." Again, Eleanor unhooked her arm from Daneira's and leant against the wooden fence. As she gazed over the field a soft smile appeared across the woman's face. "Right now we're growing potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions, turnips, broccoli, and cauliflower, though the crops we grow changes pretty much every cycle, to make sure the soil stays rich in nutrients. Though it's probably going to be a little while before we can harvest these, so we've got a bit of time left before the real work starts." Once more Eleanor locked her arm around Daneira's, this time heading to the farmhouse.
From the outside it was clear that the farmhouse was a two floor building with an attic, the windows coming out from the roof suggesting it held at least one bedroom. At the rear of the house extended a single floor room, it's slate roof sloping at a more gentle angle than that of the main portion of the house. Stepping through the front door the two women were greeted by a blast of warm air, a pleasant welcome from the chill autumn air of outside. The source of the heat became apparent as they stepped through the door and into the living quarters of the house, a fire was currently crackling away in the fireplace, the smell of burnt wood mingling with the sweet fragrant scent of flowers. The living quarters itself was open, that is the floor above was more of a balcony overlooking the living quarters leading off to rooms. However, the attic floor was sectioned off, beams covering the bottom with support struts coming down, the only way up being a set of stairs from the first floor. The floor, and much of the furnishings of the living quarters was made of wood, with the odd thin rug here and there covering the floor, and a thicker, fur rug in front of the fireplace where one of the hellhounds was currently resting. As well as the rug a set of seats was set up in front of the fire, and several bookshelves full of books was off to one side. Paned windows dotted along all the walls, casting natural light into the room, though once day became night the gas lamps as well as the chandelier would light the living quarters up when the fire on its own wouldn't suffice.
As well as the smell of fire and flowers, the scent of food emanated from the kitchen, no doubt today's dinner that Kara had begun to make. There was also the subtle smell of blood mingled in with the other scents, a smell common to the household thanks to the animals Eleanor and the girls hunt and bring back for their meals. No doubt Daneira would soon become as accustomed to it as the rest of the girls.
"Well, this is the house," Eleanor said once the two of them had entered. Walking over to the nearest table Eleanor unbuckled her corset and placed it on top before stretching out her back. "Aahhhhh, that feels better~ Anyway, as you can see this is the living room, it's pretty much where we all hang out when all the work has been finished and we're not off elsehwere doing stuff, and there's nearly always a fire burning so you don't have to worry about being cold. It's not as warm in the bedrooms as it is down here, but with all the plumbing in the place it's still better than being outside. And of course I'm sure there'll be someone that won't mind spending time helping to keep you warm." Eleanor flashed Daneira another playful smile. "The kitchen's just in there," Eleanor gestured towards the arched entrance at the end of the room, and from what could be seen from where the two women stood the majority of the kitchen was made from stone, the better to clean blood and entrails from. Taking Daneira by the hand Eleanor then led the alraune upstairs. "Up here's the first floor, which houses Kara's, Colt's and Priscilla's bedrooms, as well as two guest rooms for when we have women come down to help breed our hellhounds. There's also a bathroom, which has both a bath and a shower, though they're built in together, as well as warm water. Though you'll have to let us know when you use the hot water as once it's run out we'll need to add more water to the hot water tank. And up here," Eleanor led Daneira up a second flight of stairs. "Is mine and Lani's room. This one's Lani's," She gestured towards the one nearest to the stairs and looked out to the back of the house. "And this one's mine."
Opening the door, Eleanor lead the alraune into her bedroom, which turned out to be quite a large room, almost half the size of the living room and looked out to the front of the house, which gave her a view of the forest that stretched out from just past the borders of her land, and when it came gave the rancher a perfect view of the sunrise. For the size of the room Eleanor's bedroom was quite bare. It housed just one wardrobe and one chest of drawers, though it had an ornate mirror to accompany it, and an end table either side of her bed, upon which sat a gas lamp. However, the bed was the focal point of the room, a four post king-sized bed, with sheer curtains hanging from its posts. The quilt and pillows were both stuffed with goose feather, and atop the quilt was a thick fur blanket. Eight pillows in total lay at the head of the bed. And true to her word the room had a warmth to it thanks to the warm water running through the piping in the walls. "So, what do you think? All the rooms are pretty much the same as this, as far as decoration goes anyway. There's not enough room in the other rooms for a bed quite a fancy as this, but after what I've been through these past few years I thought I deserved a bit of luxury. Besides, it's what I got used to. You can either take one of the guest rooms or have Lani's whilst she's away, though she'll need it back once she comes back home from whatever adventures she's had. Oh yeah, there's also the basement, but that's not all that important to show you around, it acts as our pantry mostly. So, what do you think?"
