I do. I don't understand their appeal, but I love them. Maybe because it makes you exercise your brain and use logic to get in the girls pants, giving a sometimes necessary break into reality to make up for the obviously impossible porn that usually makes up my library.
Sometimes, you gotta think how to talk the girl into letting you screw her, rather than just say "FUCK IT, SEND IN THE TENTACLES!" (although sending in the tentacles is fun)

Nnnnnnnno. 50% dating sims are stupidly obvious with their conversation choices, and 50% are stupidly hard. I hardly think that you're exercising your brain when you're choosing between "Hello m'lady, how are you?" and "LET'S FUCK."

Dating Sims- Not to be confused with Meet&Fuck
Most Japanese Dating Sims are actually not difficult, since there's no "Oh, you screwed up, back to beginning of conversation", it just changes the ending and options later on. And they are never as blatant as that... At worst, it would be:
"So, what should we do now?"
A) "Let's see if there's a movie on..."
B) "Let's go out to eat..."
C) "Let's go fornicate"
Remember... The Japanese, for all their porn, are polite.

Sorry, let me rephrase. The Japanese are a bit more... "sophisticated"... when it comes to flirting. The American version of the example I gave before would be:
"So, what should we do now?"
A) "How about a movie?"

Dating sims aren't just about trial and error, if thats the way you play one then you shouldn't play at all, the point of the game is to be smart and analyze the targets personality(most likely stereotypes easily recognisable), and make the right choices on the first try, dating sims don't put your eye-hand coordination to test, they are puzzles meant to challenge your analytic skill and inter-personal relationships knowledge.
That being said i don't like dating sims, perasonally i'd rater go hit on a real girl, but they can be entertaining if mixed with other genres, something like the Sakura taisen games.

Hoooly crap. Are you guys really sticking with the "It challenges the mind" argument? It DOESN'T challenge the mind. It's either obvious from the get-go or it's a matter of guessing. If you really need to use your analytical skills to pick the right choices, I don't think YOU should be playing dating sims.
Besides, trial and error gets you all the CGs.

no offense meant, to each his own, i mean im not the person to dictate which porn is good and which isn't, but if you are using a dating sim to practice for real life, and this is normal for other people as well, then there is something important im missing.

It can sometimes be good practice. For, like, people who are absolute assholes to girls? That way they can think, "wait. When I told Natsumi in my game she had a fine ass, she ran away... Maybe I shouldn't tell Susan that..."
Oh, and it challenges the mind usually just because you're trying to pick the right option so you can get the good CGs quickly. No one likes 20+ playthroughs just to get the good stuff. (by that token, it could help with memory?)
