I mean, not having her there at all is better than shoehorning her in just because, but could they really not think of a way to put her in? I mean, seriously, COSTUMES. DRESSING UP. Kinda her thing.

Though it would appear as though she got a hell of a lot more proper since we last saw her. I don't remember her speaking like that AT ALL the first time. Oh, sure, the volume was there, but the way she says things...
Unless they were trying to give people something for a Ducreux meme. They do seem to be on a role with incorporating memes into their shows this season o_O

Wasn't the first time right after she got turned normal after being Nightmare Moon? I imagine she had a pretty good reason not to act like she did this time...

And I'm guessing they're really going for the brony fans this season. As for Rarity, doesn't she share her voice actor with Luna? I assume they didn't put her in to avoid stressing the poor woman... And having a ham-to-ham combat between those two. Maybe she was too busy making costumes?

Lauren said that Rarity was actually in the script, but she must have been cut.

Also, my allegiances have shifted. Luna is now official personal best pony. Everything about her awkwardness was adorable as fuck.

Nightmare Moon IS Luna, at least an aspect of her. It would make sense for Nightmare Moon, then, to speak similarly to Luna, and vice versa. Luna just doesn't go around threatening eternal darkness and what-not.

However, for sake of argument, let's assume Nightmare Moon speaks differently from Luna because, well, yeah, she probably doesn't care for that 'royal' way of speaking. Even then, when NM is defeated and reverts back to Luna, if the 'royal' way of speaking is how Luna normally speaks, even if she uses a more informal tone with Celestia and given the circumstances, there would still be elements of it there.

That's how my mind interprets these things, anyhow. For all I know Luna only speaks like that to the citizens, and when it's just her and her sister she speaks just like everypony else. Perhaps she even makes a lot of 'horn' jokes. IDK.

Uh... Blah. Don't care. Don't even want to compute that.

Though that makes sense. Personally I'm inclined to think that NM was a case of corruption/possession or something like that, so they're not necessarily similiar. I see your point, however, and I suppose you can be right.

Believe me, if Rarity was in costume, EVERYONE AND THEIR DOG WOULD KNOW.

Also, I love Octavia's appearance in this episode. And Derpy and Rainbow Dash had the best costumes EVER.
