Anyone planning on seeing Nightmare On Elm Street Remake in a couple of months? I might catch it in a matinee cause I'm a big wuss who doesnt normally like scary stuff, but my curiosity is piqued and ive been thinking of making reviews like Nostalgia Critic and AVGN. Feel free to discuss it here.

Re: Nightmare on Elm Street

It looks interesting. It'll be much different without Robert Englund as Freddy, and could be a fresh start. However in the same breath it could become just another blood soaked slasher flick without anything really going for it... aside from gore for the blood fetishists.

Re: Nightmare on Elm Street

I'll probably see it eventually, as I'm a big fan of those movies. I'm actually somewhat cautiously optimistic. Since neither Halloween or the Friday the 13th remake were horrible. I still prefer the originals, but they did a good job of portraying them in a different light. Not really looking forward to the gore which I'm sure will be in it. Especially considering some of the gore in the original which they have to top somehow.

Re: Nightmare on Elm Street

Not really, though then again I saw one when I was about 4 and it scared me shitless. Same with It. However, I can't wait for Ghostbusters 3.

Re: Nightmare on Elm Street

I'm iffy about it. They're allegedly getting rid of the humor, which was the only thing that made Freddy really different from all the other horror icons (other than the powers of course.) Still, the guy who played Rorschach from Watchmen is going to be Freddy, and he's one of the few people I can think of that's a good enough actor but not annoyingly famous enough to do the role justice.

Re: Nightmare on Elm Street

Well just saw a new trailer for it, and it looked... not too bad. I'll see it eventually. However, Freddy seems awesome and quite creepy in it. He sounds exactly like Rorschach, so the actor didn't change his tone at all.

Freedy without Englund...

Getting sad now...

But yes... I am going to watch it even though most of the remakes that have been churned out have really REALLY sucked...

Like Rob Zombies Holloween and the new Firday the 13th and that Horrid mokery of

I'm just glad that Romero's going to be making Survival of the Dead...

I've been running on empty after Diary of the Dead and the Zombie Diarys...

If there isn't a blood fountain out of a bed for no reason, I won't see it.

I rather enjoyed Rob Zombie's Halloween, and Friday the 13th wasn't bad after I shut off my brain and went "bbooooobbbsss..." and giggled like a school girl whenever Jason killed someone.

And that 3D Night of the Living Dead was absolutely atrocious. Though the 1991 remake of it by Tom Savini wasn't too bad. Speaking of George Romero though, I just recently saw the Crazies, which is a remake of a movie he did back in the 70's, and he was an executive producer (surprising after he said he wanted nothing to do with the 2004 Dawn of the Dead (Which I still think was stellar)), and not only that, but the movie was actually quite good! While the ending was nothing special, the journey to get there was actually really well done.

Apparently it did exceed his expectations, though =P
Though that is quoth the wiki

ANYWAYS.

I'll probably see it when it comes out on DVD and gets in the Netflix lineup. I'd love to see it in the theater, but I most likely won't have time until it's already out of the theater.

Re: Nightmare on Elm Street

"It was better than I expected. I thought it was a good action film. The first 15, 20 minutes were terrific, but it sort of lost its reason for being. It was more of a video game. I'm not terrified of things running at me; it's like Space Invaders. There was nothing going on underneath."

The wiki has never shown me wrong, though =P

Re: Nightmare on Elm Street

I've heard people complaining that these slasher movies made the watcher cheer for the killer, and all characters are uninteresting fucktards. These people are wrong. This is PRECISELY the point of slasher movies. That being said I just plain don't like the makeup on - Hailey I think his name is. The old Freddy mask was perfect, and I can't seem to get myself to like the new one.
