It depends on the stage.
Some stages are designed such that every squad will reach the finish line after about the same number of turns if they all have roughly similar speed ratings. A squad that is much faster than the others will finish the stage first, possibly before every boss/normal pest is defeated (one or two medals).
Some stages are designed where squads that start in a certain camp have the shortest or longest route to the finish line. On short paths a fast squad may end the stage well before any other squad could finish clearing out everything on their particular path (one or two medals). On long paths a fast squad may still end the stage first, but since their path was so long the other squads had enough time to clean up everything in their way as well (three medals).
In my case, the four squads on my main page have a mix of speed ratings (542, 516, 721, 451) as do my allies (anywhere from 406 to 815). Most of the time I end up having problems full clearing a stage because of RNG antics, but sometimes it's because I put a squad in the wrong starting spot and they got to a certain spot on the map too early/late.

Most maps seem to pay off if the speed of all your squads is roughly the same. But not all.
While we're on the topic... honestly, swapping around party members to adjust speed to increase RNG success is not fun and is a bad game mechanic. But I guess it is still somehow slightly less bad than most other CCG gameplay.

Not even a single team in my squad get past 500 speed for Friday.
Some of my allies did change their team to slower one, by that time I already finished with more stamina than it should be with slower helper.
This isn't always the case of course, and I still insist it's annoying if 90% of your allies is going sanic while my average squad speed is 500-600.

My Bergmont Valley girls teams speed all averaged around 400 or less.
But fortunately most of the 3-x World defense maps just needed them to match speeds, I could only recall one map needing a really fast team. On that day I just used helpers with speed in the low 500s or even less on those runs.

Well with the start of the new event there's another multi-stage event gacha for the event girl and her blooms along with more new Knights. Something that I noticed is that one of the new Knights is a silver/4-star (Zephyranthes).
I was preparing to be at the mercy of the normal gacha RNG when it came to getting her but it turns out she's the second special prize in the second stage of the event gacha.

Got bored yesterday and after doing some normal gacha for to level my event girls to 8 I got 2 silvers, so I decided to do a flower gem pull, got Anthurium dupe, Sterwartia and the rainbow Cherry. Since I got no Magic users to level today I did some more normal gacha until I got a silver unit again, rolled the limited gacha and got Cactace Bride dupe, Peach dupe, Bergenia and the rainbow Ardisia. Exactly what I wanted. Still got 124 gems left over but they can be saved.
World defence maps are getting slightly hard for me but still easy enough, i just can't have my weakest teams take on everything now. Before this last update I had every 2*, 3* and 4* evolved and max affection though which helps.

Even with Zephyr and Primrose I only have fifteen Knights from the region, leaving five empty squad slots.

I just noticed that the second half of Gentian's reissue added another set of pumpkin jewelry to her section of the shop. If you missed out on the event the first time around or if you want another set of jewelry to build up, now's the time to work towards getting those four pieces.

Besides Easter, the last cash ticket gacha was a month ago. Then there were three ticket gachas two months before that (Developer's Choice for gold/rainbow, Valentine's). Maple's FG ticket gacha was also around Valentine's.
I ended up biting on this step-up gacha since I needed the rainbow dressbloom and figured I'd go the whole way.
Only step 2 gave me anything decent, and it was still all dupes.
Oh well. I pulled a new Laurentia earlier on a yolo roll, so it's not all bad.
Burning Bush and Holly make a cute team.
