So why use Rika now?
To OP and Overkill , with asumption majority here already cleat Immortal Beast
And You can do it without her anyway
Though I already have her at 55/70

If you think of Rika as Overkill, why use Horace? I really don't understand what everyone likes about her. I hate her artwork and find even her usability questionable and thus will probably never use her. IF I ever use a magic fencer it'll probably be Charlotte, who looks so much better, but I honestly doubt that this will ever be the case. And I say this as a freemium

I personally had no preference between Horace or Charlotte. My only deciding factor was that Horace had max CR and max skill. My Charlotte had max CR but her skill was only 5/10. So from what everyone suggests, I suppose Rika does sound a bit more appealing, but i should eventually get a magic fencer leveled up.

DMM player here. I echo Altrius.

The solution of course is just to level both. Especially if you are a free player. Rika and Horace are still good units in the modern DMM meta, in spite of many other event units from the first year of the game falling off somewhat. Even units like Karma are less used than they once were.

IF I ever use a magic fencer it'll probably be Charlotte, who looks so much better, but I honestly doubt that this will ever be the case.

Horace is almost unanimously considered to be better than Charlotte, who is generally called the worst plat rune fencer. Not using a unit for aesthetic reasons is certainly a valid choice, but this does not make a unit like Aisha(for example, even if Nutaku will probably never get her), who many people hate the art of, less ridiculously overpowered.



I'm mostly wondering why the usability of melee slot ranged magic damage is being put into question, though. I thought everyone loved Sybilla. I mean everyone realizes that ranged magic damage was her selling point, right?

No I don't use Horace ATM , I already clear Immortal beast and WOM
I only Lv up her for long term investment , since WikiAigis people. Specially those that play DMM many say Horace ==> Charlotte
I don't like Horace either
Charlotte is cuter , agree on that
But I prefer utility like I always said
No I don't like LOLI , and I don't care Nutaku banned them
I only prefer them for utility and variety of strats
I don't like Conrad , and better of not using him till bitter END
But if it really need him in the END , I will swallow My pride
And use him , all just because of UTILITY
Hope you will understand that~

Also , I NEVER said I will not use her , I will use her
But there is no EVENT now , why would I even use Rika and Charlotte / Horace?
Thus , she is warming the bench now

Yep, I got Betty, Cuterie, and Celia too. The only unit I'm missing for farming purposes is Roberto, but I can live without him since male affection units are hardly a priority.

Anyway, I also finally CC'd and mincosted my Rika, though she's only at 5/10. Still got seven Rikas left to spare.

Aaaand Monica CC'd. Good thing I had 20+ gold fairies and Roys stored up.

Ninjas, Magic Fencers, and Bow Riders are all the truest forms of support because they have a ranged attack from a melee slot at all times. To make up for this, they either have middling stats (Ninjas), some form of drawback (Magic Fencers and Bow Riders), or aren't good when they have to block (Ninjas and Bow Riders).

At this point in the game we have little need for a lot of units. Just because they may not seem usable now does not mean they won't be usable, if not close to necessary in the future. The difference between Horace and Charlotte isn't so big that choosing the "lesser" Charlotte purely because aesthetics is going to hurt you later on.

In any case, Horace is great. Rika is great. Charlotte is good. They are all usable.

And if I may say, Horace is probably the one unit in the entire game that could be considered objectively "perfect."

Meaning , Horace Max CR , Max Skill. Thanks to 24 Star in her EVENT

Not meant that she is PERFECT in every situation

Also , Charlotte 10/10 Skill ==> Attack X 1,2 for 15 Second (Total ATK on 100% Aff is 535)
While Horace 5/5 Skill ==> Attack X 1,3 for 30 Second (Total ATK on 100% Aff is 503)
But , Charlotte skill Initial time skill and cooldown are faster
While Horace is slower

But in reality it is X 1,18 (Look at X that have Red Colors) not X 1,2

So , think about it before choosing either of them
Both have pro and cons

But really , all this number are mean nothing
Specially if You like some specific girl

Like , You don't like Bernice , You like Leeanne instead
So You use Leeanne to tank Black Oni
Or , You don't like to use Guy. So you don't like to use Gellius , You use Leeanne instead

The reason most people say Horace is better stat-wise is because:

• after AW Horace has a lot more attack
• Horace's longer skill time is much more important and useful even if Charlotte compensates with shorter cooldown
• Horace is easier to get max CR and skill because star event
• Horace's AW skill is incredible and crushes Charlotte's

But again, Charlotte is not bad. Very usable. If I give Horace an 8/10, I'd give Charlotte a 6.5/10.

We probably will. There are a lot of patches and balances we'll get eventually no doubt.

Why Horace could be considered "perfect"?

Considering aesthetics. Fair skin, long black hair, toned (not too skinny, fat, or muscled), decent breast size, exotic outfit.

I'm just saying that if you got someone who is into fashion and body image, but has never seen much Japanese anime stuff, they'd probably approve of Horace's looks more than most other characters.

I know that I generally disagree with everyone who creates "fashion", but do you really like her clothes? For me it's the point I dislike about her the most. The second would be her hair style and third her kinda weird looking face (I can't even say her face looks more realistic than the others). For me she's far away from the perfect look (actually the first unit I dont want to use because of her looks; well, I don't really like Daniela either, but at least I like her sprite and she's a silver, nothing I really worked for), but I guess everyone has their own likes and dislikes

Face on these characters is almost entirely irrelevant to me. Most don't have strong enough of a facial representation to make me like them more or less simply based on that alone. I will a big reason I don't like Garania or Patra is because of their faces. Claudia and Raichi are nice though.

Outfit is whatever. All subjective. It is skimpy, which a lot of people like.

Hair style? What style? It's just a standard case of stereotypical girl long hair.

Looks are always subjective, but there are people who try to objectify beauty. You've got pageants (Miss Universe RIP Steve), magazines selling the "#1 sexiest man of 20XX," and similar stuff. I just think that Horace has what these people look for.
