Freemium may be lacking some of the sexy ranged-power but it hasn't stopped me from completing all events as a non-gacha player (I've spent money on expanding storage only) by throwing as much ranged dps as possible at problems, including melee ranged like Saki and Horace. Now that I have AW Claudia, AW Imelia, and AW Karma though I can slug it out with more enemies.

I think a bigger issue freemium players have is healing. My only healing options right now are AW Iris, AW Fedora, and silvers. Really wish we can get Pippin's event as well as Sera.

Of course, everything can be cleared as a freemium without problems. It's just that every map I had to retry several times, was relying heavily on ranged DPS. Most recent example is the last map of Mementos event: Undead Swarm, which took me about 9 tries or something and is the hardest map for me since Horaces last map and Solanos last map. At the same time other guys said that they were disappointed in how easy that map was and the most difficult map in that event was the map before (Slay the King of the Dead), which I for example cleared in my second blind try. The difference was: Without enough ranged firepower on the last map you had to pull some serious tricks, whereas on Slay the King you simply had to place whatever units in the right spots.

As for healers, yep, I was lucky emough to get barely enough DC's to buy Chydis on the last thursday she was in the trading post. I feel like she is not too important for most of my strategies, but I might be wrong. Several other people said this as well, so you probably have a point^^

Bashira... Okay'ish? As a free player?? Hm, she stacks well enough against her premium replacements (Elizabeth and Rachel) imo.

Besides, only archer better than our free pair is black one, Solano is hardest hitting magical AoE unit (after black version of a Summoner), Belinda used to be about only key to Wall of Magic (other than min-cost silvers), up to the rebalance patch, and is a bearer of witch-buffing passive. And there's no premium shamans or dragon shamans here at all. :D
Honestly, I don't really like Bashira anymore, I chose to AW Rita instead. Haven't used her for quite some time. And I am freemium. I'd use Elizabeth over her every single time - if I had her.
I did mention Solano to be one of the two ranged freemium units I reckon to be really good. She has her weak points though. On maps where strong waves take longer than her skill duration you can get screwed if you don't have some other good ranged damage dealers to back her up.
Belindas +7 % is nice. But that won't really help you on maps where you really need to squish out as much ranged damage as possible, when your only other witches are Chloris and Calliope. All other platinum+ witches are better in my opinion, when you simply concider raw damage. Aside from Wall of Magic I have not seen another map, where her skill really mattered. Eliza would be the better choice in almost every situation. Sadly we skipped her event for now. Hopefully we'll get her for christmas.
As for Shiho and Echidna: I was not comparing them to other units of their class. I said they are not really an option for good ranged damage. Which is okay, since they are not really ment to (as hybrid classes), but me including them in the list of the best ranged damage units we have as freemiums pretty much shows where I'm going by itself...
Don't get me wrong. I like those units and am using them myself (well, except Bashira, as I said), I'm just saying that out of all the different unit types (ranged damage, duelists, tanks, anti-rush, reinforcements etc.) ranged units are what we are lacking the most, except for healers maybe.

You know, if you could even just skip the animation by clicking it'd be so much better, but having to watch the slow spark every. Single. Freakin'. Time. Honestly, I got 4.2 million gold at this point. I'd probably spend down to 3m or something, but it'd take (and I just timed it to see) about 4 and a half hours. Assuming I never had to go clear my inventory. ERGH. So much ergh.
There are programs that you can use to record mouse movements and clicks and let them repeat it endlessly. You ca use those for afk summoning. Biggest problem is that you'll get your unit slots all occupied at some point. Maybe put all your units in the barracks.

Aha, and now we found the root of your gripes with ranged dps! You chose to discard your best physical burst option! With your other physical burst possibility being plat pirate that sacrifices range for speed, there may be some difficulties going...
Magical damage wise, Odette have comparable dps to all other plat mages for sustain, Echidna have higher(!) dps than Sasha and Garania for burst, and Solano is Solano. Adele does have higher burst thanks to her fearsome skill, but Belinda have higher sustained damage, and Cloris thanks to her Increase Attack III is not too shabby herself to cover burst situations. And she do get that 7% boost)
On the melee ranged front, Saki's the best ninja, and between Charlotte and Horace you have both quick-skill and high-power magical damage covered.
And there's Waltz to augment them all ;)

So, while premium-augmented team have more options, free players have all tools necessary to complete everything Aigis have thrown at them for now.
I don't particularly feel ranged damage area of free player lineup lacking, honestly. Healing, on the other hand... Well, high-skill high-level AW Iris can thankfully pull a lot of weight) And I heard a lot of good things about Shiho's hps... But hopefully Chydis stops being mere myth soon enough :D


I am consciously not counting shrine blacks in because blacks and lolchances.

Yeah, I will say, I do find Bashira to have a... Class problem, in that in areas where Archers are bad, she's extra bad, but, to be fair, in areas where archers are good, her burst is extra good.

Granted, I ended up AW'ing Beatrice first, but that was more a case of "Ooh, AW came out, what am I in a decent position to AW? A pirate? Sure, I got one of those, what's the AW passive? Chance to double tap? Yeah, sure, hit me up." (I would've done Anya first but, ah... Yeah no special Awakening at the time and all. She actually was one of my first max level'd characters waiting for it actually, soooo sad with the lack of Special Awakening >_>)

I don't actually USE her that much, mind you, though she finally got a good work out in the Hell map. And has proven an amusing Bashira replacement for maps where I meant to bring Bashira but forgot (as her rapid fire + double tap chance is quite good if enemies are running through her... Bubble, as it were). Also just when I need a 3rd archer because my Rita... Er... Well she's like 50CC20 because I haven't really gotten around to working on her over stuff I've been more actively using... And I only got 3 CR on her so she's actually the same cost as my Bashira and Beatrice, for that matter. Oh well, better off than my Shao, who might be min costed, but is 50CC1 and will probably never see use. Er. Ever. Poor darlin'.

Edit: Also, randomly, what the heck, Claudia loses stats when she AW's? Like, I was just glancing through the stat changes for the special AW's I have available, and I was... Not impressed with Themis's massive... +15 attack (though her passive is kind of neat, a shame Claudia has made her basically pointless), Rowanna and Echidna's, like, what, +70? attack was pretty neat, but... Claudia loses 25 attack, 200 HP, and... 7 defense? What?

claudia's max atk is 566. when she is awakened max is 699. no idea what you're talking about.

You mean CC70 loses stats to turn into a level 1 AW unit >.> Melphy you got to compare max CC and Max AW lvl stats.... Cause NUMBERS

Regarding to Themis, it's a little odd that she seems to be a bit of an exception. Checked both the wiki and my alt account seeing that Themis actually does get an increase in ATK and DEF upon AW1, but her HP has the normal temporarily reduction.

Though, I guess it's not too surprising since there usually are exceptions. Kinda wonder why Themis is one and how many others are like this where they only have one stat (or maybe two) affected on the temporary loss.

Well, maybe we simply see it from different points of view. Sure, Bashira can do physical damage bursts. I don't really need single target burst though. And when I do the enemies have noteiceable defence which makes her useless once again, because of her "low" base attack. Without her skill up she's the worst archer (well, Rita has lower base attack but her AW ability is basically 20 % more damage and Victorias base damage is lower as well, but at least Victorias skill has 2/3 uptime vs Bashiras 1/3 and makes her able to damage units with higher def values). I used to use her all the time, but I can't really say she made anything easier. Giving her out as the first guaranteed summon is a great choice in my opinion, because she is really good for beginners. Once you have leveled a propper team she begins to matter less and less though. There is a reason Nanaly (who is a much stronger version of her) is not concidered to be that great anymore on DMM.
The only real situations where she is valuable are against lots of week mobs (which most of the time are weak enough for Spica to 1HKO them as well or bascially anything else), mobs hitting to hard to block them (haven't seen any in quite some time) or low defence bosses (who are no problem either as anything can kill them easily). All in all you can sum up my dislike against Bashira as: I don't like single target burst units, as I don't see their point. (I did use Bashira for the end of by the way, she felt kinda useless though. She deals almost no damage to the big mummies, even with skill up. I just placed her because I had her left and I thought it coudn't do me any harm...)

I'm not sure if you like Beatrice or not. I can tell you that I don't, though. A terrible skill makes her like the worst pirate in my eyes.

Odette... yeah, thats true. I don't really like mages at all in Aigis. Somehow I always feel like they lack something. For almost all classes I have several units I like alot and wish I had, but for mages and bishops (except Eterna who's far far in the future) it's more like "Meh... I guess I could live with having her, at least she's a tiny bit better than the rest...".

Echidna is once again burst with even less uptime than Solano or Bashira. Of course there are situations where this is useful, but I wouldn't call this a solid base for ranged damage.

As I said, I never had any problems with healing. Most of the times I use only AW Iris. I didn't even AW Chydis until recently because I didn't think it was necessary. Now I simply didn't have anyone else to awaken who was more worth it.

Since noone pointed it out that clear: All units loose stats temporarily on awakening. There are very few exceptions. Echidna gains +2 Atk btw and Rowanna -16. They have about 70 more attack at max level though. Claudia has 133 more attack at max level, which leaves me thinking you simply checked the wrong line^^

Naaah, I figured it out, the real issue is that I forgot some of the units I was checking aren't actually at level cap, so most of the growth is like the 10-20 levels they still need >_> I keep thinking AW is just an adjustment on the current stats, so whatever the AW page shows is what it would be if those adjustments were added now, and that's... Uhm, what's the word?...

Right, not true. Looking over some of the others I actually do have ready for awakening... You are entirely accurate, Themis is just a weird anomaly and I need to pay more attention to what the heck I'm doing the rest of the time =P

Browsed a bit through the wiki and interestingly Aria, Katie, and Julian's DEF aren't affected upon AW1. Too late to check Aria and neither the Main or the Alt has their Julian CC'd, but Katie's looks right. Of course there are usually the exceptions to rules, but it just seemed a bit interesting to me since I never really bothered to notice until now because of the ingrained knowledge that most units temporarily lose stats upon AW.

AW Soldier's def was globally increased in a balance update and therefore we have it as well. The growth rate is still the same, but everyone got a higher base value.

Healers are another good example. They are all very close to their old Attack value after AW and reach their old value much earlier then they do for def or HP

Right, forgot about the patch; the wiki even notes the balance changes on the class pages. Still, sort of interesting to see their DEFs being unchanged at AW1. Looking at Jerome and Zenobia they seem to have a shared decrease of exactly 10 DEF on AW1.

Edit: So, how's everyone doing on farming? Or is anyone good on Silvers and decided to do some grinding? My Alt's still drowning in Silvers, while my Main is slowly collecting gold through Iron Pirates. :V

Farming tin can with a side of archers and HA's and not doing so good on the tin can part. doing great otherwise since I have quite a few Witch at CC1 already waiting for me to need them.

I suppose part way through this week I'll switch to mages. Silver mages drop somewhere I think and I am kinda lowish on them.

I got 2 healers,2 angels,and 1 mage(which was what I was after to awaken Mehlis),and then switched over to get some witches,which I only need 1 more then I'm gonna go after the archers.

Tho got to say I was pretty surprised to get those 2 angels.Never lvled up Niel in DMM,since I had cloe,and now I have Miruno.

Farming tin can with a side of archers and HA's and not doing so good on the tin can part. doing great otherwise since I have quite a few Witch at CC1 already waiting for me to need them.

I suppose part way through this week I'll switch to mages. Silver mages drop somewhere I think and I am kinda lowish on them.

I'm doing the same map, but having lousy luck with Archers. So far I got 6 HAs, and only one archer. I did pick up about 4 plat armors though.

It certainly seems like that sometimes.

almost always for me but silvers will become a biblical plague once events become back to back and get guaranteed first drops alot of my silvers on dmm are mincost cause i had nowhere to put the spares but inside themselves until i recently got my second and third barracks but well out of 500 slots i have 150 left all random silvers

also does anyone know when dmm got there guaranteed 1st drop we will probably get it sooner but at the very least itll show a rough time frame for us getting them

Since we havn't gotten it yet,1st guaranteed drop won't show till renbell's event,which happened on DMM last year in August.
