(Nutaku) Milenium War Aigis (English Version)

Re: (Nutaku) Milenium War Aigis (English Version)

I was thinking of getting into this game but I've read lots of recent complaints about the English version.

Now I'm not familiar with the game so I'm not sure on these "revival" events and event schedules but if I were to get into playing this game, I'm assuming I would be better off playing the dmm version?
Question is: do you know enough moonrunes to fluently read Japanese? No? Then, is your stomach is strong enough for constant googling and asking vets about every little thing? And/or, do you not care about characters and story much and only interested in gameplay?
If your answers are "Yes" then DMM is better.
Just, be sure to never spend a dime whenever you went. For what they did (or didn't) with our version, that <expletive>s do not deserve the money.

Story is translated by Petite Soeur in neighbor thread, and his translation is actually much better than Nutaku's, so if you care about story, your DMM experience would be much better: story is presented in proper sequential order without any gaps, properly translated, and coming at decent pace so you don't have to wait half a year to see what happened next with particular character.

...outside of a game itself. So much for the immersion :p

And while translations for event dialogues do exist, same can't be said for character scenes. Well, there are half-score of girl whose conversations were translated, but that's it. :D

So True!!

For all DAT , You can stick with Nutaku~

Don't ever play the Nutaku version Aigis.
This is what I will be telling everyone else from now on.
This week's break proves nothing will ever change.

Also, if you are still playing, don't spend a single cent on it.
I actually want MWA closed now for its disgrace to the game's original title.

Re: (Nutaku) Milenium War Aigis (English Version)

Hmm, well it's not like I dislike putting the extra effort in to google stuff, since I'm learning Japanese already it might even help. While it would be a little disappointment that character scenes are translated (at least story is), if the DMM version allows me to enjoy events/gameplay more, then character scenes are something I'm willing to sacrifice. Thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it.

Also, what is meant by "break"? Are they just not releasing events at all, constantly repeating events or adding like filler events

Break means no event at all. Right now we had 1 week of completely nothing, then 1 week of old event repeated, then now back at 1 week of completely nothing.

Re: (Nutaku) Milenium War Aigis (English Version)

Most of the time (in good times, we'va had it even worse) we get one event (depending on the event type this takes one or two weeks) and then one week of nothing. If you are new to the game this is good, because you'll need this time to level your units. For players, who play this game for a long time already, this sucks though, because there is not much point in leveling anymore. Events are too easy, because our units are too strong because of the high amount of breaks (leads to more time to level your units -> your units are stronger than they should be) and some people don't even have anything left worthwile leveling at all.

Yeah these breaks are only good for hoarding more gold/fairies/exp armors/DCs/affection items. Also for leveling units which I will likely never use. Need more events!

Re: (Nutaku) Milenium War Aigis (English Version)

I don't know about you guys, but the reigning reasons I play Aigis is for getting new girls, reading their h-scenes, CG and sprites, and interacting with the community. Nutaku actually does a really good job translating the actual h scenes. I'm pretty sure DMM are the ones Google Translate copy/pasting the story and menus. But the story in this game is paper thin anyways, and almost every event is a non-important side story with 2~3 lines of dialogue.

The tower defense aspect of the game is very mediocre. There are hundreds of non-h tower defense games that are better than Aigis. Many of those are even free.

Moving to DMM loses too much to be interesting to me. Even with the slow Nutaku pace, it is still a decent game on its own with the good character sprites and well-translated h-scenes. Take that away, and DMM is just a mediocre tower defense with some decent CG and a bad story. I would rather play Fantasy Defense on iOS or something of the like.

I'm sticking around on this sinking ship, because it is still fun to play right now, as frustrating as it is to know what it COULD be.

Re: (Nutaku) Milenium War Aigis (English Version)

I don't care about the H scenes at all, I skip all of them immediately. For me it wouldn't matter if they removed them completely or maybe only for the lolis.

I'm playing it for the tower defence aspect actually. I played lots and lots of td games, but I liked none of them as much as Aigis. Having cute girls instead of generic soldiers or towers helps as well, but actually I like the gameplay of events and creating strategies. Not so much the grinding part honestly, but it's okay, I've seen worse.

I won't move to DMM, because I don't like thowing everything away, that I have achieved. I could of course, but whenever something forces me to start over from scratch I tend to just never touch it again instead.

Believe or not, the stories in the events do get better, i've been reading Petite translations in the dmm Aegis thread and they are pretty insteresting, the thing is that the first couple of events didn't have any story in the events at all, they where mostly introductions to certain characters, so as ong as we don't get more events this can be shown.

Re: (Nutaku) Milenium War Aigis (English Version)

Now that we are back on this topic, whatever happened with Nutaku taking over and giving weekly events? That was the idea a few months back, as far as I can remember. I suppose it'll just never happen, but I'd really appreciate if Nutaku would just come out and say it then. Frankly, I love this game but I'm still starting to get bored. These off weeks are just pointless. Sure, I can level units and all that, but it's just not fun when I can complete most of the new event missions (aside of G-maps sometimes) with my current units. Hell, most of the time my AW team is a hell of an overkill. And I'm far from being the strongest here.

I'd jump ship to DMM, but... eh, I don't have the patience. My friend has been playing there for a year and he invites me over every other week, but seeing the kinda insane events they are having there where even his kinda insane lineup is struggling, I wouldn't get far. And I just don't have the patience to wait months to get my units up to the level where I'd actually have a shot at new events, nor the money to buy myself into that power level faster. It would be an exercise in frustration, especially after being used to having an OP roster. And then there's the obligatory digging in the Japanese wiki, jumping through hoops to get a DMM account rolling, looking up threads for the story translations... too much of a hassle for what is essentially a 30-minutes-per-day browser game.

You clearly haven't read the glorious Nutaku blog post where they told fans that the Aigis developers wanted to continue supporting the product! We got a nice little paragraph devoted to our little game at the very bottom of the post!

Aigis: The Japanese team behind Aigis: Millennium War have reaffirmed their commitment to keeping one of our longest-running, most popular games filled with fun new content! Hurray!

In previous posts we've written a bit about Nutaku's future hopes for Aigis, and we will continue to work with the original developers to deliver on those concepts.

Long story short; they made an extremely short notice on a blog post that it ain't happening, that Japanese devs want to keep control over Aigis after all, and they added a smug anime girl laughing reaction image to it as well.
So yeah, basically, "FUCK YOU". You missed quite a shitstorm.
Personally, I don't believe diddly squat of their bullshit, because I have no reason to.

Re: (Nutaku) Milenium War Aigis (English Version)

am I the only one who interpreted that gif as the writer laughing at the devs believing that what they were doing was sufficient for Aigis? Like I get why people are suspicious of Nutaku because we legitimately have no communication from the Japanese side of things and as such the narrative is really one sided, but I just feel like the assumption that Nutaku is intentionally screwing us over on this game just assumes bad faith with no proof either.

i doubt its intentional but the fact there basically doing nothing to change the state of things is enough for me to question and not want to support nutaku and i didnt take the gif as laughing at the playerbase more of a we fucked up dont be mad though laugh
as for the jp devs as you said i havent seen anything from there side of the story so i have noting to base my opinions of them on but my thoughts are both of them are at fault in some way shape or form

Maybe not 'intentionally screwing over' per se, but being lazy assholes with zero desire to actually implement their hollow promises? Sure. Why bother trying when they can blame it on forces outside of their influence, forces that are literally a whole language barrier away from being checked for legitimacy?
And as to their motive - why it's one of the most effective, but not exactly the oldest, tricks in the videogaming industry. Bait with a hype train, deliver lackluster product (or don't deliver at all in this case), then bail the fuck out, claiming that literally the entire planet and the stars around it are against you and you've done all you can. Look at all those failed Kickstarter disasters. Look at No Man's Sky.
The question is - how long do they think it's going to work? I don't know, I have no data on the scale of whaling in Nutaku Aigis. But I DO know there are some absolute fucking retards out there who operate under the mindset of "I'm glad Nutaku Aigis is having breaks because I have more time to sink money into DMM Aigis now." THESE kinds of whales are the biggest issue here - the people who shove hundreds of bucks down their throats because they just don't give a shit about getting fucked in the ass. If it ain't broken, why fix it? If it makes money, why bother changing?

Rant over. Maybe I'm wrong. But I have no basis to believe I am. Only the contrary.

AS FOR THE SMUG ANIME GIRL.gif, I think someone writing that post was trying to appear as endearing or something, but from our perspective it was easily interpreted as mockery. The fact they don't realize that just proves how little they know or how little they care about the Nutaku Aigis fanbase.

Huh, I didn't even know there was dwarves in Aigis. Until today. Pulled Gustav today.

And that Magical Armor Soldier Jessica, I'm never gonna pull her aren't I? I'm never able to pull any of the spotlight units I want. Instead of wasting 100$ and failing to pull anything I want and getting into a fit of rage and going on other hiatus. I have decided to not spend money and wait for Fate/Extella that's coming out on Nov 10th next month and have my own Magical Armor Soldier named Jeanne d'arc.

Take that spotlight units that never join my army. What are you gonna do now? Join my army?

So far as has been said, the JP devs agreed to give control over to Nutaku, Nutaku tasked people with becoming familiar enough with the workings of the game to be able to take over localization while the JP devs continued putting out events in the interim, and then some time between early September and the time of the blog post the JP devs took the offer off the table. So now we're back to square one.
