Hey Everyone, I know there has been a lot of talk about LoV closing down, so we wanted to write a little something to explain the reasoning behind it and how we are moving forward.

Check it out on our blog:

"Sadly, all these new games have turned Lord of Valkyrie into a bit of a desert: many old comrades are no longer active, and finding friends during off-hours to help fight against timed bosses is frustratingly difficult. Compounding this problem is that newly arriving players are overwhelmingly choosing games like Osawari Island, Aigis, or the mobile-friendly Dragon Providence."

Interesting, does this mean any LoV account gets transferred to Hitsuji? I was logging in until a few weeks ago when my complete lack of any storage space just disheartened me from bothering.

Another thing that would be nifty is if a gallery of all the LoV CGs could be posted somewhere. Given the game is being shut down, all the uncensored assets will be gone. That'd be a shame to see go away.

So who's Next?

I hope Nutaku can kick Aigis dev ass and give us more event
So many unimplemented + skipped unit
Also fucking Trading Post is deserted for 10 month
Despite they care enough to add spirit of Awakening there

Every game will die as LoV after what you did to it, or more accurately what you didn't do. First "event" was after ~3 months after launch, events that lasts twice as long they should be, due to that many events was just skipped, horrible edits and their pinnacle - Nuzaku, which will haunt you in worst nightmares, engrish, and Nutaku forgot long ago that game existed (when you last saw anything about LoV in their twitter, fb or website?)
LoW is one of eldest games and always in top10 of dmm rating. We can only pray that Nutaku won't ruin any other successful games.

Hitsuji Chronicle has been described as “an unofficial sequel to LoV”
Good joke.

Re: On Lord of Valkyrie and Games Closing Down.

Edit: Japanese LoV is ranked 6th out of 65 atm at the H site lol

I've rarely (not once actually) seen LoV advertised on the front page when a new event is going on
and the lack of game updates (like why do we still have glimmers?) probably killed it.

I still have quite a lot of friends kill my mega bosses so it's a shame.

So who's Next?

Re: On Lord of Valkyrie and Games Closing Down.

Not surprising. When I registered, Nutaku had LoV and MWA (and that two luv games nobody wants to talk about). I tried both and frankly, the only reason why I kept playing LoV for a long time was because there wasn't anything else on Nutaku. Once the site started to have more games that I could keep playing, LoV was the first I dropped.

It's slow, yet requires constant activity (because of bossfights). The incredibly tedious levelling system was bad and when I hit the point where even my gift list was full and would had to drop money on the game to expand my card limit, I actually stopped for a minute and asked myself: Do I really enjoy this or am I just playing because it became a habit? The answer was the latter, so I just dropped it.

Sure, the translation probably didn't help either, but other games have terrible translation as well and they still flourish. Best example is Dragon Providence. That game is borderline unintelligible at places, with some texts left in Japanese, yet it's one of the most trending games. Another issue is that far eastern gamers seem to have a much higher tolerance for repetitive grinding mechanics, which are the core of LoV.

Of course none of this will make any LoV players feel any better. It sucks when a F2P game that you've put so much time and effort in just closes, I've been there. But hey, eventually Nutaku had to start closing down their less successful games. That's part of the business. Although, this isn't the first game they got rid of. That godawful Luv Bingo game that nobody ever played also disappeared from their list of games at some point.

Which kinda makes me wonder how come that LoV is losing money for them, yet Luv Slot isn't. That thing was a barren wasteland like half a year ago.

I'd say their games featuring real porn instead of hentai are going to be next.

In the long run (so, like a year or more down the line) I don't think that Duel Squad, Girls Kingdom or Angelic Saga will last. Duel Squad is an uninspired clone of Dragon Tactics, and the latter probably isn't doing all that awesomely if they have to run a "please come back playing this game, we even give you gifts" campaign.

Angelic Saga is quite time consuming with a horrible netcode (at least it was horrible when I played it). And considering that the JP version closed down months ago, Nutaku will run out of events in the long run and I doubt the game would be so popular as to make it worth to invest money in making new, Nutaku exclusive content for it.

As for Girls Kingdom, as much as I like it, I can see the issues. Again, not so good coding, so it runs like ass in most browsers, requires a lot of time to be at the top, but not demanding to just stay in. This, combined with the fact that it has very long events, makes it a secondary games for most. Which isn't a great position to be in when you actually want to make money. Considering that they started to sell out premium gacha units essentially for peanuts (considering your chances of getting them from actual gacha spin at least) is probably not a good sign.

Re: On Lord of Valkyrie and Games Closing Down.

I pretty much only played LoV on Nutaku until PPS came along (I loathe tower defense games, so Aigis wasn't an option). I quickly lost interest in LoV when inventory started becoming a big hassle, and I never liked the leveling system to begin with.

QoV has everything I hate about LoV, and I've already lost interest, which is a shame, since my encyclopedic knowledge was actually useful.

Re: On Lord of Valkyrie and Games Closing Down.

I would hope that QoV sticks around since it's actually a decent side game and there's no compelling need (for me) to grind, unlike LoV, Pero, etc.

But yeah, Nutaku has had a year now and you guys still need to shape up on the censorship, event frequency, and whatever else to actually keep these games afloat.

Even if these games can't be expected to stay afloat forever, you don't want to be the main cause of them failing. Especially for top-rankers like Aigis or the upcoming FKG.

Since the game is closing, does this mean I'm gonna have to finally change my Navi avatar on the Nutaku site? :(

Re: On Lord of Valkyrie and Games Closing Down.

This doesn't surprise me. Updates for it were sparse and never really contained much in the way of content, it was never advertised anywhere, and all of my comrades were quitting even before I stopped logging in.

Whatever the reason, at the end of the day if it's not profitable it makes no sense to waste space and money hosting it. I'm sorry to see it go and feel bad for anyone that spent money on it but I probably won't miss it much.

Re: On Lord of Valkyrie and Games Closing Down.

Sort of ish sad to see it go, though more on the case of nostalgia reasons, since I played it at nearly the beginning of it's life cycle. Though, honestly the only reason I even played it was to kill time for my Charisma/Stamina to full up on Aigis. Only thing I regret is, that I never got to max evolve Navi or see her 'Dark' Form or whatever that was. idk if any of my comrades are on here, but it was fun ganging up on them bosses, thanks for all the help.

Decided to take some pictures for the memories.

Re: On Lord of Valkyrie and Games Closing Down.

I spent a lot of time in the begining on this game and made many mistakes.
Even got rid of all cards at one point...yea big oops there.
Looks like this will be the end for the team then.

Re: On Lord of Valkyrie and Games Closing Down.

Mighty little me and my one only deck in attachments.

I just played til like level 8 and quit because the game didn't give me a single gold summon so I could see what rare girls in this game is like and guessed it must be not worth it. (Inb4 i quit before the game could give me one. lol)

So today I log in after forever and see that the game now gives me one lottery gold so I did a pull and obtained meathead teacher. Would've kept playing after that single summon, but its closing down so oh well. Stabbed few things just to remember what combat looked like.

Re: On Lord of Valkyrie and Games Closing Down.

Just posted my entry into the contest, 10 prizes and not that many entries, looks like decent odds to win something. I'm going to go through my book of collected H scenes later to grab the art for each one before the game shuts down, I'll post em if anyone has interest.

Sounds like only the grand prize is anything substantial.
