I see your point. Yeah, having the Master Key on Doc Kat's M4 is probably the best shotgun-ing option, as Henderson has the M203.

That, or anyone can grab a shotgun before a mission. It doesn't always have to be the same.

I'm just wary of pushing the medic to the forefront to breach doors, even if she could easily do it.

What about breaching charges?

Anyone could carry them as well. They aren't heavy.

We'll have to wait for the rest of the guys to chip in, but I think one or more characters carrying breaching charges may reduce the need of a shotgun, maybe eliminating it completely if decide carrying a shotgun isn't worth the bother if the most likely thing it will be used against is dogs.

Similar to just putting some C-4 on a door and blowing it up? If so I can probably have my guy carry some, assuming it's not going to make his bag so heavy even a body builder couldn't lift it.

Explosive breaching can be the fastest, although most dangerous (to breacher and occupants) method of breaking into a room. Depending on the situation, explosive breaching is potentially slower than a ballistic (projectile i.e our previous idea of shotgun-ing the hinges off) breach due to the large standoff required when using explosives, if there is no cover available. Breaching can be performed with a specially formed breaching charge placed in contact with the door, or with various standoff breaching devices, such as specialized rifle grenades like the SIMON breach grenade.
Explosive breaching charges can range from highly focused methods, such as detcord, plastic explosives, or strip shaped charges that explosively cut through doors or latches, to large satchel charges, containing 20 pounds (9 kg) of C4, that can breach even reinforced concrete bunkers.

Personally I prefer the US army's standard method of opening doors for building clearing. Though it doesn't work well if hostages are involved, since tank rounds have a tendency to kill people. Who knew?

I wouldn't worry too much about all the extra stuff like that really. Since you may want to change weapons out depending on your mission and such. That is why briefings exist after all.

Well, using the shotgun to blow the hinges is slower, but it also has a psychological impact on the enemy. They hear "Boom-ch-chick" twice...it has the "Weeeee're coming to getcha!" effect...plus, she can just blow the door and then stack up to let someone else kick it in. :p

I was trained thus...

First guy, points shotung. *boom* *boom* *kick* Then moves out of the way as a flashbang flies in. Flashbang goes boom, other soldiers rush in and pop the bad guys in the chest and head. Room clear, move on.

Regardless, considering that this is a modern military RP, most of our missions throughout will be in Middle Eastern settings, and most doors only really need a foot. At least in Afghanistan.

In that case then a 40 S&W round should prove more than ample against a locked door if for whatever reason playing kick ball with the door isn't an option.

Possibly yes. But if sole doesn't work, safest just to pull out a shotgun.

Well, we can choose before different missions which equipment to take with us, shotgun, breaching charges, whichever is best for that particular mission.

All right, sorry I've been slow with this. Trust me when I say I've been busy with life. I have a few questions hopefully they won't take much to get answered before I get started on the intros.

1. Hero, just to help me out with some ideas. I actually don't know much about the SAS, other than it's the special air service and British SF. If anyone else knows about it feel free to add to this. What I really need to know is what is their actual mission? I mean there's a big difference between seals and green berets, and I would like to be as appropriate as possible. Other than that he looks good.

2. Sinful pretty much the same with CSOR. Sorry but I've always payed more attention to regular forces than SF.

I believe SAS was originally founded as a counter-terrorist unit and still does that, but I think they also do other ops. Hero can probably tell you better than I can, but I know they are a selectable in Counter Strike's games, which deals Heavily in Terrorist Vs. Counter-Terrorist. Pretty sure they'll fit in with this with no problem whatsoever.

3. Siphon no real questions for you, as everything seemed pretty straight forward. Just one thing that popped in my mind that may help you out if you wish to use it. Did you want him as SF or just regular USMC?

Also just for you're knowledge USMC snipers got to marine scout/sniper school. Sorry I love scouts for obvious reasons if you've paid attention in the forum.

EDIT: Most SF do CT ops nowadays I was thinking more of what it originally started as. If he'd chosen the SBS(doubtful considering his fear) I would know more, I love the movie the Guns of Navarone.

I'm too tired to think up a proper answer so (for now at the very least) I am copying a section from Wikipedia.

Current SAS roles are believed to include:
Intelligence collection in the battlespace
Battlespace preparation by sabotage and offensive raids in the enemy territory and within key enemy structures
Counter-terrorism operations inside UK territory in conjunction with police forces
Counter-terrorism operations outside UK territory
Training soldiers of other nations, and training guerillas in unconventional warfare
Counter Revolutionary Warfare (CRW) activities in support of UK government Foreign Policy

I may put more on later, but not right now.
