(Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

If the ranger thought the city they were in now was a modest size, the view of the city on the other end of the portal took her breath away. So much stone and grey material. The place looked so drab and lifeless. How could people live there without any decent display of color? Even a garden of flowers was better then this. But amidst her mental rants, she notice something strange coming through the portal and she'd peer in. Shielding her eyes for a moment from the light, the ranger would take a moment to make sure her eyes were clear before she got a real good look at the stranger sneaking in on their portal. Seemed a little rude in all honesty. But at least she could respect her audacity and curiosity.

"I'm pretty sure we've seen our fair share of spellcasters, friend. Witch or no. You guys tend to dress the same. Forgive me, I'm rambling as always. Call it a personal flaw that I need to fix. So mind explaining how you got into our portal and why you wanted to use it to begin with. And careful what you ask Laya. Might give Kat ideas."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"I'm a sorceress, Kat, there's a bloody difference!" Talia snapped back at the barbarian, groaning in exasperation. She then turned her attention towards the woman, wondering who the Hell she was. As for what she was doing here, that had already been firmly established. She was a curious idiot. "So uh. Mind introducing yourself? That's a rather important portal you used there, by the way." She briefly glanced at the ranger as she caught the tail end of her words. "Kat doesn't need others to get ideas from. She comes up with them just fine on her own."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Not like I wear pants anyways!" Kat exclaimed. She was wearing at the moment some wrappings around her breasts, and a loincloth. "And you both cast magic, and your both girls.
Sooooo what's the difference?"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Laya came in, blinking. "Hey is the sage heeeeuuuh? Hm. You're not the sage. Hand check.,"

She glanced at the new womans palms and the back of her hands. "Huh. You're not a chained or unchained. You turned on our portal? Is that the capitol back there? You seen an elf around there? Also, is that pants less look popular in the capitol right now?"

"Elf? Who are you talking about? There's lots of different races in the capitol!" she chuckled. "Actually, it's my way of presenting my charisma! One look at my thick thighs, and people start being agreeable!" she stated.

"I already said why though."

"Name's Quincy! Nice to meet you!" she said, holding out her hand. "I'm a witch out to gather the spells of the world. I plan on learning everything that the Sage of yore knows. And more! I figured this was something she made a long time ago, so I investigated it. It took a lot of work, but I got inside and redrew the glyphs, creating this teleport! I'm guessing you wanted this to happen? Then, I suppose you owe me a favor! Fantastic!" she said with a grin.

"Not like I wear pants anyways!" Kat exclaimed. She was wearing at the moment some wrappings around her breasts, and a loincloth. "And you both cast magic, and your both girls.
Sooooo what's the difference?"

"The difference is: I'm a scholar! I like to learn and then learn some more! It's the only hobby I developed under my master's care, that and using what I've learned in really fun ways!"

"Anyways, mind if I come with you guys? You seem to have chains, meaning you HAVE to know the sage! Let's find her together!"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

At first Weiss wasn’t exactly sure what to make of the woman that stepped out of the portal, she looked harmless enough, but when Laya confirmed the absence of a chain, Weiss started to look rather annoyed at witch, and Weiss annoyance only grew the further the exchanges went. Not only was the witch rather scantily dressed, but her personality seemed to be rather ditzy. However, Weiss wasn’t exactly annoyed at the woman herself, Weiss was more annoyed that a woman like her managed to bypass the teleportation security, and managed to use the portal. Even if Weiss assumed she is an amazingly powerful caster, the fact that someone was able to use the portal only filled Weiss’ head with worries.

However, once Quincy introduced herself, Weiss managed to set aside her worries for now, and shake the woman’s hand. ''Pleased to meet you, I’m Weiss, a cleric of Eldath. You might want to be careful using such tactics to make people listen to you, since it might spur them on to take advantage of you, and that shouldn’t be something you want.'' Weiss commented on her explanation for a lack of attire. However, since Weiss believed one should wear what they like, she wouldn’t press too much onto the witches’ lack of attire, as long as it doesn’t get them into trouble. ''Before we go… perhaps you could explain how you managed to fix this portal, since you lack a chain around your hand, I’m worried that anyone with the appropriate amount of knowledge can do so. Hopefully it wasn’t an easy task, since it would be awful if our enemies could activate them and use them.''

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Thing is, I'm pretty sure you opening that for us is a lucky coincidence at best." Talia deadpanned, sighing. "We were supposed to wait here for the sage to open a new path for us so we could go fixing the mess that's getting started up somewhere out there. Given that she hasn't shown up yet, I'm inclined to worry a little." An idea came to the tiefling, making her narrow her eyes. "Say, I don't suppose you've heard anything about an elf spellcaster getting into trouble in the capital lately?"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Quincy shook her head. "No, and if I did hear about such a thing then I'd have been there, meeting her instead of here! I just figure she'll show up anyhow if I hang out with you lot!" she declared.

Then, Weiss had her full attention. "Cleric of Eldath!?" she exclaimed, looking Weiss up and down. "Hmm... Yup, makes sense! I'd turn peaceful for a body like that~!" she cooed. "Don't worry about me and what I do and don't want to happen. I'm a free spirit, in fact, maybe I could even teach a Cleric of Love and Peace a thing or two about her own trade~?" she cooed again, with a wink. "I managed to open this portal because I am a Witch of Divination. Just like your sage! I foresaw this event from my dreams! Sort of. It just so happened that (I rolled a 20) I figured out a way to unlock it, because I saw myself unlocking it in my dreams! I just did what future me did!" she explained it as if it was so simple. "Even now, I have no idea what I did, but my dreams don't lie! With this kind of power, surely you'd like a friend like me?" she inquired.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Eager to follow us because of our chains, dosn't wear pants and wanting to bed a Cleric of Love and Peace? Honestly friend, you'll fit right in around here. See if you can boast that confidence when confronting the fury of nature herself. Or at least someone who is sworn to defend it."The ranger says with a smirk and a hearty laugh. "I admire your boldness and confidence, friend."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

''I know that she most likely did it by luck, but if an enemy did the same thing, things could get rather bad quickly. Perhaps we should suggest to the sage some way to disable them from a distance, just in case the unchained manages to get ‘lucky’, or perhaps when one of us betrays the rest.'' Weiss suggested to Talia. Of course a simple solution like that might not be possible, but trying to put some defense mechanism in place would be better than not trying at all.

''Body like mine?'' Weiss looked confused and a little bit bashful at the overly excited the witch. ''T-That shouldn’t be the reason for people to turn peaceful…'' Weiss muttered out, feeling slightly worried about how people perceived her. ''That’s alright. I’m perfectly fine with the knowledge I already possess.'' Weiss responded with puffed cheeks, she knew she wasn’t the best at some of the more naughty aspects of her religion, but it was slightly embarrassing to have someone offering to teach her those things, and the idea of doing those things with her, made Weiss’ cheeks flush red. ''Anyways, like our ranger said, you’re more than welcome to travel with us, and perhaps you could give the sage some advice on properly securing the teleports.''

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

The witch covered her mouth and let out a yawn. "Thanks for the appreciation?" she inquired towards Vylyra. "To be honest, you are the polar opposite of me, wearing so much clothes. I don't think I should try purely on grounds of compatibility." she shrugged.

Then, advice from Weiss. "Well, technically any tool on hand can be used by the enemy. It's always going to be slightly unsafe to have something that can be used against you. It was by my powers of divination alone, not for luck, that I found a way in. If the dream didn't come to me this day, then tomorrow. It's whimsical." she stated. "Anyway, let us be off to the capital through this portal!" she declared. "Also, what kind of Cleric of Eldath were you? I seem to be mistaken, but such worshippers are often... Fairly easy going. You're the first one I've ever heard of that has weapons and armor. Are you some kind of third party? Because your appearance doesn't scream peace, and your words shy from love. Which is strange, because I'm almost positive one of my dreams showed me a priestess of Eldath learning about the hero chains while making love to a lizardfolk. I guess that was a false telling?" she hummed.

"Oh well," she shrugged, shaking her head. "Time to go, follow me!" she said, cheering as she walked into the portal.

If followed, on the other side was a typical setting of an Empire of stone and economy. Guards seemed to be everywhere on patrol, lending to a very militant environment. And the populace looked taxed for some reason. They looked weary and upset.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Talia snorted quietly as Quincy mentioned her vision. Actually, it was pretty damn accurate all things considered. Weiss certainly didn't look the part of a peaceful cleric, but at the same time said looks were misleading in their own way. Though as she stepped through the portal and got her first good look of the capital, the tiefling felt her good mood evaporate. Guards everywhere, unhappy citizens... Yup, this spoke volumes of the local government and situation in the city. This was no war weariness - otherwise, all the militia would be manning the defenses. No, they were there to keep the populace in check.

"Word of advice, everyone." Talia spoke quietly to the rest of the group. "Try not to stand out any more than we already do. Something tells me it's best not to draw too much attention. Also, we need someone who can tell us what the Hell is going on here." She glanced at the witch. "You wouldn't happen to live here, would you?"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Laya listens and then finally shrugs. "Fair warning friend. We fight monsters who will rape you. And without our sort of defenses... Well I might be able to fit a mountain giant inside me but you...?"

She wrote some notes in her book, then way more once they were inside. She looked around with a frown. This... Did not look promising. There was a lot to learn it seemed.

"Indeed. Well. Either way it seems obvious we need to start gathering information. In situations like this, we'll want taverns. Drunk people tend to make their discontentment known, and we'll probably hear a fair bit. But I'm betting on increased military presence justified by increased gnoll activity."

She looked around for any sort of notice board or what not for any recent decrees.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Quincy looked back at Laya with a grin. "I know." was all she said in reply to her mentioning rapist monsters. "And you're probably right. The Knightly ruler here declared that he's increasing taxes to create an undefeatable military force to destroy the gnolls and take back their prisoners. The people aren't happy about being poor though." she said.

Then she looked to Talia as they left the shack, and walked what appeared to be a suburban street filled with folk wearing shabby clothes, all of which seemed to stare at the strange group immediately, for how strange they were. "I don't live here. I actually used to live in the Sky Palace Arcadia, just over the grand ocean. That's where I learned how to be a witch." she stated. "I can tell you though, that I have no idea if we'll be welcome here or not. There were guards harassing me before I found this shack, asking me if I had a chain on my wrist. They left me alone when they saw no chain. So, a head's up: They're looking for you~"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Wel we already learned that he was born of the chains as well. Born of a great knight himself and I can see he takes his role very seriously, which is admirable in some regards. But at the same time, the look of the city and the people say something different. And near constant patrols don't scream virtuous and protective." The ranger sighs a little, remembering why her parents said to stay away from large cities like this. Or at least limiting her time in them. It was taxing mentally just walking around. "I can understand wanting to save the people you're sworn to protect but taxing the remaining people into oblivion to do so seems a little much. Would an army really solve the gnoll problem? Gnolls are tricky creatures from my time in the wild and they are...resilient. And hopefully he doesn't mean us ill if he's searching for us.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment." Talia grimaced as she heard the news. Quincy was way too upbeat considering what sort of news she had and it was starting to grate on the tiefling's nerves. "For now, let's try to avoid drawing the guards to us until we find out why he's looking for the chains. In the meantime, let's find a tavern. Laya had a decent idea with drunks parting with information easily."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Towards Vylyra, Quincy giggled. "Well, unlike a lot of lords, you can clearly tell where all the money is going!" she declared. "So... That's a good thing?" she questioned, as if unsure.

Then, Talia's qoute seemed to... Make Quincy stare. "Where does that saying come from? That's awfully depressing. Since hope can also pave the path of Determination." she announced. "Believe in something enough and you convince yourself it's true. That saying can work both ways. Anyway, I think I saw a tavern somewhere around here. I will make like a good leader type and lead the way there~" she announced. And then she took them to a tavern relatively close by, a rundown building of wood called "The Stop" where half a dozen patrons lurked sitting on one of many seats. As if it was usually never full.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"You can probably tell what one of my parents was, right?" Talia replied, sighing. "I did some reading on the subject of infernal entities in my spare time. Including one obscure, minor text written by one such entity. It was not a particularly motivating read." She grimaced. The tavern itself didn't inspire confidence either, though that thought was one she kept to herself. Instead, she just looked around, noting that only a handful of people were around. "Right. Might as well sit down for a bit and have a drink or two." She glanced at Laya, giving the bard a questioning look. Did she want to try and dig up some information alone? Joining one of the patrons with their whole group would likely spook them.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Quincy and Talia sat down, as the barman, a bald fellow with a thick, muscly build and swirly white mustache, approached them. "'Ello ladies. Wut can dis 'umble barmin do for ya?" he inquired.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Laya hummed and followed along, listening to things. Quite a bit to consider, the first being that she reached into her pack and slipped a set of fingerless gloves on. Helped to avoid chafing her palms while giving her the dexterity to work her lute, or bow. And in this case, help avoid accidental notice of her chains until she was certain what the circumstances were.

Once in the tavern and the barman approached, Laya smiled friendlily to him. "Ah, well I don't know about these folks here, but perhaps I can help you. Things seem to be in a bit of a mood around here. I'm a bard by trade, perhaps I can help a bit, if you'd have me? A drink and I'll spin a few tales, play a song or two perhaps if you'd like?"

Best way to break the ice in her opinion, was to provide what these people likely would be lacking, something to distract from their woes and provide them some hope perhaps.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Nuttin wrong wit a bit o' music 'round these parts. And if'n a drink's all ya charge then I'd be more thn 'appy to give you lot all a pint." he said, before pouring everyone a mug and handing all the girls present a pint of frothing ale.

[Everyone gets 1 beer!]
