(Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"True, we could raise them there. Would probably get help. Wonder how the goblins have been settling in there." Kat fingered her greatsword, if the goblins had gotten up to...unwanted shenanigans, they'd be in for some murder soon. Though then she moved to help Laya with the crate. "Let's get this back home. Let's go!"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Ah, thanks Samua. Good look to you and your tribe." Talia bid the lizard chief goodbye, suprised by his gesture. He was a truly generous man, especially considering how much that treasure was worth. Leaning down, she grabbed herself her share of gold and one of the scrolls, noting it was a scroll of Grease. Not a spell she knew, but she could see why it'd be a useful addition to her arsenal. Maybe she could work on learning to replicate it. "Alright then, a job well done. Let's go back home and talk with the Sage, I bet she'll be pleased." The tiefling turned to look at the newest arrival. "What are you going to do? Come with us?"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"A part of me wishes most of our missions turn out more like this one. Or at least not as bloody as the last one. Only having to talk and negotiate and rely on our brains rather then our sword arms was a welcome change of pace. Though...we did get a bit of a workout in the end I suppose. But those of you knocked up are gonna need some bed rest when we get back to the village. And hope the people don't mind the extra mouths to feed. Though they put up with my anti-social behind all these years, so I don't think some sharp toothed offspring will make a difference." The ranger was ready to go herself, but would wait until their return before she considered taking her share of the reward. Maybe she'd consider buying or renting a place in town so she wasn't so far from it in the event of an attack.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

The Half-Elf shrugged. "Well, it appear that all of you have a much better concept of removing the corruption than I do, and this sage person sounds like someone i'd be very interested in meeting. So, yes, I would like to come with you, if you don't mind. I'm handy in a fight and I know my way around..." Shelendra offers, awkwardly clearing her throat.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Arriving back in town, the girls found that it was alive with arguments and yelling and talking all around. The return of pretty much everyone thought lost to the lizard folk was such news that it was all anyone could focus on. All the same, the Mayor was suddenly held with much more praise when her return had behold the return of all friends and family. It seemed things were going much better for her. She stepped forth to congratulate the girls. "Well done, all of you. I wish I had something to give as thanks, but for now... Why don't you visit the local shops? I can offer a 25% discount for your first purchase. It's not much, but it's within the limits of what we can spare." she said. "Take a stop over by the two-story shop near the middle of town, there's an old woman there named Miss Rardaye who will see if she can share with you some of her wears."

Shop
The shop is a two-storey tower hewn from an outcrop of crystal, with tall elf-wrought wooden shelves. An obelisk engraved with glyphs stands beside the building.

The shopkeeper is an old female human named Marget Rardaye. She will purchase monster teeth for a silver coin each.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Kat looked at everything in the store, and turned to Laya. "Laya! Can Kat borrow money, boots of jumpyness look pretty good. Run faster and jump better very useful for getting to where stabby needs to happen."

The dogbold was well, giving Laya her best dogbold puppy eyes. Trying to get her to give her enough funds so she could buy the boots of Striding and Springing.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Laya looks about, nodding to the mayor and glad things were going well around here. On reaching the shop, Laya nodded, looking over to Kat, before handing her the gold.

"Sure, here. Anyone else need the money? I have more than enough for my needs in the copper. I never used any arrows so I don't need anything else. Got rent money, enough to replace food, all I require."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Talia perused the items on display. However, none of them had caught her eye and Kat had already called dibs on the shoes. "Hmm. If someone needs a bit of money to buy something, I suppose I can share as well. I suppose I've got less of a need for combat equipment thanks to my magic." She paused, giving the items a second look. "Unless someone wants animal friends to call upon on tap."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Shelendra stood in the store, waiting patiently. She only had the few coin she brought with her and wasn't about to ask strangers to she theirs. That, and she spent most of her time getting what she needed in the wild, so she didn't visit stores too often...

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"That'll be 180G!" Rardaye declared, expecting as much to be put upon her table. If 180 was handed over in total, she'd hand over the boots.

"I see you are spending well, your gotten gains." said a voice from behind, as in came in the . "I shall depart, and prepare the next portal destination. You may remain behind here, I suspect you might want to acquaint yourselves with military and the like, as there may come a time when you must defend this place. I'm sure, that if you happenned to anger the Chaos Dragon, she may be sending vindication your way. So best you prepare if she is. You'd know better than I though, about that. I will return next week. Take care until then."

Turn-Based Strategy Mode!

The heroines at large can spend their hard earned cash doing lots of things, including donating to local war funds of an area for the purpose of hiring guards and the like to defend. 5E allows for even lesser combatants to fight even dragons, so honestly hiring the common mortals to fight chaos is completely reasonable! As long as you have enough of them. In addition, you'll be able to recruit more powerful entities later on. An example being, the lizard folk, who are now allied to you! I'll be posting rules and info in the 1st OOC post, including how many soldiers you have and where, and the total income you're making, and the total cost per day you pay your own personal Hero Force.

Each territory will attempt to sustain it's own personal military force, which will be the bare minimum which it needs to defend itself. You can hire more soldiers, purchase them gear, and have them act as either a military force attacking or defending territories. When you eventually earn enough Gold to start BUILDING your own properties, you will likely need soldiers to defend your new, owned territories as the forces of Chaos will seek to rape and pillage your land and others. For now, your price range is just buying Guards and their gear. But later on, you might think about buying a Trading Post, or building a small town and collecting taxes! Both of those will cost 5000gp. For the future!

For now, you have your intro to the Strategy mechanic, which is mostly just a singular look at it. The soldiers you hire can be brought with you during adventures, but keep in mind that they're only good at fighting and barely so at that, they cannot sneak and make anything but fighting useless. Mostly only useful for possibly saving a comrade who's been captured.

For now, you don't need to worry about doing any strategy or purchasing of soldiers. Samua and the Mayor can defend against the threat outside the town.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Some times passes... Not for much consequence, as the Mayor simply had time to come and check on the heroes. "Hey, how are you all faring? I see you found something nice. Sorry I couldn't do something like hand it all over for free. They're expensive items, and I'm compensating for the reduction with my own funds. She said."

Meanwhile, the shop clerk was waiting to be paid. Her foot was tapping and her eyes were narrowed. Impatient.

"We've got things from here. We've also had a bit of a bandit problem but Samua agreed to help. So, where are you all going now? I noticed you came from the Sage's Hut that's been seemingly abandoned in town. I was wondering if that building, which I was told to never let be destroyed, would ever be significant. I guess it was, eventually."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"The hut in question houses a magic circle we can use to rapidly move around." Talia nodded at the mayor as she explained. "Our sage is currently working on re-establishing old connection the previous generation had used. And it's good to hear you're already working together. Problems like bandits are much easier to deal with when you've got some allies to help you. As for our next destination... That depends on which connection the sage has restored by now. I imagine there will be some issues to deal with in at least one of those locations, judging by how Unchained have apparently managed to spread around."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Laya chuckles a bit, leaning back. "There's definitely perks to close ties to a species who's entire body is built for survival in harsh environments. Scales, claws, fangs, aquatic. You should be quite safe for a good while. Still, we'll keep an eye on the situation. Well, they will. I'm just a bard following along. Talia's quick negotiations and Kat's enthusiasm saved the day here."

She hummed and went over to look at any maps that were there. "Wonder where we're going next time. The desert? Those islands? The rocky wastes? Or maybe we're gonna get to see the capitol?"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"I'd like to in time train some other rangers to work on long range patrols individually or in pairs to scout out the lands around us. Act as sort of an early set of eyes so we can better learn of approaching threats or discover threats in neighboring regions. Maybe even help folks who are living out in the hinterlands. But a dream for another time. And when funds are more readily available and recruits willing enough. And when I'm a better ranger. I'm fine right now, but I can always be better."She made that singular promise to herself at the end but the rest was quite audible to the others present "Whose to say, Laya. The swamp certainly was the most interesting endevor so far. Going to take quite a bit to top how unexpected this was and how we were able to resolve it. If we could do that for all our missions, we'd be sitting pretty. But I doubt our future enemies will be as rational and reasonable as Samua"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"I imagine it'll be the capitol. I've heard rumors of corruption within the government there, and there's been some odd folks sometimes happening by that act like I haven't paid my taxes. I have forms and all to deny that claim. It seems the general talk is that the new Governor is corrupt, so I've half a mind to believe that he is one of those enemies you seek. Becareful though, political power isn't to be scoffed at. He may be just one man, but he's got influence." she advised.

"I also hear that gnolls are causing trouble. A dangerously large group of them at that. Since creatures of old could reproduce so rapidly, my thoughts are that they already victimized areas they were near to, and that their numbers are no doubt already swelling. Be careful you don't get victimized by them. If they take the capital, the war might just end with that."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Damn it." Talia muttered a few curses in infernal and draconic under her breath. "Corruption in the government is the last thing we need. It'll have to be rooted out quickly, before they push to impede our movements or worse, brand us as criminals or rebels." The tiefling grimaced. "If we're lucky, they'll be content to simply try and satisfy their greed for now, but they'll keep pushing for more if they find no one to oppose them." The sorceress mused.

"The other problem is whether we have time to deal with that corruption. It could turn into a time-consuming affair. And given that those gnolls will likely keep expanding their territory and numbers, we could be looking at an eventual invasion." Talia continued, rubbing her forehead. "We may need to work quickly to depose him and try and rally the capital to our cause."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

(Sorry for dissapearing, was super busy for last few days)

Kat would give the shopkeeper the pay, and would slip on her new boots. Even as her ears twitched to follow the conversation going on with Talia. "Kat thinks we should go fight gnolls. Better to take out the threat first. Then go root out corruption. Otherwise gnolls will have giant army and overwhelm us."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Laya hummed, tapping her cheek with a finger. "We shouldn't assume that the two are unconnected. Addressing both in some manner may be necessary. If we get the aid of the capitol only to have the gnolls overrun us all, it won't be much victory. And if we somehow stem the fuzzy giggling tide, only to have the capitol turn on us or even just not help at all, we're in trouble too."

she shrugs a bit. "Still, we'll have to prioritize. Though we can't make any true informed decisions until we arrive and assess the situation. Though I suspect we may need some subtlety this time. We definitely will need to cover a lot of ground. It's not like the capitol or the surrounding areas are small after all."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"So we may end up having to split our attention, or handle both problems at once?" Talia muttered, grimacing. "Vile. We may end up having to get this shit done as soon as possible. Let's finish up all preparations we have left and go speak with the sage. She probably picked up some information about what's going on while she was portal hunting. Or maybe saw something in her divinations."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"If I could make a recommendation, I think we should probably take care of the gnolls first." The Paladin speaks up, breaking her earlier silence. "While a government that doesn't serve its people is something that should be taken care of, I feel that a group of gnolls is a bit more... dangerous, not to mention that the whole government issue would take a very long time to deal with..."
