(Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"It's never easy isn't it?"The ranger sighed already sensing the level of diffuclty this decision would have. Help the city or deal with the gnolls. But both problems had a deeper issue then their solutions could provide. Ignore one for too long and it could lead to a great deal more difficulty. Ignoring the city could lead to being branded outlaws and having guards and patrols after them, while ignoring the gnolls for too long could put them on the war path and sweep through their lands without hesitation. Their village would just be put to the torch and their women put in chains. "Much as I want to go with Kat's idea, we need to see what the Sage has to say about all this. We're running an awful risk with this decision. "

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"The sage won't be here until much later. Why don't you stay the night for free in my manor in the meanwhile?" The mayor offered. "Until she returns that is."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Thank, Miss Mayor. that would be greatly appreciated.," smiles Laya. Honestly she'd rather go be with Samua but, eh, there just wasn't enough time to go there and come back and get ready to get gnolls out of government or whatever this problem was. Maybe they just had to build a wall.

"Let's get some rest, girls. We've got a long day of intrigue and giggling fluffy people tommorow!"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Thank you, mayor." Talia nodded politely. "Yes, it's best we tackle those issues after some rest. The more energy we have, the better." She stated, accepting the offer and starting to make her way towards the manor.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

A rich dinner of muttons, gravy, mashed potatos and buttered carrots awaited them. Followed by some of the softest beds they ever laid upon, like sleeping on clouds. Concluding with a rich breakfast of ham and eggs. The girls were treated to a high class experience.

[Inspiration is given to all who post here to take it after dis post and before my next post that says END OF LINE. Because old references are good.]

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Talia rated the dinner very highly. While she tended to be rather picky about what she ate, vegetables in particular, everything she had been served was right up her alley. Thus she gladly ate it all, complimenting the chef at the same time. The bed she got to sleep in only reinforced the sense of luxury. This sort of quality was not something she could experience often and she gladly indulged in it while she could. A hearty meal and a great bed ended up contributing to a good sleep, the tiefling resting well as the mayor's guest. She had a sneaking suspicion she wouldn't have another chance like that in a long while anyway.

When morning came, the sorceress was rather loathe to get out of bed. Even without the added lure of luxury, she was not a morning person and it showed. Still, hunger eventually made her give up, crawl out from under the bedding, refresh herself and go join the others at breakfast, greeting every person she met on the way with a nod and a curt "morning". It wasn't until she sat down and had a few bites of eggs and meat first that she spoke up again. "So. Unless something went awry, the sage's probably back. Wonder how bad the news are."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

She wasn't expecting a meal, but Shelandra wasn't one to pass up free food. She enjoyed the hot meal, a bit surprised on how classy it was, but again, she wouldn't complain.

Afterword, she took her room and slept the entire night. Sure as hell beat her tent and bedroll... Though, she could only wonder how long it would be until she could indulge herself in anything similar...

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Vylyra wasn't sure what o say about being allowed to stay in such a fancy place. As a ranger she was very much use to the outdoors and not having to be so formal. But here, she felt things were expected differently of her. None of her usual behaviors would fly. So she'd try to imitate what some of her companions did to better blend in. Well, except Kat. Kat was less civilized then she was. But she certainly couldn't complain about the meal. It was a good cut of meat and the vegetables were prepared perfectly, though different then what she was used to. Nor could she complain about how comfortable the beds and sheets were on her bare skin.

Morning brought with it a new set of challenges, but the ranger never minded waking up early. She often did growing up under her parents tutelage so this was nothing. A quick wash and a dress and the ranger was ready for the day, far fresher then she normally was on her average morning. And another good meal to round it all off, the ham being seasoned just right. "The Sage tends to be pretty punctual and I feel like she would have warned us had she been held up.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Laya wasn't expecting to see a manor in a swamp as fancy as this. Pretty weird all considered. But she wasn't going to complain about fancy food and soft beds by any means, cuddling the pillows and blankets happily and rolling herself in them into some sort of Bard Burritotm.

When morning came, she took a nice long bath, checked her tummy size then got dressed and headed down after dressing up nice and pretty. She sorta doubted she was pregnant this time. Or if she was, it might take the full time without the cursed magic. Time would tell.

Meeting up with the others for breakfast, she smiled, having done her hair up and got some nice perfume to use. "Gotta look pretty for the capitol. The sights, the sounds, the shop, the audiences! I've never been there, I'm quite looking forward to it."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Considering what my folks told me about large cities, how can we be so sure that dressing up all nice will garner us any sort of respect or admiration? If anything, we may be better off downplaying our presence in the city and not announce that "Hey we're the kids of those heroes from before. Hope nothing bad happens to us.". Again, i won't you from dressing up Laya, just have to be careful if we're going to the city. And honestly, are we certain that the city will be our first stop?"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"I should probably take this time during breakfast to tell you all who the Ruler of the Capitol is. Despite being the center of the human kingdom on this continent the king is not there. Rather, he lives off shore, at a place called a Grand Capitol. It's surprising how many people, usually foreigners, are shocked to find no true king in this country's Capitol. We're more like a proxy territory for the original. We adhere to their rule, though it's pretty lax considering there's an entire ocean between us. For all intents and purposes, the High Lord of the Capitol is a king, due to that nature. Even if he is the ruler, he still has to adhere to the laws and rules set in place by his own higher power. So he cannot break the law to harm you. However, he still commands great power, so if he is your enemy, he CAN find ways to hurt you if he chooses to. But one wrong move and he'll be beheaded for treason." The mayor stated. "As well, I understand he proved his worth and made it into his status by being a powerful combatant and strategic leader. Be very careful about trying anything with him, alone in his presence. He charges at the front of armies, not at the back. He is no pushover, even for heroes."

"He is called Captain Talion. His armor is easily identified as all of his skirmishes and campaigns of honor were etched onto his plate. To top it all off, he is like you, born from a great old Knight who helped seal the Chaos Dragon."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Weiss wasn’t sure if she should enjoy the various luxuries in front of her, the entire task went over rather smoothly, and besides their little failure at the start, everything went pretty much as they planned, making Weiss question if they really deserve such a luxurious treatment, for such minimal work. However, Weiss wasn’t going to turn down their hospitality, and listened to the mayor’s warnings while enjoying her meal. Despite them going to meet up with someone like themselves, someone who apparently proved worthy of being a puppet king, Weiss was concerned with the warnings the mayor gave them.

''Those are some very peculiar things to warn us about, if he’s really like us, he shouldn’t have any reason to distrust or feel need to harm us. Did he perhaps get drunk with power, and seeks for any excuse to abuse it, or is he perhaps an extremist, that wants to purge any corruption in sight, even if they’re willing to change?'' Weiss questioned the mayor, curious as to why she warned them about him so strongly. ''Either way, I don’t think I would treat him with any disrespect, and I assume most of us would do the same, including the one that just joined.''

After Weiss said that last part, she turned towards the new addition of their group. ''My apologies for my rudeness, I couldn’t find a proper time to introduce myself, I’m Weiss, a cleric of Eldath.'' Weiss introduced herself to the new addition.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Well there's no reason to assume that he's the one who's corrupted off the bat. It could easily be a lieutenant or some mage who controls him or a shapeshifter or all sorts of possibilities.," says Laya, "We'll need to survey the situation. Chances are we'll need to divide our time wisely so just be ready to split up to cover more ground if need be. Not for anything dangerous obviously but to gather information and such."

She hums a bit "That said, I hope he can share stories with us. Perhaps his mother left details about our opponent we could use to figure out what their plan is. As things stand we're just being reactive. Sooner or later we'll need to take the fight to Chaos."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"You know, a thought occurs." Talia mused as she digested the information she got from the mayor, pondering the implications. "If it really is him that has grown corrupt, then a direct confrontation is likely not only unwise, but even unnecessary. As long as we have proof of corruption and a way to deliver it to authorities willing to set things straight, we're good." She pointed out. "Getting it done is the hard part, sure, but once the judgement passes, we're in the clear. Though Laya has a point, we'll have to get a better understanding of the problem first before we do anything. The problem with intrigues is that things rarely are what they seem to be."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

[End of Line]

The following characters get their inspiration boxes checked if they weren't already:
Talia
Shelandra
Vylyra
Laya
Weiss

"You have a good point." The mayor said. "I don't know how you're going to do it. I'm the political sort that tries to pass laws and do things with talking. I don't know how you adventurers operate. But I'm sure you can handle it." she said.

Then, their food was finished, a citizen of the town came to the Mayor's door to inform the heroines: "Hey, the witch's house is glowing. Figure since she was with you, that'd interest you." he said. And indeed, a white light was emanating from the hut. If the girls checked, they'd find that the portal was working. But no Sage came from it. It beheld a great sight of a giant city, where all you could see was concrete and the sky.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"It's kind of a 'whatever works' approach." Talia shrugged, replying to the mayor. "We're not terribly picky in regards to our methods. Still, looks like the path forward is open. Thank you for hosting us, hopefully if we see each other again it'll be under better circumstances." She bid the mayor goodbye before going into the hut housing the teleportation circle. Though she did not enter the portal immediately, not with the sight that greeted her there.

The portal was displaying something Talia had never seen before. A city, built on a scale that was quite frankly massive. Compared to places like Waymeet, where one could easily cross from one end of the village to the other in a relatively short time, this settlement was massive. What was slightly more worrying was the fact that the Sage wasn't there. Perhaps she was waiting on the other side? But if so, why not greet them here and explain their next destination? "So... Shall we?" The sorceress asked, looking at the rest of the group.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Ho-ho!" came a voice from the other side, as a woman wearing a witch hat would emerge before Talia could enter. "All the tight security explains it! This is someone's personal teleportation spot!" she declared. "It's a miracle I got in, so I wonder what's on the other side... Oh, it's this town, and..." she looked at the Tiefling in front of her. "What are you looking at?" she inquired.

The light faded, and the group had a chance to . "Haven't you ever seen a witch before?" she inquired.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Kat blinked at the portal. The city on the other side was so big! She wouldn't want to ever live there. She'd go crazy with how many people would be around. Though then a witch walked through, and Kat's blinking turned to woman. She was rather...well endowed. Almost made Kat jealous. "I think Talia is a witch. I think? Though doesn't dress as obviously as you. Why you coming through portal?"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"Curiosity! Because I turned it on!" she replied with a smile.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Laya came in, blinking. "Hey is the sage heeeeuuuh? Hm. You're not the sage. Hand check.,"

She glanced at the new womans palms and the back of her hands. "Huh. You're not a chained or unchained. You turned on our portal? Is that the capitol back there? You seen an elf around there? Also, is that pants less look popular in the capitol right now?"
