(Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Talia sighed as Garland pointed out her lack of trust. She was slow to believe other people, she'd admit as much easily. Still, she would go along with Garland for now. It seemed that, while flawed and used as a pawn, he had decent intentions. However, they would need to tread carefully and find a way to ensure that a conflict between him and the knight didn't come to pass. That would easily turn into the worst case scenario. The key to that would be finding a way to break the influence Chaos had on the latter, from the looks of it. Still, the man's tale of the fake oracle made the tiefling wonder where their elf was.

"I think we can get along well enough." The sorceress shrugged as Garland introduced their guide. "Name's Talia, by the way." The girl would likely be a handful, but who wasn't in this group? "And I would not be suprised if those that use your colors to hide their crimes are somehow cooperating with Chaos as well. This could easily get messy." She mused. "Well, I suppose we might as well get moving. The sooner we deal with those bastards, the better."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Kat looked over to the other dogbold, and gave her a grin. Though she did do a momentary check over to size up the woman, both physically, and well, attractively. After a moment she decided that the girl maaaybe had her beat on the attractive scale, but she was stronger! "Nice to meet you Lula, I'm Kat. Good to see someone's treating you well here!"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Hearing Father Garland speak of her parents was rather surprising. He couldn't have possibly know that both of them raised her together and that her clan was very accepting of a half breed, even reluctantly for some. But the sentiment all the same was endearing and it did bring a bit more color back to her face. "Thank you sir. They did and I miss them still. I would hope to be as good a parent as they were some day. B...but I'm going off topic." She'd cough and clear her hroat as she tried to focus more on the matters at hand. Though is words were still sweet. "As I said, I would not want to risk open engagement in the streets. Too many problems it could cause and I'm not on familiar grounds. Cities are still...new to me. I've only ever lived out in the wilds or small towns."She sighed.

"So either way, we have at least two possible routes in. One a bit more on the direct side but gods only know the traitors wouldn't let us in without a fight. Unless we can convince them otherwise. But I doubt Chaos would bend so easily."The ranger put her finger on her chin. "The 2nd way, meanwhile, is a little more stealthy and indirect but presents it's own set of problems. I'm not as handy navigating man made jungles like this and the risk of running into those furry bastards presents a difficult task to be sure. But I am not opposed to the idea of cutting out the surface route. I'd rather not have an open brawl in the streets that could potentially draw in outsiders who don't know about the unsavory elements in your ranks, Father Garland." Strange...she wasn't using the honorific before. Why was she doing so now? Damnit! She couldn't let him distract her. She shoot her head to try and clear her thoughts. In that time, the group was introduced to their potential guide through the sewers. Another dogbold similar to Kat. Huh. Little down home but at least she was honest. "Always pleased to meet another tracker. You can call me Vylyra."

Weiss

Garland shook his head. "I'd never consider fighting an unwinnable battle. All that would do is doom the people who believe in me. I truly had no choice." he said, though at the mention of the chain, he sighed. "They did try to break my chain. Once, when the sage met with me. But I resisted her. I know not how the chain works, but it seems to be more complicated than a simple switch. I was perfectly able to resist Chaos' influence with my determination alone." he declared. "As for the knight king, saving him is beyond what I can do. I know nothing of cursed weaponry, as before this I was just a simple man. Now I'm a simple man popular among his peers. I'm afraid I'm useless against the supernatural powers of Chaos. Nor would I be able to help given the hostility the Knight King no doubt feels towards me. However, I will keep an ear to the wall for any info regardless."

Then, Lula nodded at her. "Sure thang! If I do well then Garland rewards me with a kiss! Maybe you'll get a kiss too!" she said, wagging her tail.

Talia

Lula nodded. "Nice ta meet ya, Talia! You smell good, like the other tieflings 'round here. I wonder if all yer kind smells so... Lickable?" she pondered, tail wagging.

Kat

Lula put her nose to Kat's seemingly getting the scent of the other of her kind. "Heya!" she replied.

Vylyra

Garland made a gesture with his hand. "And remember, I do offer you some of my men and women to aid you. If you want to take the direct route, you could employ their aid of numbers to at least solve the outside skirmish if there would be one." he stated.

Then, Lula wagged her tail at Vylyra. "I dunno how good I am at that, but thank ya!"

While Garland was explaining to Weiss that he didn’t hear anything about a cursed weapon or the curse put on the king, she tried to inspect him a little closer. However, the only thing Weiss noticed was his lecherous stare at her breasts and thighs, making her feel rather awkward. The stare felt embarrassing enough for Weiss to start adjusting her clothing, making sure that no unnecessary skin was showing. ''T-That’s… umm unfortunate, I really hoped that you’ve might heard something from one of the many people you know. Either way, I would appreciate it a lot if you could look into it for me, since I’m afraid for the city’s future with the knight king being manipulated by the corruption.'' Weiss asked while shaking her breasts and ass from side to side a little, hoping to give Garland a little extra motivation to look into it.

''I’m sure you’ll earn a kiss, Eldalth would be proud to have such a loyal follower as you.'' Weiss responded to the happy gnoll girl, before attending to more serious business. ''I’d rather avoid the direct route, it will only cause pointless suffering, and we’re not even sure if the kidnapped girls are there. Instead it might be better if we have Lula escort us to the mine or warehouse, since I assume those areas are less crowded and easier to approach for us, especially with someone as clumsy as me.'' Weiss suggested to everyone and Garland. ''Also, we’d be able to have Vylyra scout out the entrance beforehand, and perhaps we could capture someone leaving and interrogate them. However, I wouldn’t mind going with a better plan if someone has one, but I don’t think infiltrating a brothel without knowing how many guests or guards are present inside is the best idea.'' Weiss suggests to the group. ''And before I forget, Garland, I’ve got another request to make. I’d really appreciate it if you could grant us a scarf, we’d be a lot safer traveling on these streets wearing it, and amusingly enough, I’m sure we wouldn’t even be suspicious, since women probably join you all the time.'' Weiss said with a chuckle, as she found herself staring at his captivating looks, before turning her head with a small blush.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"I am not sure if wearing a scarf is the best idea, especially should the knight king learn of it. He might get the wrong impression." Talia pointed out, raising an eyebrow. "And technically we don't know what's in the mines or warehouses either, but the plan's good enough, I suppose. Even if the girls aren't there, it's likely the slavers have stored something of note in those places. Depriving them of materials would be a worthwhile effort. Vylyra, are you up for sneaking around?"

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Kat responded in kind, sniffing Lula to get the girl's scent, curling around the other dogbold to get at her hair and dog ears. She half expected to smell Garland all over the woman, but still good to get a fellow's scent. Though she would also take the opportunity to see if well, Lula was a fighter. Checking the girl for any muscles or the like that might reveal that she was in kind with Kat in that or not. After that for a minute or two she'd pull back and say, mostly to Garland for the moment. "Extra help would be appreciated. Kat happy to meet others that resist chaos. As for infiltrating Brothel. Kat could go, most likely to be able to stand whatever they do, and can dogbold hug things to unconsciousness if needed. Though not exactly the most persuasive..."

Laya smiles, watching the introductions, noting down some notes on a new dogbold in the mix. Interesting. She seemed the friendly sort, less guard dog than Kat was. Huh. A dog named Kat. She never thought of that before now.

"Well, whatever our course then, let's get it settled on and proceed. Time is of the essence after all, if they're doing something to these poor women. Pick a place, pick a method, and let's get to it.," smiles Laya.

"After we pick our things back up from the guards I mean."

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Lula wagged her tail. "Well, if yall are lookin' to infiltrate a less crowded area, why not make yer way over to the mines? Only one way in, but far less guards I think. At least that's what I saw when I went fishin' fer some tasty fish." she stated.

Garland hummed. "That's actually a good idea. Of course the king knight will not approve if he sees you, but as long as you do not leave the urban areas wearing them, you should be fine. Lula, if you would." he gestured.

Lula went to go fetch a large bundle of scarves. "Here yall go! Enjoy their silky goodness!"

The party obtained Father Garland's Scarf, one for each PC.

Re: (Open) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Weiss smiles at the gnoll girl, desperately resisting the temptation to pet the gnoll girl on the head. ''See, you’re already doing well, and you’ve not even started to guide us yet. I’m sure you’ll earn that reward from Garland.'' Weiss responded after learning that the mine would be the best way for them to proceed.

''Thank you for the gift, I’m sure we won’t stick out with these one.'' Weiss said to Garland with a smile, before grabbing the scarf and putting it around her neck. ''I understand your concerns Talia, but like Garland said, I’m sure that the knight king has no intentions of entering this part of the town, and if he does enter this part of the town, I’m sure we’ll be able to hear him from miles away, he’s not exactly quietest person I know, he might be even louder than me. Besides, in the worst case scenario, I’m sure you and Laya could convince the knight king that we’re simply using these to infiltrate Garland’s mansion, even though I usually think it’s better to be honest, I’ll be sure to pretend to not know what’s going on.'' Weiss explained to Talia in hopes to clear a bit of her paranoia.

''And Kat, let’s keep those types of sacrifices when we’ve got no other choice, and for now go scout out the mines.'' Weiss said, before turning her attention towards the gnoll girl. ''When everyone is ready, be sure to guide us as close as possible to the mine without anyone being able to spot us from the entrance, and once we’re there, Vylyra I want you to scout out the entrance and tell us when someone is leaving the mine. After that, I think we should try and capture whoever exited the mine, and interrogate them about what’s inside the mine and if they know anything about the missing girls.'' Weiss suggested, before getting ready to leave towards the mine, with Lula guide them.

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Garland nodded. "I see. Pray you don't meet with a trap, keep a keen eye, and don't ever assume you are safe." he stated. "Good luck, I will see about possibly learning about any curses the Knight King possesses." he promised.

Then the girls could leave, as Talia and Weiss were want to do.

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Talia took the offered scarf with a shrug, figuring that since everybody else took them, she'd stand out too much if she didn't. "We'll stay on guard." She promised, ready to set out. With the location picked and a guide to lead them, all they needed to do was get their gear back and get to work.

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Assuming everyone was ready, they departed from the home of Garland, and went outside. There, they passed through the porch and in passing happened to be waved at by a woman dressed oddly who was sitting in a rocking chair, seemingly enjoying the sights to see. "Ah, you must be the heroes the whole estate is talking about." said the woman, as she stood and "Seems like Father Garland has you running an errand for him? I suppose you're already one of us then. I look forward to seeing you join us in his bed chamber~" she cooed with a wink. "You poor souls~" she departed quickly with that comment, and went inside without further conversation, leaving the heroines with that and closing the door behind her.

Lula seemed confused. "Huh, ain't ever seen her before. Oh well, probably new." she shrugged it off and led the group towards the mines, a short walking distance that took them to a more nature preserved area, almost as if they were back in the wilderness, complete with trees and chaotic vegetation requiring clearing for them to pass. There was a cleared road, but for the sake of being less obvious, Lula seemed to take them on a safer route. Eventually, they'd come upon a mine late in the day. "That's it. The spooky mine. Dun look like there's any guards." Lula stated. "Which is purdy strange. Used to be all kindsa people here. Maybe they left for the day?" she theorized.

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Laya bowed as they left, and followed along, glancing at the strange woman with a raised eyebrow, writing some notes. "Hmmm..." Plenty possibilities there. One of Chaos' lackeys? It could be Chaos was doing something still without breaking his chains after all. Why not go ensorcel everyone around someone to make it seem like they had powers and such? All conjecture though.

Once they reached the mine however, Laya frowned further. "Haunted perhaps? Chaos imbued? One way to find out." Could be they were being sent into a distraction or trap or something. Hard to say. She glanced to the two not heroes amidst them.

"Fair warning, if there's danger, best get clear. You;re not... Built for immortality like we are. Better you slip out and do a daring rescue later than risk being caught with us. Assuming we can;t get out on our own and that happens to begin with."

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Talia's eyes narrowed as the stared at the mysterious woman. Who was she? What the Hell was that comment supposed to mean? So many possibilities, few of them good. The thoughts troubled her all the way to the mine, the sight of which soured the tiefling's already bad mood even further. "Spectacular." She deadpanned as she gazed at the structure. "If the place was important, they wouldn't have just left. Either they cleared out for some reason, are hiding, or got forced to leave their positions. None of these work in our favor. Do we move in together, or do we send a scout?"

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Well at least the scarf didn't look all that bad. Hopefully it would make the mission even a little easier when dealing with the rouge elements of Garlands operations. And hopefully the Knight wouldn't think they were suddenly working for Garland and see them as traitors or criminals. She didn't want to make a man with a sword like that pissed off. Her arrows would have a hard time getting through that armor to begin with. As they departed, a new woman would make her presence known and though Vylyra said nothing, she'd only cast a suspicious glance and wonder what her words meant. Why was she so eager to get them into bed? Then again, why was anyone in this world so eager to fuck them? It just baffled her. But that would be a train of though for another time. When they arrived at the mine in question, they'd find it...oddly quiet. No, this didn't feel right at all. Why would this be empty after Garland mentioned how important it was? Did they decide to abandon it? Or maybe someone caught wind of their mission already and warned the people in here? Ether way, she didn't like this sort of situation. It had trap written all over it.

But someone needed to investigate and sadly, most of her companions...well they weren't very good at stealth of any kind. So it'd be up to her to volunteer. "I'll go. Wouldn't be a very good ranger if I couldn't scout and sneak. Just have to be aware of any potential pitfalls and the like." She took a deep breath and made sure nothing would rattle around or make too much noise. Or at least noise that could be attributed to the wind blowing things around. Moving forward, she'd do her best to stick to the shadows and keep her eyes open.

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

At first Weiss waved back to the woman that waved at them, it was only the polite thing to do. However, after the woman commented on them, Weiss’ eyes began to narrow slightly, and she began to inspect the woman a little closer, trying to figure out if her words should be taken as a warning, or if she wanted to increase the distrust Weiss already had for Garland, or perhaps the woman was merely toying with them for no particular reason. Either way, once Weiss learned that Lula had never seen that woman before, she had the suspicion that the woman might either be there to warn them or to keep a close eye on them.

[Insight: ]
[Perception: ]

Once they left the mansion, Weiss closely followed Lula and kept a close eye on the road, trying to see if someone was either heading towards or away from the mine. When Weiss finally saw the ominous structure, and learned that the guards were nowhere to be found, she had a nasty feeling about this. ''That’s odd.'' Weiss said while wondering why the guards were missing, and if it was because they were heading to the mines, she couldn’t help but wonder how they found out about it. ''Hopefully you find something useful Vylyra, and I probably don’t have to tell this, but be careful, it’s very likely they might have set a trap up for us.'' Weiss said before Vylyra left. ''Since I’m pretty sure nobody saw us coming, do you think someone from Garland’s mansion warned them we’re coming, and if so, should we go to the warehouse instead, since they won’t be expecting us there?'' Weiss whispered to everyone but Lula, as Weiss at least hoped Garland wasn’t the one setting them up, since then it wouldn’t matter what place they would go to.

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

When Vylyra went off to do her own thing, and they were just waiting there, Weiss noticed several foot prints on the sand, as she was watching around for clues. Also, on the way here, Weiss noticed an awful lot of traffic going towards the mine, but very little traffic going away from the mine. While investigating the tracks on the sand from a distance and trying to figure out why the guards were missing, Weiss’ felt like she had to warn the others about the woman that waved at them inside the mansion, as she felt daggers crawl over her spine when she took a closer look at her. ''Perhaps you’ve already figured this out by yourselves, but when I inspected that weird woman closer, I suddenly felt chills go down my spine with fear, and I’m pretty sure she’s not affiliated with Garland. Whoever she is, she’s not someone we want to mess with right now, but also not someone we should listen to.'' Weiss said in a hushed tone, trying to keep her voice down as much as possible.

[Nature check on footprints: ]
[Investigation: ]

And after investigating the footprints and surrounding for a bit, Weiss was able to distinguish the footprints from each other and noticed a buried scarf behind the green vegetation. ''Ugh, it doesn’t look like moving to the warehouse is going to be a possibility, unless we’re willing to abandon three prisoners that just got brought inside.'' Weiss whispers while pointing at several footprints inside the sand, and the three shoulder width lines that were drawn in it. ''There are several footprints and marks of things that are roughly the size of a body being dragged inside the mine through the sand, and what’s worrying me the most, is that one set of footprints belongs to a displacer beast, or rather the corrupted version of it. Besides that, there seems to be a suspicious scarf buried behind the foliage, and looking at the footprints, it looks like that whoever brought the displacer beast got confronted by several people, but since there’s no sign of struggling, I can only assume that one side surrendered or something that something similar happened, either way, it looked like they were ready to fight, but decided not to.'' Weiss told the rest of the group with a hushed tone.

''So, from what I can tell, the guards might be gone for different reasons then setting up a trap, but I’m not exactly sure of that.'' Weiss said, as her face clearly showed that she wasn’t completely certain what happened here. ''Once Vylyra comes back with more information, we should check out the scarf for more clues, before carefully making our way in, since we can’t exactly abandon whoever got captured here.''

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

Vylyra

She snuck inside. Vylyra used careful steps and slow approach methods to go into the entrance in order to peek inside. She seemed to step quietly, no concerns immediately. Then she walked further in... To behold a room of mostly bare rock with some bizarre flag hanging on the wall opposite where she came in. It seemed to be the object of worship among the patrons she also saw in the room who thankfully did not seem to immediately notice her presence. There were four men dressed in leather armor standing before a woman dressed in black robes, all five of them kneeling in worship towards a feminine, demon looking creature who might as well be about 2 feet high in stature, still not towering over them even as they kneeled before her.

, smiling with adoration at those before her. "You were all wonderfully successful. I'm proud of you~ With the sightings of the heroes in town, it would only be a matter of time before they start snooping around. Doing things like, solving problems! Or turning a seducing mass rapist lizard into a civil person!" she declared. The woman at the front exclaimed. "Deplorable!" The imp nodded. "But not this time! Boss has a plan. A plan to really flip those heroes in over their heads... A plan so devious and secret... That I'm not going to tell you because the heroes will probably kick your ass and interrogate you!" she cheered, leaving the others looking confused. "But don't worry, you can't be killed for being a traitor if you have no method of betrayal. Just be sure to buy as much time as possible. Okay? We've left teeny tiny bread crumbs for those sluts to follow, but they can't come upon the surprise until the party is ready! Then... We'll brutally rape each and every last one of the heroes and break them into chaos minions! Now, for a more relaxing note, let's go over the book of Molgerra once more." she said.

That's when the collection of gathered evildoers started cheering. "That book is my favorite! What happened when the Chaos Dragon appeared before the really powerful wizard who owned the Volcano? Our mistress of chaos is such a smart protagonist, and those heroes are such amazing antagonists! I can't wait to see how she beats them!" the female occultist cheered, moving in such a way that made it obvious that she wore a robe and nothing else, nude from the front as the open coat of the robe danced to and fro with her movement and the wind in the torch lit mine.

The story to follow was overwhelming fairy tales and propaganda. Every character against the Chaos Dragon was portrayed as bad in some way while the Chaos Dragon was displayed in such a light that her wanting war to exist forever meant that she was stopping the forces of Order from destroying the world with their peace.

The population in the room seemed enough to make sneaking through highly risky. Possible, but risky, as it would require slipping through the light without eyes detecting her. But so far, she simply learned that the enemy had basic goons as well as some lesser demons as comrades. The rest of the mine was a mystery, other than how from the main room it split into 3 directions.

Everyone else

The sky become dark, and the crickets made their noise. Lula decided to break from the group and go fishing while they did their heroic thing. "I'll maybe cya when ya come back. Dun want no parta nothin' dangerous." she said, and removed herself from said danger to march to the river.

Some time later, as Vylyra was sneaking inside without coming out, the group would hear a patrol passing by. Friend or foe, it wasn't clear. But if they were to hide, they'd have an advantage in doing so. The description was unclear, other than that they were talking so loudly that it was easy to hear them coming from afar.

Re: (Open to New Players) Dungeons and Depravity: Revenge of the Unchained

"If there's a corrupt beast in here, then Chaos is likely involved." Talia sighed. Well, with the mine looking the way it did, it was kind of obvious. Well, it all depended on what Vylyra's report would bring. This could still be a trap or diversion, but the potential Chaos presence meant that the place couldn't be simply overlooked. They had to investigate quickly and figure out what the Hell was going on here. And there was also the matter of that strange woman. The sorceress didn't need anyone telling her that she was trouble. It was pretty damn obvious that the enemy had a hand in everything around here to some extent.

As she heard the sound of a patrol moving by, the tiefling perked up a bit. On one hand, she was starting to feel a bit dull and itching for some violence. On the other hand, it was clear that simply picking a fight was not a clever move. It'd be better to hide and see who was part of that patrol. Or listen to them: with how loudly they were talking, there'd be little trouble with listening in on their discussion once they got close. Glancing at her teammates, Talia quickly moved out of sight, hiding out of the way.
