I have finished work on a new update to my game.
In this post I will also tell you about the plans for further development of my project in the next year. This is important information, because you can choose which of my plans will be most interesting for you.
First, a quick overview of Update 8:
- The adventure continues! The first story quest in Nassau is fully completed;
- Added fist fight;
- Added 2 CG-arts + improved New Providence Island map;
- I also decided to attach the save folder so that you don't have to constantly start a new game in order to get acquainted with the latest innovations. Find the desired folder in your system files and replace them. The path to save can be, for example, here: %SystemDrive%\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\LocalLow\PurpleGray
It is a hidden system folder; select the required configurations so you can see hidden files on your hard drives.
I saved the game for you before the events of update 7: talk to Caitlin, complete her assignment again and after that continue the quest and find out what events it ends with.
Secondly, I want to summarize some of my work on the project. I have been developing this game for almost exactly one year. What have I managed to do during this time? The first aspect of the work concerns the technical side of the project: many lines of code have been written and many technical features have been added. Of course, not everything is ready yet.
The second aspect of the work is the creative side of the project: a lot of graphic and visual elements (backgrounds, characters, animations, icons, arts, etc) have been created and more than 13,000 words of storyline have been written. So it will take you more than 2 hours to complete the game.
I think this is a great result for an independent project. But you can make your own opinion. I am never against constructive criticism. Although I must apologize for my english. This is not my native language, so maybe my text is not very good. I translate according to my knowledge and abilities.
Third, I want to talk about my work plans for the next year. I see two development paths:
1) At the moment there are 5 female characters in the game for romantic relationships. I can focus next year on developing the relationship between our protagonist Francois and these girls. But in this case, we will stay in Nassau.
2) I can focus on the main story quest, in which we will gradually get out of Nassau to discover and visit other places in the Caribbean.
What will be more interesting for you? If you want, then write comments or leave everything to my personal discretion. For now, I plan to work on the game graphics. In the next update, I want to add improved versions of characters and make animations for them, without new storyline quests. So during this month you can write your opinion and determine in which direction I should develop the project in the new year.
