• Unpack and repack would need knowledge plus altering your pc to have it working
• Supporting would be troublesome
• Due to the game's nature, sharing a patch is the only way
• Sharing the lose game files would be sharing the full game
• A patch is easy to use - follow the instructions
• A patch is way smaller
• A patch will survive
• More and other reasons...

If you don't trust the file, scan it with your prefered anti virus.
If you don't trust the file, use the sandbox windows 10 feature or similar.
If you still don't trust the file, play the game vanilla.
