Re: Roaring Twenties RP (Special Hell)
Player Name - cross_grave/Grave
Character Name - Angus Armstrong
Character Race - Dorfiest Dorf to ever Dorf (Dwarf)
Description - A middle-aged dwarf of average (for a dwarf) height. Very stocky and well-built, has a large beard (and moustache) that's pretty well groomed. His eyes have the color of steel and his hair is a dark brown color. Tends to have a rather stern expression most of the time, but occasionally relaxes while in a good mood.
Items and Equipment - Aside of his uniform, long (for a dwarf) duster and a hat for protection from weather when the day's feeling lousy, he also has his badge and a .45 revolver, standard issue for cops who can handle a gun of that caliber well. He also carries a baton, but unless the situation really calls for it he tends to solve problems with his fists.
Motivation - Scion of the Armstrong family, Angus is the son of a couple who migrated to America from Scotland when the times got tough for them, hoping to find employment. Raised in relative poverty, he seemed like the kind of man who'd do well in a gang or even mafia - strong, loyal, and he doesn't give up easily. However, young Angus had a very specific dream - he wanted to be a cop.
With time, the illusion of being a man of justice who brought criminals to heel was replaced with grim reality, but Angus was a man of principles and had a fair bit of faith in himself. Even with the city being what it was, and the Police Department being what it was, he remains true to his ideals of being a good cop. Unlike some of the less moral elements, he's not on the payroll of any criminal organization.
On the job, Angus is a fairly straightforward guy who takes no bullshit. Laws were made for a reason, after all, and he's there to uphold them. That being said, he recognizes the necessity of bending a rule or two if it means doing the right thing and that stepping on toes of those more powerful than him might end badly. He also recognizes that criminals can sometimes, just sometimes be decent people who just chose or were forced into the wrong kind of career, and that not every bum on the street is automatically a crook.
Balancing pragmatism, law and decency ain't easy, but he'd be damned if he didn't do his bloody best. He's an Armstrong, and Armstrongs ain't no weaklings. Every day he's walking the beat, patrolling the streets to keep the people safe, he does his damned best. It's his job to keep people safe and he ain't letting anyone stop him from doing it. Off duty, he's a more relaxed and fairly open kind of person. He lives in a somewhat small, cheap apartment with rather sparse furnishing, but otherwise it's a fairly solid place.
