The first one was absolutely great in terms of gameplay, the second one.... not so much.... It's larger indeed but for all the wrong reasons, grinding cash and mobs is an absolute chose (some of the later enemies will just not do any damage to you but still take like 20 rounds to kill) and most maps have huge empty spaces to walk through, including a cumbersome world map which adds up to often more than a full minute of blank walking before getting to a resting spot and then another minute to get back to where you left off. Shame, really.
Actually, this is where a LOT of explaining is needed. I think the only thing I can completely agree with is the mobs if Gabe left them like they were in the last public release.
For one, said last release was I think in the middle of 2013 or 2012, forgot which but it's one of the two. And at that point the main story wasn't even done, and there were a lot of things beyond that to finish. The Tower of Despair, pretty much ALL postgame content.
I still remember how barren the northern wastes were, and she said she added more areas and content to them. As for the world map, I'd wager Namaria's as big as the first game, not counting the northern wastes, egypt, and the ocean and the islands dotting it. I think in one of her most recent blogspot posys she mentioned working in more sidequests to make some areas less barren.
All in all, a lot of work has gone into it since the last public release, and the full game is due in the next few days.
