Halley looks...somewhat revolted at the aftermath of everything. Not least because she'd served calamari a couple of weeks ago. She shakes her head slowly and looks at Marissa.

"So. Autopsy. And...you found things like that over there? And now they're attacking us?"

Marlisse waves Maria off as she's sent about her new task. "I suppose I'll let you get back to managing our supplies, before they go to shit. Especially in light of this damn... thing showing up."

The physician then looks to Halley and nods grimly. "Well, we found the dead one you're looking at now, and absolutely no shortage of cadavers. It's unusual, to say the least, for something that looks like a parasite to actually kill its hosts so easily. I'm no Reiko or anything, but with the behavior we've seen, it's maybe less of a parasite... and more of a virion, destroying the host that it uses to replicate. But uh... don't quote me on that."

She shrugs, letting out a long sigh, then turns her attention back to the charred corpse along with the others.

Mako sat, rather disheveled, at Lulu's old station, her eyes still on the unchanging game of chess, where the white pawn's advance waited for the counter assault from black's side. She had idly been making strategies in her head, considering almost where every single square Lulu could move her pieces to, and her own every response. A move that was would be absolutely perfect... or maybe... maybe she could move that other piece instead... no... she looked up as she gave a weak smile, "Lulu... hurry up and come back, I can't wait here for you all day..."

As her name was called on the roster to head out and help dissect the cadaver found earlier, she whispered an apology, "Ah... Lulu, sorry, but I need to get going... please come back before I do... okay?" Brushing her hair slightly, the biologist slid out of Lulu's chair and walked over to the captain, awaiting further orders.

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

After the whole flamer episode, there was a brief scene with extinguishing flames and tears being shed. "Poor Mako... such a loss for her, this whole monster shit..." Faye thought as she saw the biologist flee from the scene. Seeing no reason to go and interfere the girl's grief-stricken reactions, the pilot focused on getting some further orders.

Autopsy team.... great. But in the current situation, holding the team together was more important than personal grudges, so Faye bit her lip and went along with the order despite Mina being there.

A low whine sounds from beside Mako as she sat staring at the chess board and mumbling to herself. The dog nuzzled gently against her thigh before resting its head there, staring up at her with wide, chocolate colored eyes. The husky's tail began to wag slowly as it sat beside Mako, it's head resting on her thigh until she pushed the animal away.

RESOLUTION PHASE (without narrative because it's New Year's Eve and I've got to get ready to go out.)

No successes on any tasks.

Only 1/8 successes gained after basic rolling on the Autopsy Encounter.

Players may play cards to add dice and successes now. (At any time, Crew may admit defeat on this ridiculously bad-rolling encounter ;) )

I think that' s enough time. The task is failed and one die is added to the Alien Ship task.

-------------------------------------------

Halley set the surgical implements out on a metal cart and stood by to hand Marlisse whatever tool she neeeded... be it clamps or scapals or spreaders. The doctor made her incisions, recording her movements audibly on a recording device. Mako jotted down a duplicate copy on her notepad while Reiko snapped on a pair of gloves and put her hands into the corpse to pull out what appeared to be vital organs. The smell was positively unbearable, making all the women scrunch up their noses and take many breathing breaks away from the corpse.

"These appear to be human organs," Reiko mused aloud. "Nothing about them is changed. We'll have to do a closer examination under microscope to find out what's going on at a cellular level however."

The autopsy continued, as more of the once-human corpse's insides were removed and catalogued. Unfortunately, before the entire autopsy could be completed the crew was once again interrupted by a horrible scream...

***

Meanwhile, in the cargo bay, Riley and Maria were busy at work trying to get the cargo loader suit to work. Unfortunately, something seemed wrong with its power converter, and the stupid, overpriced piece of machinery was refusing to turn on.

"I see the problem now," Riley said with a grunt as she pulled hard at a power cable and removed its end cap. She held it up triumphantly to show to Maria. "This link cap is fried. Take a look at the discoloration on the metal prongs. We'll need a replacement cap, here, you stay here, I know where the spare parts are. Be right back."

As Maria stayed back with the powerless cargo loader, Riley disappeared amongst the labyrinthine stacks of cargo boxes labeled spare parts. Minutes passed as she strode down the corridors of crates, her footsteps echoing down the chamber.

"Hmmm, nope, not here. Damn, they must be in the next compartment over." She continued on through a door into the next room. Several moments later, two pairs of animal legs followed her inside.

"Hmm... bolts... screws... power cords... wingnuts... fuses... no... where are y-- ah hah!" With a breath of happy accomplishment, she reached out for a brand new replacement link cap. That was when the low growl sounded out behind her.

"Huh?!"
Riley spun to see not one but in fact several slavering beings standing before her. The biggest ones were in the shape of a dog, yet they were very different, the faces, the skin tone, the claws... and certainly the tentacles that wriggled and writhed out of it. Before Riley could react, the largest of them leaped at her, forcing the mechanic down onto her hands and knees.

"Argh! Get away from me!"
Riley yelled out desperately.

The creature mounted her quickly from behind, digging its claws into her back and using its superior weight to keep her pinned to the floor. Something cold and numbing started to spread into Riley from where the claws pierced her skin. With a horrible tearing motion and a loud rip, Riley felt her clothes being stripped from her body with seemingly effortless feats of strength. Then, unceremoniously, the alien dog-beast plunged itself deeply into Riley's defenseless body, knifing its ooze-coated, slippery member into the red head's trembling flower. It shot its first load inside of her within a matter of seconds, uncaring about its victim's pleasure, simply determined to quickly and efficiently infuse her body with its cum.

The explosion of unwholesome warmth inside of her, combined with the continued spread of paralyzing numbness in her back caused Riley's will to resist to crumble. As if it expected this, the dog-creature eased off of Riley's back and turned around, its dog-knot now locked inside of the mechanic's overflowing pussy. Riley quivered as the alien now continued to fuck her in this demeaning manner, taking its time to build up to its next climax. Despite her disgust with what was happening, Riley's body betrayed her, giving into the amazing feeling of alien penetration unlike anything else she could ever have conceived of in her own imagination. When next the creature came, Riley climaxed as well, simultaneously mixing her juices with the corrupting alien fluids.

All this time, Maria was getting impatient. Riley had been gone too long. Hoping off of the cargo loader, Maria went to find her missing partner. It was barely a minute of searching before she was drawn to the lewd sounds and amorous moans coming from the direction of the spare parts compartment.

Peeking around the corner, Maria was shocked by the site of her friend being assaulted in such a manner. Most disturbing of all was the subdued look of pleasure in Riley's eyes. It reminded her of how Lulu had looked just before she'd turned into... something else.

Knowing she should call for help, MAria sprinted to the nearest alarm station, pressing the switch that would send her voice throughout the ship's PA system...

Soon the rest of the crew were standing just outside the spare parts compartment, having brought along whatever weapons they could. By the time they had gathered, Riley was looking in worse shape, and the dog-like being had grown and morphed into something fiercer and stronger looking than before. By this time, the Riley that they knew had been completely overcome, replaced by a shadow of her former self who only knew the pleasure of being bred with by an alien master.

Mako let out a scream as she saw the second appearance of the creature, this time around, she didn't have a flamethrower cartridge ready to blast the creature, and even if she did, there was no way she could safely and quickly load one this time around. She looked around frantically as she held up the only thing she had on her that was slightly sturdy, the chessboard, holding it between herself and the monster as if it were some magical device that would protect her, her voice trembling as she squeaks, "R...Riley! What do we do? H...How do we save her? A...Anyone?!" She looked around frantically at her superiors, awaiting orders.

(I have stuff that can be played, but waiting to see what you guys want to do)

"No! Not another!" Halley remembered the descriptions of the vessel. Saw what had happened to one of the station crew, and then Lulu, and so had made sure to look to see where the flamethrowers were. It is said that fortune favors the prepared, and so it is now, with the cook blindly grabbing one of them and then running to the cargo hold.

To see her friend.

When she sees that it's Riley, the cook is shaken more. "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Hatred and despair as she lifts the nozzle, then triggers it, the last view she has that of her best friend in ecstasy, and the thing that did this to her. And then fire and flame to kill and cleanse.

Perhaps it's that she's spent so long in the culinary arts, but all she can think about are the smells, what foods they are like--foods she can never prepare or eat again now. Still....Riley was her friend...it's only right that she would be the one to save her from this fate worse then death....right?

It was worse than death? Despite that look of ecstasy and contentment?

((Flamethrower card discarded. Tentacle attack ended.))

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

All the blood and guts were somewhat unsettling in Faye's eyes, but she pushed through the operations until there was another shrieky distraction. "Should have known these things don't ever come alone..." the eager conspiracy pilot was already building scenarios of alien invasions in her mind. Joining the rest like always, she too went towards the cargo bay, pistol in hand as soon as possible.

As she had expected, there was a similar scene of sexual conversion there as well. This time the victim was Riley, already lost to the alien presence that had invaded her. The redhead pilot readied her pistol once more if needed, but remained on the side as she saw Halley whip up a flamer. This had worked last time, and Faye would let the cook do the roasting, even as painful as it would be for her.

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

"Damn, in all my years of practice..." Marlisse lamented as the awful stench from the corpse reached her nose. She had dealt with all sorts of bodily fluids from humans, and occasionally dead ones, but none had a smell quite as bad as this thing. Still not one to be outdone by Reiko, however, she did take a second look to confirm the biologist's observation regarding the familiar viscera.

"Those organs might appear human, but honestly, that smell is not," the doctor replied with a sour face.

She would continue to systematically extract the creature's innards until the alarming scream caused her to look up. "Are you kidding me..."

With bag in hand, Marlisse arrived to the scene right alongside the others to see a horrifying sight--not only that of Riley being ravaged by the dog, but of her features being twisted in ecstasy. Instinctively frowning in disgust, she kept her distance while backpedaling and digging through her case for an answer, but couldn't produce one. The physician was too distracted by the terrible scene to peel her eyes away from it, and thus couldn't bother to check her surroundings for a solution either.

As Halley was tragically forced to pull the trigger on the girl believed by many to be her best friend on the ship, Marlisse's shoulders could only slump as she watched helplessly. "Riley... " She shivered slightly as the normally detached professional within her gradually dwindled away to make room for a frightened, less capable woman in the face of the possible fate that could claim the entire crew.

(Retracted; no cards played at this time.)

Mako cowered as the bright flames were launched across the room, killing whatever was left of Riley, and the monster that had claimed her, she shivered as she looked at the girl, and at Halley, her voice trembling as she whispered, "W...Where are they all coming from? How is this happening...? This doesn't make any sense...! Why...? Lulu... Lulu... where are you Lulu..." She began to mutter to herself as she slowly lowered the chessboard, hugging it in her hands as she lowered her head, praying to whatever god was out there to deliver them from this horrible horrible situation...

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

Maria stared at the large frog, becoming quite uncomfortable with the size it could expand itself to. Almost scoffing at the thing, more at the disgust of the situation in general, she was happy to use the frog as an excuse for leaving the room. She barely manages to choke out "Yeah... thanks" to Marlisse as she's directed out, still bothered by what she had seen.

Putting it away in it's proper place, Maria stared into the cage, wondering what was so special about this stupid little frog anyway. "Amphibian experiments. In space. Hmph, sounds just nutty to me." She walked away from it, moving her arms in front of her large bust, rubbing up her biceps to her shoulders. Something seemed unnaturally cold about the holds tonight. At least, she was suffering from some sort of shiver. Having to preoccupy her mind and feeling slightly unsafe with herself anymore, she decided to seek out Riley at the cargoloader. She knew hew to work the machine better than any and felt somewhat safe when inside it, and as much as she wished anyone else was there to work on it, Maria just thanked goodness at least someone would be around for company by it. She saw too many disgusting and disturbing things way too quickly, and she would be perfectly content with crawling inside the machine and staying there for the next hour.

Catching up with Riley, she bit her lip upon finding that it wasn't working. The two of them worked together on it for a while, with Maria saying nothing about what was going on in their ship and staying very quiet in general. As Riley diagnosed the problem, Maria just held the old destroyed cap in her hands, and immediately regretted her decision not to follow after her as she now found herself alone in the cold cargo holds with a broken loader. Maria tapped her foot in place, trying to keep her mind entertained by any means. Despite knowing the cap was fried, she must have retried starting the machine 5 more times, trying desperately against all hope to get it running, or at least keep herself busy as Riley was gone. She wandered in circles around it, eying every piece of the machine, frequently checking down the hall which Riley should be retuning from. After what seemed like forever in her mind, Maria couldn't stand it any longer and walked off to try and find her.

The quiet of the hold was something she was quite used to. Spending enough time in them makes it very easy to recognize sounds that don't belong. Something strange caught her ear, and it sounded remarkably like.. "...no, she can't be.." sighing to herself. She walked in hesitantly, wracking her mind on how exactly Riley could have been so entertaining herself at this time. But her eyes came to something she didn't expect, and it turned her thoughts upside down. The girl was surrounded by these.. strange creatures.. but, she was dulled by it all, not even moving. Not wishing for a similar fate, and hurried by her fear, Maria took off on a mad dash, smacking the PA as she gasped and cried, HELP! PLEASE! Everyone! Riley's in trouble! Something... Something is going on in at the hold, the spare parts compartment! OH GOD!

She tried to gain her breath and go back, but she was scared to go alone, she made off to the path, but stayed slowed until the girls could catch sight of her and led them towards the door before Riley. Not thinking the sight could have gotten much worse, she was dumbfounded at the size of the monstrosity. Her surprise was cut short by a burst of flames coming from one of the girls in front of her. She spun and leaned over, her hand on the door frame as she cried and gagged, retching at the horrible sounds and the terrible freshly burning scent of the creatures skin, ... of her friend's.

((Taki -- You will have to wait until next round to play that, for hand size and card drawing purposes. The reason for this is that you might very well be infected before you're allowed to play that card, and then if you are infected, you probably wouldn't play it.))

*********

The dog creature and the ecstatic-looking Riley both are consumed by the flames. For better or worse, the horrid screams emanating from Riley's lips no longer sound anything like her. She stumbles forward towards Halley, directly into the fuel-stream, until at last she succumbs and her charred body sinks to its knees, then falls flat, burning motionlessly as the many tendrils lie still.

The dog creature then attempts to smash its way through the supply crates, but Halley instinctively switches targets in a snap and covers the dog in another jet of flame. The creature howls, smacks blindly into the chamber wall at speed, impacting with a loud snap of bone. The body falls still.

A burning silence follows. Laura notices the way Mako is shaking and wraps a comforting arm around the junior biologist.

"It's okay Mako. I swear, we'll get through this. Everyone goes in pairs now. No one's left alone. And you watch your partners close, okay? We're not going to give this... thing another shot at us."

***********

Alkannar plays flamethrower to cancel the Tentacle Attack. Riley is dead.

Moving on to the Alien Ship phase. Only one die on the Alien Ship means that no success is possible. Tassadar may discard a card to roll for Override the Computer.

Battle in the Cargo Bay -- All players draw one card.
--Crew: 2-8
--Skills: Mechanic, Cargo Master, & Tough
--Target: 3+
--Successes Needed: 10
--Failure: The Alien player kills one NPC.

**************************************

The skittering of tendrils can be heard up in the ventilation ducts of the cargo bay.

"One of them got away! It's still here!"
Veronica growled

"We need some of us to spread out and find it, but we can't ignore the research. We still need to know what we're dealing with here." Reiko added.

"Or get that damned communications relay repaired,
" Mina chimed in. "We need to get the message out about this, send a warning to the next ship, even if we don't... you know... make it."

(Dealing out cards then we'll move on to the exposure phase.)

The Alien Player places an exposure card on ToxicShock's character (Maria). A suspicion card is added to Toxic's card hand. A suspicion card may never be discarded and only passed if a specific task says so.

(There are 5 suspicion cards in the game. One of them says tentacle monster. If that card were ever passed to another PC, then that PC is infected and becomes allied to the Alien.)

Takimaru, as current captain, please select someone to discard a card to Bad Blood.

Marlisse looked over in Mako and Laura's direction. She wanted to say something, but given her current state of mind, could barely afford to. Doctors like her were brilliant in terms of one's physiological faculties, but more often than not were dense when it came to the emotional aspect of treatment.

The medic remains silent amidst the chaos, trying to remain calm, to rationalize everything. Nevermind the fact that anyone here could be one of those, she thought. The ship could be swarming with smaller ones by now. She looks to the suggestions of the various crew members as to the next course of action, and cradles her throbbing head with one hand.

Having just recovered from one attack, the crew were already being forced into another combat mission. Faye was confident this time, she was no stranger to combat and Veronica would be there too. Together the two of them wouldn't be easily stopped. Not having set down her gun since the last encounter, the redhead pilot was ready to go as soon as the vice-captain asked for it.

Okay I've heard no objections, so Mako (LDF) please inform us what Task (if any) you are intent upon attending this turn so we may move on.
