Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

Maria manages to scrape the disgusting remaining mass from her boot before re-entering the lounge. Looking over the faces of her fellow crew, she could see the mood still quite dark across her mates. She didn't know how many of those things were still out there, but she felt some sort of elation or some sense of justice that they out an end to the creature rather easily. "I think whatever happens, we should be ready to leave first. If we can get word to Earth or if we can find and hunt this thing, either way, we should be prepared to leave if some things go wrong.. But if it all[/] goes wrong...we can still blow everything up." The last point left her with a melancholic twist at the line of her lip. Surely, if they stuck together like they just did, nothing would come that far. But the fact that it exists as an open option was still very worrying.

New cards handed out. We're on to the Exposure Phase.

Tassadar, you may if you want and are able, place an exposure card onto a Crew Member.

Takimaru, you must choose another crew member to discard to Bad Blood.

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

Marlisse turned her attention to each crew member, looking them over one at a time and averting her gaze when necessary, so as to look less conspicuous in her observations. First looking to Faye, then Maria, and Mako... The doctor had caught the meek biologist mumbling to herself and found it strange, but refused to say anything. After all, she had just lost a close friend, and even Marlisse's own mind was beginning to slowly unravel with the recent turn of events. She didn't even want to think of how she'd act if something happened to Laura. With that, she gave her a longing look, hoping that she would never have to live to see any more lives taken in such an awful manner...

"Yes... if taking out a little bit of healthy tissue along with the malignant ones is what's necessary to remove the disease... then... ugh..."

She hesitates to finish the sentence, pausing for a moment to massage her temples... then simply mumbles, "But before that, there has to be another way."

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

The last to arrive back at the bridge was Veronica, and she showed signs of fatigue as well as a noticeable rip in her clothing, particularly around her bust. When met with questioning looks, she shrugged.

"Another one of those creatures tried to ambush me in the cargo bay. Don't worry though... I put it down." She raised her pulse rifle smartly and curved her lip into a wolfish grin.

Faye knew this to be Veronica's usual demeanor, but the researchers gave the woman wary glances.

*Veronica is Exposed.*
------

The alien player then plays a card: "I hear funny things down here." : Force a PC of your choice to draw two random task destruction cards, choose one of those cards secretly without conferring and permanently destroy that task.

There are 8 Task Destruction cards, 2 for each of the possible crew tasks. (Lifeboat, Relay, Battlesuit, and Research). This means that it is possible the player might not have a real choice, but the other players cannot be certain of it.

Tassadar targets Toxic Shock with this card, so Toxic (Maria) must choose a task to destroy. (I have PM'd him his choices.)

Maria hears some sounds as she's heading back towards the bridge, they seem to be coming from the direction of the cargo loader. Against her better judgement, she runs to go check on the thing, and is staggered to discover that the entire power core has been stripped from the engine, leaving torn wires and loose cogs in it's place.

"My god... how could these things know?" She turned and ran back to the bridge, informing the rest of the crew what had happened.

*Cargo Loader task has been destroyed. It may not be completed for the rest of the game.*

Marlisse, having first turned her attention towards Veronica with a furrowed brow, jots down a few notes on her tablet, in barely legible handwriting typical of many physicians. Moments later, she hears the news from Maria.

She can only respond with a blank look. Normally when something when wrong at the hospital, she had an NAC or some other lowly staffer to take it out on, but in this case, tensions were high enough as is. Between the pilot who had mysteriously taken out a rather dangerous alien all by her lonesome, and the cargomaster who somehow found a key piece of equipment destroyed without any witnesses, the doubt began to creep into Marlisse's mind about who was actually left to trust...

"You can't be serious..."
A frustrated sigh can be heard from the doctor, followed by the soft taps of her stylus on the tablet.

Playing card:
-"I refuse to believe this sci-fi bullshit!": 3 auto successes, needs mechanic; OR remove one die from Alien Ship task.

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

"Oh fucking hell, not you Veronica..." Faye thought in her mind as she saw her long-time partner emerge with a ripped uniform. It was surely her mannerisms, but one can never be too sure what was going to happen... This was something she did not like at all.

The thoughts were pushed aside for a while though as another crisis seemed to rear it's head immidiately after this one, looked like there had been a sabotage in the loading bay. Something needed to be done here, but the redhead pilot would still hold her calm for now. Veronica's situation had her extremely worried though, if the other pilot turned out to be an alien, she was not sure what to do...

(Gonna play "Hey! Anybody in there?" : Look at the top 3 cards of any Crew deck, keep one and put back the others in any order." on the hip new Crew Deck 2)

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

With both of the pilots working through the familiar pre-flight checklist, Faye and Veronica were able to swiftly identify the key problems that were cropping up with the lifeboat. There were several key components that had mysteriously gone missing - including the life support and navigation systems, which had been removed completely.

(Lifeboat shuttle gets one success)

Laura and Reiko did not fair as well with their own tasks. (No successes on Research or Satellite Relay)

Meanwhile in the viewing room...

Mina hit the static-filled screen as it spazzed out for the third time in under a minute. Something was wrong with the ship's systems, and without Lulu here to run a diagnostic, she might have a difficult time of figuring out how to get these holo-vids up and running.

(3 out of 8 successes achieved after the crew roll. Humans may play cards to increase successes now.)

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

As the group was deciding on what to do about the malfunctioning ship, a skittering sound could be heard from the hallway just outside of the viewing room. A shadow darted past the doorway, only visible for a fraction of a second, and then it, and the sound, were both gone.

Maria felt she didn't have much to offer. She spent some time trying to get the cargoloader up, feeling like she needed it's safety, but now she had walked in to find it had been completely shredded. Ever since, she's walked around with a little less hope for herself and for them all. She knew she had to find some other way that she could help combat the threat that was looming over their ship.

Mako let out a cry of surprise as she saw something in the shadows, shaking her head as she tried to reassure herself, maybe it was the dog from earlier... where was the dog anyway? Maybe it was scared and hiding somewhere... still, she tried to concentrate on the task again, trying to slowly go through all the evidence...

-"Maybe it comes in peace?" : 2 auto successes, needs lucky.

Mako began to flip through what little information they had, crossreferencing it with existing data, her eyes darting back and forth between several pages of information, before shaking her head, "I don't... I don't even know this thing managed to wake up... it doesn't make sense."

-"So how'd this fucker wake up?" : 3 auto successes, needs Tough; also put 1 success on Override the Computer (Alien) task.

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

"Ugh..." Marlisse muttered while staring at the holo-vids' distorted imagery. If there was any good example of Murphy's Law, the recent events could certainly make a case for it. Not exactly having expertise in the technological department, she heaves a long, exasperated sigh, really starting to feel the effects of the ship's missing crew on the mission at hand.

Re: Tentacles VS Humans Game #1

Working together with her partner, Faye managed to find alarming faults in the systems of the lifeboat, which they set upon to fix as quickly as possible. All the while, she kept an eye on Veronica's behaviour, not really seeing anything out of ordinary.
