As Syl was eating breakfast, Ridley walked down the stairs and immediately turned to the Hoothoot.

"So, who's your new friend?"

"This is Hinna," Syl explained, "Me and Rynne were out late last night when we caught her. We were losing, but I threw a pokeball to help us escape. She ended up getting caught."

Syl grinned and stroked both Rynne's and Hinna's heads, who happily nuzzled the hand.

"Interesting, so you caught yourself a Hoothoot."

Flare curiously sniffed at the Hoothoot.

Hinna just flapped its wings gently, "Hoooot."

Syl nodded and then looked out the window for a bit, "I'm ready to leave when you are. Just tell me and we can head out."

"Okay, after I get something to eat, we can head out."

Ridley ordered something for him and Flare to eat.

"Alright," Syl responded, watching Hinna and Rynne play with each other.

Ridley and Vulpix quickly finished their meal.

"Okay, are you ready to head down Route 102?"

"Yes, I'm ready. Let's get going," Syl responded before standing up. She took out Hinna's pokeball and looked the pokemon into her pokeball. She picked up Rynne and then looked to Ridley, nodding.

"Alright. Let's go."

Ridley and Flare led the way from the Pokemon Center to Route 102. The route was peaceful and serene wooded meadow with a small body of water to the north. A variety of Pokemon cries can be heard all throughout the route. There were trainers all throughout the Route challenging other trainers to Pokemon battles.

Syl looked around at their surroundings as they walked, wondering if they'd run into any aspiring trainers that would like to battle them.

There were three paths to take on this Route:

The northern path was more scenic and goes past the pond. But there was a small ledge obstructing this path and a small patch of grass, but least amount of trainers. The middle path had no tall grass or ledges, but was littered with trainers. The southern path had alot of tall grass and was more wooded than the other paths and had a few trainers along the way.

"Which path should we take? From the looks of it...we're gonna need to work to get through all of them...," Syl said, looking at each path carefully. When done surveying each path, she eyed the middle one. The one that had the most trainers. She hadn't done any research on trainers, and it would be rather nice to do so.

We can train and get more research done...

Ridley eyed the southern path.

"Maybe we should take the south path. That way we can have a nice balance of trainer battles and perhaps have a chance of encountering new species of Pokemon that may appear on this route?"

"Hmn. Alright then, the south path it is," Syl said.

Rynne exclaimed, "Ralts!"

Ridley and Syl started to traverse down the southern path. After about a mile a young boy noticed them and their pokemon and walked up to Syl because she seemed the weakest.

"You! I challenge you to a Pokemon Battle!"

Syl looked to the trainer that challenged her and blinked. She then smiled gently and nodded, accepting, "Very well. I'll accept your challenge." She looked down to Rynne before the pokemon leapt down to battle.

"Ralts!" Rynne yelled, indicating that she was ready to fight.

Syl coughed into her hand a few times and stood ready behind Rynne, "I'm ready when you are."

The trainer smiles and pulls out his pokeball and hurls it in front of him.

"Go! Poochyena!"

[Rynne has the speed priority over the foe Poochyena]

"A Poochyena, huh? Use Confuse Ray Rynne," Syl told her pokemon friend. Shortly after receiving the command, be it through thought or by verbal speech, Rynne shot the dark purple beam at the opposing trainer's Poochyena.

Engulfing the Poochyena with the beam, Rynne continued on with the Confuse Ray until it was nice and confused.

"Poochyena! Snap out of it! Use Tackle!"

The Poochyena was stumbling around, seeing double and trying to determine which of the Rynnes was the real one, taking its time, giving Rynne another opportunity to strike.

"Alright. You did a good job, Rynne. Now come back," Syl said. Rynne retreated quickly and Syl took Hinna's pokeball and tossed it into the air, releasing the owl pokemon. The pokemon fluttered its wings gently, hovering in the air with a slight bob to it.

"Hoooooot," Hinna said.

"Use Tackle, Hinna. And after that, use Foresight," Syl said. Hoot complied, rising into the air and swooping down toward the confused and dazed Poochyena in a full tackle.
