Re: The Colony

((Jenn is just going to wait around until whatever is going on in the command center happens, so don't wait for me or anything! She's a good lemming.))

"An AI, huh...? That's, um... Why, exactly, do we have an AI? Not that, uh, I mind, Kiera, but AIs are... problematic, aren't they?" Jenn says cautiously.

Re: The Colony

"Blocked off..? There goes my chances of getting any work done.. I suppose I have nothing better to do than drop that stuff off and bum around in the Command Center now. Thanks anyways Kiera. Oh, and one more thing: Please don't go all 'I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that' on us. That wouldn't be very nice." Laina replied to the AI. Heading inside the base, she stopped only briefly at her own room to drop the stuff off before making her way to the Command Center.

"Errr.... Hello Ma'am! I'm Ashley....." She replies awkwardly to the commander. She follows the woman into the elevator, trying not to fidget nervously and failing miserably.

Re: The Colony

"Sir." Circe saluted Cassie as the order was given and watched her enter the elevator. As Cassidy followed the commander, Circe stared at the Asari's back.

"Miss Ashley, the commander's heading down to assist some soldiers. Just wait here until I get dressed and we'll head up to the command center, alright?"

With that, Circe turned away from the elevator and continued heading to her room. 'Don't think you're getting off, Azure. I'm going to keep an eye on you.' She promised herself on her way.

A few minutes later, dressed in a plain, olive green tank top and matching pants, Circe returned to the elevator, hopefully to a waiting Ashley. Regardless, she'd head up to the command center as per Cassie's instructions.

Re: The Colony

Firelight Base: Floor 1, Freight Elevator; Commander Winters, Circe, Cassidy and Ashley.

"Don't be so nervous around me," The Commander said to Ashley, giving her a reassuring smile, any hint of the scowl from earlier gone. The elevator door closed, ad the lift began it's slow decent to the subfloor.

"Kiera, please disengage locks on the fire extinguisher," She ordered, moving over to the Sturdi-glass container. With a slight beep the lock was undone. Reaching in and grabbing the small red cylinder, she tapped it on the floor a few times, before turning and facing the opposite door she had used to get in.

As they reached Sub-Floor 1, both the rear and front doors slid open, with Cassie bolting out the rear.

Firelight Base: Barracks (South Sub-Floor 1); Kalica, Reya, Cassidy and Cassie.

Kalica and Reya both take a second to glance up as they hear the elevator door open; out from around the corner comes a black rabbit woman, holding aloft a fire extinguisher - the marine immediately recognizing her as Commander Winters. As she gets closer to the smallest little blob, she unleashes a blast of the chemical cloud, freezing the little thing in place. She moves over to Reya and unleashes another blast, her boots harmlessly being coated in white. The slime near her was too big to be frozen instantly, but moved faster than she had ever seen it before, sliding away and around a corner.

Before moving over to Kalica, she gave an order, Cassidy noticing that she deepened her voice and made it sound very crisp, clear: "Close your eyes and mouth and do not breath!" She said, raising the house and blasting the slime covering Kalica. The Runner did as she was instructed, feeling her body almost instantly free of the creature, which the woman didn't stop spraying at until it was around the corner. The Commander reached out and grabbed onto Kalica's hand, pulling her back towards the elevator as she glanced at Reya.

"Lieutenant, elevator. Now," She ordered. Reya followed after the Commander, glancing at the blue Asari that seemed almost familiar...

As soon as they were in the Freight Elevator, the rear door closed, with Ashley staring at the nearly-nude Kalica.

"There we go..." The commander said as she breathed out, taking the fire extinguisher and putting it back in the Sturdi-Glass case. Without missing a beat, she turned around and smiled a little at Kalica.

"Do you need a spare change of clothes?" She asked.

Firelight Base: Barracks (North Sub-Floor 1); Circe

As Circe changed, Kiera began to speak over the intercom in her room.

"Circe, I've detected an odd weapon that you didn't have when you left the base... It seems to be Orc in design. As you may not quite know how to use it, is there any way you'd let me disassemble it for raw materials? I'd study it first, of course."

Firelight Base: Floor 2, Command Center; Laina, Anne, Jenn, Kyle and Theresa.

The remaining group that hadn't been with Commander Winters went up to the top floor, waiting in the Command Center. As soon as they all piled out of the rather crowded elevator, a virtual representation of Kiera was standing in front of them, smiling.

"Hello!" She said cheerfully. She had changed from being a fox to a short woman, still orange, little bits of code running across her features, "Go ahead and take a seat anywhere. I've locked down every station though, so you can't really damage anything."

Re: The Colony

Cassidy watches the Commander's quiet appropriation of the fire extinguisher with some interest, noting that the rabbit had apparently experienced her fair share of whatever they were about to face. The Asari loosens her pistol's holster, though she had a feeling she wouldn't need it.

"I'd be nervous, if I were you. The Commander here has quite the reputation for.. well. I'm sure you'll find out eventually."

Cassidy follows at a relaxed pace, fingers playing over her pistol butt.. Fingers drop away from the weapon with a huff of disgust as she spots the slime, though. Damned creatures. For a moment, it seems the Asari might be about to suggest taking the smallest, frozen slim with them.. but she too gets caught up in the brisk rabbit's energy.

It's not until they're all bundled back in the elevator that the tattoed scientist relaxes against the wall, smirking.

"So.. Commander. You seem like you've had some experience with those.. creatures, before. Care to share..? It's probably entertaining.."

Re: The Colony

"Errr.... Alright....." Ashley awkwardly replies to the commander. Inwardly, she still isn't sure how she should behave around the woman, but she knows they are on the same side, at least, and it wouldn't be prudent to act as though she were afraid of the woman. So, as she stood in the elevator with Commander Winters, she straightened, and stood towards the back trying not to fidget.

She tried to to stare at Kalicia as she got in the elevator, though she had little success as she kept shooting what she thought were covert glances at the nude girl. Her eyes snap to the tattooed asari as she begins to speak, however, and then go back to Commander Winters.

Re: The Colony

*glad to have the backup coming to assist them she grinned seeing the effect of the fire extinquisher and then closed her eyes holding her breath as she felt the blast of white cover her. With the slime fleeing post haste she gavee a small eep as she was pulled into the elevator taking a deep breath now that it was all done* "thanks for the help back there and yes I could use a another set of clothes...and who might you be? You can call me Kali by the way."

Re: The Colony

In the solitude of her room, Circe couldn't get Cassidy's face out of her mind. She knew the Asari from somewhere, but couldn't quite place her, and the name she had attached to it, Azure, also seemed to come from nowhere. "Maybe it's just something from being out of it for a week..." She mused to herself as she started changing.

Circe was just about to pull her top over her head when Kiera's voice invaded her silence. Looking over to the weapon she had placed on her bed next to her own rifle, Circe nodded and finished dressing before speaking. "That's fine with me. It seems like their weapons would be more effective on us than them, so not much use hanging onto it." She walked over to the bed and picked up the weapon. "The commander's asked me to be at the command center though, so it'll have to wait until she's done." Shouldering the weapon, Circe walked towards the door. "Do you think another set of armor could be made ready for me before our next engagement? Even if those... thing's shots make short work of it, any protection's better than none." The last she muttered to herself before leaving the room and heading for the command center.

(Whoops sorry, forgot about this. Also, we might have lost Twisted1.. His dad gave him a time card to WoW for Christmas. >< )

"I like the new look, Kiera. I was never a big fan of the fox, personally." Laina said as she walked past the AI and sat down at the nearest work station. There wasn't really any anything for her to do there, so she instead focused on the rows of empty chairs here. The contrast between them and the few people getting off elevator made her appreciate just how minimally staffed the base was right now. There had to be more people out there, but it was still not an encouraging sight.

Re: The Colony

"Confounded...get off!..."

Dull clangs would echo through the hallway as Reya swatted at, and smashed at the slime clinging to her boots with an armor plated hand to little effect. Accursed slimes...Really not equipped for melee combat!... Growling in frustration, the marine would struggle vainly against the gelatinous creature...the situation seeming to only become more grim until...

The hissing of air, and the familiar"ding" that accompanied the elevator door opening echoed through the halls, followed by various footsteps.

"Stay back! There's hostiles on this flo-"

A cry of warning, would Reya have opted to give...one that was cut short, upon her seeing who the new arrivals were. Commander Cassandra Winters ,her boss that...well, she hadn't ever spoken to directly in person but... irrelevant thoughts for the moment. Stopping herself from dropping into a habitual salute, Reya would opt to respond with a bit of a stutter...before quickly moving to the elevator as ordered. Perhaps feeling a bit conflicted as to how to feel about being rescued by her commanding officer/boss.

"C-Commander Winters! Uh...yes! As you wish!"

~~~~~~
Once in the elevator however, Reya would...return to typical military grunt routine, saluting before standing still for a moment, rather nervous. She had never been too comfortable around the higher-ups after all, and having been saved by one...well...hopefully that didn't warrant a pay cut or disciplinary training. Odd things to worry about in the current situation? Yes. But...Reya was Reya.
"I deeply apologize for having required you to rescue us in person Commander. If not for my incompetence, we would never have entered such a predicament to begin with, Please forgive me for my blunders, ma'am. "
And right on cue of course...began military grunt instinct number two, appealing for mercy from commanding officers.
((Sorry for the delay. Was confused as to a few things/actually took time to reread the thread this time.))
Hopefully not. We just lost a pilot too.))
Firelight Base: Floor 2, Command Center; Laina, Anne, Jenn, Kyle and Theresa.
"Oh really?" The AI asked, spinning her virtual representation around in a 360 degree circle, "I only had it so Commander Winters didn't feel so alone... But now that my shackles have been removed, I'm glad to have a form of my own!"
As soon as Laina sat down, another hologram of Kiera popped up in the chair opposite the girl as she finished looking around, a placid smile on her face.
"I'd rather you not sit down there, however. I may have the computers locked down so only the people assigned to them may use them... I just don't want you fooling around with the circuit boards and such."
Firelight Base: Barracks (North Sub-Floor 1); Circe, Reya, Kalica, Cassidy, Ashley, Commander Winters.
"Reya, don't worry about how to properly address me. With the current crisis we're under, just call me Commander Winters. Saluting won't be necessary, neither will your morning drill-downs. The only thing I want you to do is make sure that she-" She pointed at Cassidy, the Asari, "-Just make sure she gets up to the Command Center and that she doesn't touch anything. Circe," Taking Kalica by the arm, she literally changed places with the android, the rabbit woman and the runner standing out in the hallway. Cassidy suddenly found her back against the wall and two Alliance Marines standing in her way (which, this was definitely not the first time such a situation had happened), "I want you to do the same. Make sure they both get up to the Commander Center and that Cassidy touches nothing."
Finally, she turned to Kalica, and smiled.
"So... I may not know your name, but you look to be my size. Come, I'll let you borrow some clothes for now," She said, taking Kalica down the long, lonely corridors of the Barracks. She stopped at the largest room, opening up the doors into what was rather elegant for a military living quarters. There was a wardrobe and a mirror attached to it, some old antique from Earth probably. There was actually carpet, olive drab, just like the sheets on her queen-size bed. The commander pointed at the Wardrobe, then turned her back to give Kalica some privacy.
"Go on, pick something out."
((Letting Dreana describe the outfit she wants.))
Re: The Colony
Circe was about to press the button to call the elevator when the doors opened to reveal the group going up. She had enough time to snap a quick salute to Cassie before being forced into the cabin.
"It'll be a pleasure, sir." She said nodding to the commander before she turned away. An observant person would see a faint hint of a smile on the bionoid's lips as the elevator door closed.
"Just stay near me, Azure."
"Just stay near me, Blue." Turning to Cassidy, Circe's smile was gone as she gave her instruction. Something was nagging her in the back of her mind. Shaking her head, Circe keyed the elevator for the command room and stared up at the floor indicator in silence as they rose.
"Hmm..? Don't trust me, huh? Ah well, that's fair enough I suppose." Laina stood up out of the chair and turned back to the AI. "So the old form was for Commander Winters' sake? That's.. curious. I wouldn't have thought of something like that, mainly because she doesn't strike me as the insecure type. At any rate, I'm glad you like your new image better. It must be fun being able to choose your own ideal form whenever you'd like."
Re: The Colony
Cassidy almost goes after her lapine on instinct. In fact, she's already on the Commander's heels as the sudden switch occurs.. and ends up walking -into- her two new elevator-friends. A push at the pair of shoulders, deep, black eyes flashed mournfully over their shoulders at the retreating Winters, before the tattooed Asari retreats to the back of the elevator to sulk.
Somehow, she manages to thrust her hands into pockets of a skintight bodysuit, watching the Marines with great suspicion.
"Fine.. I get an escort. But if I see even the faintest trace of handcuffs, you two are going on the list for the next lab specimen volunteer program."
Just as she finishes speaking, though, she blinks twice, three times in confusion. Between the flash of eyelids, one can almost see a flicker of black. Confusion quickly covered up with bravado, though.
"Watch your mouth, Marine. I know all about those dirty "Azure" vids you humans like to watch."
Filmed a few, too, but I'm not about to tell you that. These tattoos make the perfect disguise after all.On-topic, though... what's with me and the nostalgia? Not usually prone to flashbacks. I blame the bunny.
The elevator doors ping open at the Command Center, and Cassidy extends a sardonic arm towards the waiting group.
"Go on, my friends.. don't let me keep you."
Re: The Colony
Ashley continues to wait in the elevator. she watched the conversation between Cassidy and Commander winters with some interest, until the asari gets her armed escort. Then, the womans identity clicks in her head, and before she can stop herself, she says; "Hey! you're that asari scientist criminal..... Thing! The one who'd just been captured before this happened! I thought I recognized you from the news vids! But, I know I've seen you before then too...." The last bit is said under her breath as Ashley turns her gaze downward, trying to remember where she'd seen the asari before she'd been on the news.
"you must have missed it the first time. i Said just to call me Kali short and sweet. I appreciate this..would rather not have to go around naked if i can help it at all."
*looking through the closet of clothes she went with some loose fitting clothing a pair of military fatigues and just a simple black short sleeve shirt to go along with he rhopefully still intact boots*
"dont need anything fancy just something to get me through the day..but i may have to ask what that maid outfit hidden in the back of your closet is for later....i'm just kidding!"
*she grinned just poking some fun at the other woman as she dressed again and made herself ready to continue on with whatever they needed to be doing once more*
((I'm still here... sorta. I won't be updating Alduris yet -- I made everything take too much thinking, and while I have the overreaching arc set up, I haven't gotten the details down -- but I'll definitely keep posting here!))
EDIT: And Jenn is just hanging around in the command center, quietly and patiently waiting for the boss-lady to show up and the briefing to start. Not much else to say.
Re: The Colony
((....The maid outfit is not for Cassidy. Honest. (Was clearly Viola's!). Also, bad RP manners to post without allowing others to react, but feth. You've had enough time..!))
As she realises her escort are not about to leave her in the elevator alone, Cassidy scowls, tattoos shifting across her skin with the movement. Command room surveyed, and the scientist stalks across it to spin a chair away from the locked down consoles, and drop into it with a heavy sigh.
Eyes closed, then opened, for Ashley's benefit.
"You mean Doctor Mri'Lori. And no, I'm not her. Can't you humans tell a tribal marking from a gang tattoo..? The gold and silver edging on my runes rather clearly identifies me as part of the the family Kayi'randra. Yes, the good Doctor has tattoos.. but they're black. And written in an entirely different dialect, though I wouldn't expect you to understand such subtleties..! Kiera, have you admitted sentience yet? Tell these buffoons I'm not some escaped mad scientist..!"
That little speech given, Cassidy leans back in her chair, and closes her eyes to await Fluffybutt's arrival. Probably busy seducing that runner, which meant she'd be about ten minutes, yet.
