Going left was a wise choice, Alex found a row of washing machines to hide behind right away, nice solid cover. Not chance of tripping on lose clothes either, like out in the main store proper.
There was a nice little maze of large appliances that Alex could keep following along the store. Alex could traverse it at a good speed while still being stealthy. She could hear the zombies still, following her trail, but going quite slow. Up ahead Alex could see the room get lighter, as if there was an exit to the parking lot, but to investigate she'd have to break cover, though if careful enough she might not be spotted anyway.

Lowering herself as far as she could Alex slowly creeps behind the washing machines, careful not to bang any of them so she doesn't catch the zombie's attention anymore than she already has.
As the girl notices the room getting gradually brighter Alex's spirits begin to pick up, though then she realises that the zombie's may notice her far more easier as she moves into the light. Deciding it would be best, Alex continues on at the pace she is going, hoping that her stealth will hold out against the zombie's pursuit.

Alex skillfully made her way across the store, avoiding several loose objects that would have made quite the racket. The zombies were slowing in their tracking, going farther and farther towards the back of the room.
Slowly an entryway came into the girl's view. This store did indeed have a way out into the parking lot here. It looked clear, and just two glass doors stood between Alex and escape, though she'd have to be careful, the large windows and skylights had shattered, sharp glass littered the floor.

Alex lets out a quiet sigh of happiness as she hears the zombie's shuffling grow quieter and quieter as they made their way to the back of the room. Then as the entrance came into view she stops, gazing over at the entryway and beyond it Alex tries to see or hear if there's any creatures nearby. If she doesn't detect any then she carefully makes her way through the entryway, careful not to catch herself on any loose pieces of glass.

Alex waits, then makes her move. Despite her best efforts, she crunches a piece of glass, the noise bouncing off the store's walls. However, after a tense few seconds, it becomes obvious that the infected did not hear it, thankfully. The girl makes it back outside the parking lot, the same one she entered the mall from, but way down the side. A few feet away was the corner of the building that she could dash around, and continue on her way. No threats were in sight.

Alex was heading in the direction she entered the shopping complex, it was obvious from the lay of the parking lot. The girl was now on the far side, about half way across the block, though the parking lot area ahead was alot smaller then the one she'd already crossed, with the small resturants. Very little was there, only small debris that could have blown in. The region was lined with small shrubs, making a block to the line of sight. Alex would have to enter the shrubs to look past, or go to one of the small entrances and lean around, if she didn't want to tange herself up, though actually going in the bushes would offer more cover.

The street was mostly clear, but the buildings across it were in pretty bad shape. One seemed to be a small bank, the drive through had a car crashed into it, and next to it was a movie rental place, windows shattered and all the racks knocked over. There were some shuffling noises, like someone or something looking through the mess, but Alex couldn't tell which building it was coming from. However, she didn't have to cut through there if she didn't want to, the block was also surrounded by shrubs, so she could skirt around it to either side, though she'd be exposed to any threats out there that she didn't see yet.

Not liking the sound of the shuffling Alex decides to skirt around the bushes towards the small bank, hoping to use them as a shield from whoever or whatever was making that noise while hoping there was nothing on her side ready to attack her.

Alex got to the side without being detected. Whatever was inside was interesting enough to cause the noisemaker to not check outside. As luck would have it, going this way also afforded the girl alot of cover from all directions. The small commerical district went on ahead like this for quite a ways, while Alex would be exposed for a few seconds dashing across parking lot entryways, they all had bushes like this to allow her to remain hidden from outside the lot she was on at the time, though they'd do nothing against any monsters on the same lot.
Past this lot was a pet grooming place, it looked intact, that type of place was hardly a target for looters. Looked clear to pass too, though on the other side of the street Alex caught sight of a sporting goods store, perhaps a quick stop there would be in order instead, as it no doubt would have some nice things to use as weapons. The downside would be, of course, that the shop would likely be in the exact opposite condition, run down and looted, as searching it would be a high priority for any survivors.

Fortunately, the building was not on fire, though it might have been earlier. Besides the door, there were several large holes for someone to crawl through, in one place the girl could see all the way out the other side of the building! The place across the street seemed to be in alot better shape, but was up for sale, so there wasn't anything in it.

As Alex gets closer she hears a faint clicking noise from inside the building. It's almost in a pattern, like communication, and coming from two different spots, never at the same time. While it could be anything, with the recent events, it seems likely that there are two monsters inside. As if on cue, there's some shifting of debris, and burst of clicks from one end of the place, then the other. The monsters are doing careful, deliberate searching, if that's even possible for their intellect. The woman might still be able to sneak by if she skirts around the building, crawling under the window level.
