Food was no more difficult to find here than it was near her home, even easier in some respects. Gull eggs, wild rice and berries, tubers, and even a rabbit or two were all easy enough for her to procure, as well as fish in the streams feeding into the ocean. The two left on the beach would find that the water near the beach was a dark navy blue here, but from above the fluorescent creatures floating along were beautiful, several different colors ranging from light blue to gold to pink to green present among the swarm.

Ceri puts on a faint smile, but her body is tense under Naia's embrace. Her swishing tail stops moving for a moment, lying still as she prepares to approach the somewhat unpleasant subject. Naia had said it would be alright if she wasn't ready, and Ceri appreciated that. But if only her readiness were the issue. Her body was not kind to the miracle of birth. She couldn't even get pregnant. In the past, she'd thanked this gift. At the very least, the abuse she'd suffered would never leave her with physical consequences that she'd have to bear. God knows she had enough mental scarring to account for it. At times, it was a blessing to never have to worry about carrying a rapist's child. At other times though, her inability to provide a future with children would drive people away. It was never a sudden thing. There was always a period of acceptance. But Ceri had lived longer than most, and seen the distance her infertility could create as her partners got older.

"That' sweet of you, Naia, but I'm afraid I couldn't give you children if I wanted," Ceri says soberly, her recent cheerful tones reverting back to how she'd been when Naia had first met her. She doesn't pull away, but there' a bit of a tired look in her eyes as she turns to face Naia, "I physically can't. I'm infertile. I'm sorry."

Grimacing, she readies herself for the disappointment, which would inevitably lead to abandonment like it had in the past. Looking back to the ocean, she takes a deep breath and lets it out quietly. Maybe she was being paranoid, but there was a precedent for it at least. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted, she supposed. At least she got to spend time with decent folk this time, at least.
