Heh,to think some of the people here are rather hostile to the fact that toonpimp wants food to eat and water to drink, and that he might want to actually gain something from his hardwork,
He does do most of his work for free, although he does rather guilt trip fans who don't donate occasionally, but nobodies perfect,
I don't like seeing people ask for money for this work,
not because I don't want to pay for it or that he doesn't deserve it, I mean how many games are being traded around that you have to pay for anyway? Asking for money really wouldn't hamper my ability to play it. The issue I have is because it's a common psychological trend that receiving money for a hobby or passion results in an almost immediate dropoff of motivation and quality. Like I said, I think he's a good artist and I don't want another reason why he could be better.
The whole ulmf into code, occasional joking thing, is supposed to be a simple jab/joke, if you don't like the humor, fine, but don't go all out into a list of reasons why toonpimp is disliked and should be,
Here is where I think you missed a point of mine although I will admit to an easy misinterpretation of hypocrisy on my part. I mentioned that he makes fun of his own fans in a joking fashion which he does sometimes through codes, so when he does the same thing to us, it's really not fair of me to suggest that he's doing
that out of anger, not humor. However, I say that only after reading several posts of his critical of our forum and community. I can understand him joking towards his fans because they contribute to him and they support him. We as a group have nothing to offer him, so there's really no reason for him to try and please us if he doesnt want to, hence why I don't immediately assume it's just a joke.
If an artist meets a dead-end in one of his works, then surely he wouldn't want to waste what's left of it?, if you don't want to see the half-done games don't click on them. not to mention he hasn't left a game half finished in quite awhile.
Another point of mine you missed as I had clearly said that ninja mystic girl would be "considering his latest games, probably a finished product"
The issue I have with that is as an artist myself, we all know the dead ends we hit, but releasing is a defense tactic equal to that of "giving up" and settling for less. A passion is exactly that, a "passion," so the ability to not finish it spells out what about it? You're practically suggesting that trying to finish the game is "a waste"
Also, the game-name thing? come on, as if it's that big of a deal, get over it
I had already said it doesn't bother me, but I feel like he did it on purpose. Humans are beings of intellect and deductive reasoning, not just emotion, meaning it's possible for me to point out things without actually feeling them, ie: he can take the name and run with it. Almost none of us really think LM is coming out with Mystic Girl, so suggesting a title jack pisses us off is a little farfetched. It's not the fact what he did, but the fact I feel like he did it for the purpose of it. It's like trolling, I'm not bothered by the fact someone's poking me with a stick, but why the hell are they trying to provoke me? "What did I ever do to them" is the question I find myself asking.
If you want to talk about TPs lack of good humor and such, make another topic about it, rather than take an unsightly hate-dump all over the thread of his upcoming game, I mean really, The internet is rather short of english RoRs and any game that fills the gap should be welcomed, despite bad jokes,
or "name-stealing", really.
There's absolutely NO information in this thread about his new game because no real information exists, I've mentioned this several times. This thread serves no point, so it will inevitably run into arguments like this. I've been trying to point that out.
And there is no connection between his games and his personality, I like his games and am a fan of the RoR's. I love seeing the fact he's making new games, but I find myself constantly misquoted as everyone thinks I hate TP just because I dont like the fact TP fans think we hate TP.
It's a shit cycle of misinterpretation and stupidity because people can't read into points anymore.
*edit* I don't see why this should be closed. We always assume a disagreement is a flame war. Aside from me saying shadowman makes smartassy comments, I've not disrespected anyone in this thread, nor did I say anything of disrespect to TP, as I had only offered a hypothetical. Everyone clamming up and covering their ears in the hopes that someone doesn't hurt someone elses feelings by having a different opinion is a good way to make sure no one gets heard and we always stay in our safe separate groups where we never have to worry about problems again because we'll just never acknowledge the other party.
