Ismark nodded and sat down at the table, urging the rest of his guests who were standing up to retake their seats.
"So it is decided then. Sister Esvele and Sergeant Tristam shall guard Ireena's bedchamber tonight, to ensure that the Devil's foul touch does not drive her to an unwitting act. Tristam can take first watch with Ireena and Esvele will relieve him after she rests from her long travels on the road. Captain Rovana and Vita will take the Master Bedroom and will take second watch tonight, patrolling the house when the Lady Jasmina and I are done with our first watch. That will mean that throughout the evening and night two will patrol downstairs while one person is awake upstairs with Ireena while the others are asleep. Now... let us eat."
Ismark and Ireena, as good hosts and without the aid of any apparent servants in the household, together brought in a large bowl of stew for the gathered guests to eat, along with some hard, slightly stale bread that thankfully became quite manageable if left to soak in the stew for a bit. In their meal, the adventurers would find some sort of game fowl, soft, chunky cuts of vegetables like carrots and turnips, and a sprinkling of forest herbs. It was a simple meal, but prepared with care and attention.
When they were finished with the meal, the guests were led upstairs to get some rest, or to at least have some privacy.
Esvele and Tristam were each shown to a guest room that looked as though they had not been slept in for years. Ireena offered to sit with them before dusk came, but once the grey mist began to give way to darkness, she would mention that it would be best that she prepare for bed. She begged a few minutes to take off her armor and slip into her bed clothes before Tristam entered.
Vita and Rovana were shown by Ismark and Jasmina to the master bedroom, which had a large, four corner bed, adorned with curtains and embroidered pillows and cushions. Heavy fur blankets covered it, and it looked warm and inviting.
Unless any of the guests made additional requests, they would be able to begin their rest for the evening, until the first watch began.
