Vita got a nat 20 :D. Uhhh, dunno where she got a nat 1 yet? Gonna figure where tho sooner or later.

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

All right Blarg, I'll roll this stuff for you if you *allow* me. It's usually better if the players roll just so they can confirm shit luck, if and when it happens.

*EDIT* Okay, that was a very weird autocorrect.

Random inspiration for Blueslime to keep with the feel of this:

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

I would prefer to have the GM roll. I'm just used to it that way.

I may or may not be salty about a lot of my RP experience being 'okay I'll do this creative thing' 'dang you rolled a 4 guess you just wasted all that creativing I guess' and generally enjoy it more when I'm not involved in the actual RNGenerating aspect.

(I am not specifically talking about failing to diplomance Daddy D here to be clear.)

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

Right. Good post nonetheless, Blarg. It's enough to make the siblings appreciative and suffices to lay the body to rest and finish the ceremony.

Depending on what either of you do with Doru, I'm content to after this fast forward to moving down the road to the west. Do the two of you intend to press on into the mountains having started a bit later in the day then you liked? Or would you turn to the Tser Pool Vistani encampment? Ratka has desired to see Vita again, and Esvele would certainly know with her backstory that a powerful seer, Madame Eva, has her tent set up near the Pool (which is a small lake directly under the mountainside upon which Castle Ravenloft overlooks.) Madame Eva has been an old woman for as long as Esvele can recall, so she must be truly ancient. She is said to have the gift of Sight, and can use her powers to see the fates of others. The foolish suggest that she's just a con artist who leads newcomers on wild and dangerous exploits, but you have seen and heard her, and are of the opinion that she has true power and could be of aid in answering some questions.

Or go to the castle, hang out, its fun! Hentaispiders old character is having a blast

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

The violet gem has disappeared, as has the orange gem. Joe can't acquire the violet gem just yet.

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

Screw it, re-edited the post and made it piratey. Not gonna let this get the better of Rovana!

Warning, my posting rate will probably slow down as IRL schedule ramps up. I haven't lost interest in this game in the slightest, updates will just come more slowly and probably focused more at weekends.

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

Nuuuuuh!.. at least it IS the weekend.

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

*peeks in* So, with all the timing issues for posts, I wondered, if perhaps we could find a time to do some real time chat rp in this campaign? Now Rovana is off doing her own thing for a while, but if I understand Blues plans right, she'll rejoin you lot for the middle of the game, perhaps helping each other out at least at Vallaki, before things part again with her going off to do piratey things and face Dagon, while you stick closer t the main storyline around Strahd and Ireena.

So, with Blues schedule has to be on the weekend, possible for folks to set away a few hours on sat or sun? I'm free anywhere but sat morning and afternoon gmt, which is super early to early morning for the USA, cause I work every other sat.

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

Sadly, we're dealing with completely non-compatible time zones, come to think of it. I don't know where Diaga lives, but if you're in Europe, Pervy, then that's already spelling trouble.

Actually what's about to happen is that Rovana is going to end up at the Tser Pool encampment for the second time, whereas the other two haven't left the village yet - although you are about to, unless you want to fudge around with Doru some more.

I was intending for the possibility of Esvele and Vita being able to have a chance to consult the seer before that person's powers had to be used to restore Rovana to her normal body.

I'd still like to do that and get you all on the same page, but it means fast forwarding and making an assumption that the pair of you and Ireena would be chilling at the Vistani camp for the first night. If you decide to press on straight for Vallaki, then I'll have to just play things out with Pervy and assume that you pass each other like ships in the night with the timing.

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

Rovana could also be dropped close to the Banshees brother who I think was close to the pool, causing her to do that quest first? After all, being undead could be a great benefit in a banshees quest?.. though in her current, revenant like undead state, lewdities are kinda out of the question which is kinda bleh. :p

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

The brother is near the larger lake, near Vallaki.

Ah.. so all roads point to Vallaki, not much fun to do but wait with unresurrected Rovana. Guess she could try out how the ship pendant works, but beyond that..

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

Sorry, double post, but I finally realized..

Ravenloft is the Dark souls of D&D.

DM, wheres ma Estus!

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

I did a thing, because I had an idea that didn't want to rest in my head, so I wrote it out. Not that I expect anything, but if the main anti Strahd group needs a helping hand from more of a team-player than the piratei and the DM so pleases.... ^^

.. I'll stop multi posting naow, plz no hurt.

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

Hello everyone. Still around.

Pervy, if you would like to keep Rovana separated, from the group and onto her own story completely (freeing her up from perhaps needing to be taking on Strahd), then that's fine.

As far as your newly proposed character, how do you see her coming into contact with and traveling with Vita and Esvele and Ireena?

Re: Through the Mists: Out of Character Discussion

I feel as if the stories of the heroes could impact one another, for example, Rovana freeing the anti-Strahd Werewolf guy could help the other players out along the line, but I don't think she'd work well with the escort team mission. She dislikes Strahd but survivalist instincts kicking in after the castle scenes, will also avoid him if at all possible, rather stealing Ludmilla and causing nuisances for the vampire, given an opportunity. Plus she has a full questbook already. ^^

So yeah, perhaps seperating them could work well, timezone wise Rovana ought to arrive at the Vistani camp -after- the other two got their Tarroka reading, so I don't feel like she'd interfere much if we assume they head on to Vallaki... hold on wouldn't they also stumble upon the somewhat beaten up zombies plus rock-cave in Rovana created on the way? ^^

Anyway, TLDR, I think fully seperating her from the other two, if in the same gameworld, would work best.

My new character I wrote with someone more teamy worky and stick to the normal rulez of the campaign in mind. I could see her being discovered by the three, exhausted and unconscious, perhaps even under attack, owing them a debt for saving her and paying that back at first.. and afterwards we will see where the rp takes us. I think having a third and rather tough character along would also allow you to use the normal Ravenloft encounters for the campaign, cr 3 for three lvl 3s is hard but not undoable, and we got a decent mix of abilities, Esvele and Vita both have good consistent damage whilest I intend to play Sylvia as taking the frontline and not really dying. ^^
