The jump was easy, and within seconds the agile cat-girl found herself inside the mansion grounds. As Shadowcat came to the door into the mansion, she found no one waiting within the entrance. The inside of the large building was pleasant, but it still had the same ruined appearance of the rest of the town. She was in a narrow hallway that led to a much larger one, but as she stealthily made her way around the corner, she almost walked into a woman who was walking toward the hallway she'd been in a moment ago. The two stared at each other for a second, before the lithe, dark haired woman sputtered out; "Who are you? What are you doing here?" Her voice was loud and carried through the large building, but she didn't seem to be openly hostile, only confused and slightly frightened.

Re: Shadowcat (Dreana)

*stopping short and tilting her head to regard this woman before her as the silence lasted for a moment she looked the women over before the woman spoke up finally causing Shadowcat to furrow her brows at how the womans voice carried*

"ehh inside voice ya know. ever so polite to keep it down before someone gets belted upside their head...now considering this is all demon infested for a city how about i ask you the same thing..what are you and your little group of hooligans who just left doing here? hmmm? answer quickly cause i'm not one for being patient."

*Shadowcat made a point of straight out ignoring the question of who she was..after all even if she didnt kill this woman she didnt really care much for introductions right yet*

The woman scowled darkly at Shadowcat, her frightened demeanor giving way to anger. "You came into the wrong place, little kitty. Why don't you turn your tail around and get lost, before you get hurt. We ain't alone here, and the boys will be back sooner or later. Find someplace else to loot, or sleep, or whatever it is that you're here to do." She examined Shadowcat as she spoke, and a second after she finished, her expression twisted into a grin, and she continued in a slightly more sultry voice; "Unless you're looking to have some fun? I've got plenty of ideas of what we could do together." Her tone even held a glint of hope, as if eager to do whatever depraved fantasies that were going through her head with her. It seemed likely that someone had been spending altogether too much time in Artmirst, if she was being so openly amorous with another woman who'd just broken into where she'd been staying. Still, she wasn't attacking, and her stance was still cautious rather than aggressive.

Re: Shadowcat (Dreana)

*Shadowcat just giggled this wasnt one of glee or happiness at such responses but of mirth and excitement and having another potential playmate..though maybe not in the way the woman was thinking. she held up hands which were most likely still stained from her recent battle with the demons*

"you have no clue who i am do you...laying threats at me could get you strung up by your toenails while your guts drip to the floor...little deary i'm a worse predator here then those demons you boys are probably after..nothing that even attempts to prowl these shadows is more dangerous or bloodthirsty then me..now i will ask once and only once what you and your boys are doing out here before i lose my happy spirits right now."

*she takes one lick along a red colors finger moistening the blood upon it once more before reaching to poke the womans chin with the tip of a claw*

"better hurry and not think to lon on your answer...or this little murderess will be unhappy..."

The womans expression gradually shifted from one of seductive mirth, to one of anger, to one that was completely neutral as Shadowcat spoke, but the one thing she most definitely did not show in her face was any hint of fear. Disappointment, and perhaps even a little boredom, from the twitches between her changes in expression, but most certainly not fear. Not even when Shadowcat licked some of the dried blood off of her claws did the womans expression shift, and after her final proclamation, the woman spoke, her voice cool and confident; "Look, kitty, I know you probably think that that crap might be scary back in the civilized world, but, out here it only makes you look like an animal. And me and the boys, that's what we're out here to take care of. Are you understandin' me? We're not here for demons, we're here to cage unruly animals, like you. So, why don't you head off before they get back, and slap a collar and some chains on you. Or fill you full of holes, and leave your body to rot in the sun." The last part of her reply, when she told Shadowcat to leave, was delivered in a tired deadpan, but as she spoke, Shadowcat noticed that her skin seemed to have darkened slightly, and her aura had shifted. It took her a moment to recognize it, but she soon realized that the human had activated a power similar to the ones she used, and had armored herself in shadows.

*A single thought croses her mind and now all to ready to act upon it she grins brightly to the woman almost giggling a little madly*

"oohhhh is that sooo...well you know what i have just the idea thats gonna make this day all the better...i'm gonna go find you a present..I'll be back!"

*Shadowcat slinked backwards hand coming together to crack her knuckles before offering a playful wave she had a hunt to begin before turning to make her dash back to the door she needed to make up for some lost time on a trail that could be getting cold by now. As long as the woman didnt act foolish Shadowcat would leave her be in favor of going out to find that group of men she had watched depart. Today she would see how they enjoyed being the hunted*

The womans face twisted in confusion as Shadowcat issued her proclamation that she would be bringing her a present, but didn't say anything as Shadowcat left. She heard the door to the house close behind her as she rushed through the courtyard, presumably just taking the door this time since it seemed to lock from this side. Once back in the street, Shadowcat hurried down along the way she had seen the men go not too long ago, trying to find signs of their passing. It was much more difficult to track those who weren't directly in ones sight within an urban environment than it would have been in a natural one, but as she reached the first turn in the road, a three way intersection, she spotted the body of a freshly killed demon, one of the small four legged creatures that were now exceedingly rare given how easy they were to kill. It had been shot twice, so she figured that that was a safe bet for the direction the men had gone.

On and on it went, Shadowcat usually finding some sign of passage, but occasionally having to guess at what direction they had gone, when she heard the sound of guns going off in the distance. It wasn't too far away, and it was several shots in a row, so Shadowcat hurriedly headed toward where she had heard the sound, moving silently and sticking to cover so as not to share a bullet riddled fate. After another five minutes, she paused in front of a four way intersection, crouched behind a collapsed wagon that blocked most of the road, and watched as the group of men she had seen earlier walked into the center of the road. All six were armed just as before, with guns held and swords on their hips. From this distance, she could tell by their skin tone that they were all probably Anudorian, members of the humans tribes that wandered the deserts of her own ancestral homeland. They weren't speaking currently, but they also had two women being dragged after them by two of their members.

Both women wore revealing red robes, and had lithe athletic figures and long dark brown hair. They almost looked like twins, though it was occasionally difficult for Shadowcat to tell when she was looking at humans. They had their wrists manacled behind their backs, a chain wrapped around their waists, and gags and blindfolds on their faces. Each was being led by a separate man, who remained silent as the apparent leader began speaking in low tones, though it was morel likely that they were trying to be quiet in general, rather than making any attempt to not be overheard; "We've only got a few more hours of daylight. We'll start heading back in another hour or so. From here, we go North, and then turn East once we hit the first factories."

The intersection was wide and open, and offered little in the way of cover besides the wagon Shadowcat was already behind. Only one of the buildings around her was anything more than an utter ruin, and it looked to have once been a barbershop, and a fairly upscale one given that they were still in the richer district of Artmirst. It was getting later in the day, so the shadows were becoming longer even in the open streets that typified this area. Off in the North, the streets were wide and large, middle class houses flanked either side of the road. These houses usually weren't too badly damage unless they'd seen heavy fighting, so there should be plenty of opportunity for her to stalk the men, so long as she was careful and stayed a good distance away from the group, if she wanted to wait for a better chance to try and attack the men.

Re: Shadowcat (Dreana)

*smiling at the fortune of catching back up to the men she listened quietly and would thank the gods for the luck she was being given if she didnt feel like first killing someone...for now she felt a better idea was to move ahead of them and wait for them to come to her given she knew where they were currently heading. Shadowcat would make way for the factory mentioned to the north using side streets and alleyways to try and pass up the men using her abilities at stealth to sneak where ever she would possibly cross their sight and then move on ahead. IF she were able to get ahead of the men and make it to the factory ahead of them she would search a high vantage point in the factory to overlook their passing*

Shadowcat made her way through the town, trying to move around the group of men as they hunted for more victims. Occasionally, she would hear shouting off in the distance, and a few shots from the mens rifles every once in a while as she hurried to intercept them. She arrived at the factory district well ahead of them, and the first building was a large warehouse. Climbing it took almost ten minutes, as there was no way onto the roof without climbing, and the sheer metal walls were not designed to make climbing to the roof easy. As she reached a perch overlooking the street, Shadowcat spotted the group of men fairly easily. They had one more demoness chained up now, as well as two women in plain brown robes, and a man in plate armor who was limping badly and bleeding from a wound in his leg. One of the men seemed to be injured as well, clutching a bloody cut on his torso, which made their going slower. At the intersection where they were supposed to turn, they stopped, and had a brief discussion in low voices.

They were forty feet below her and still about twenty feet away from the wall of the building she was crouched on top of, so it was very difficult for Shadowcat to hear anything of what they were saying, but she did catch a great deal of grumbling, and talk of going back sooner. The leader seemed to want to keep going, but to cut the patrol shorter than it had originally been intended, since they already had almost as many captives as they had men at this point. they turned, and started heading West, to eventually turn around and curve back toward the mansion. If Shadowcat wanted to make some kind of ambush, now was the time. The wide street was lined on the right with more warehouses, and on the left with small houses and apartments where workers had likely once dwelt. All were in varying degrees of decay, with the warehouse to Shadowcats immediate right being nothing more than a collapsed ruin, while the one after it was at least a hundred feet away.

The sun was hanging low in the sky, casting long shadows everywhere except for where Shadowcat hid. The slavers and their blindfolded captives hadn't yet detected her, or at least hadn't reacted to her presence, as she watched them from her hiding place.

Re: Shadowcat (Dreana)

*shifting back from the edge of the roof overlooking the group she would slink back to another edge to make her way back to the ground as swiftly as possible and make way for shadows. Once they started moving again she would make her move. she would let them start moving and occupy themselves with getting their captives on the move before laying out a patch of shadow large enough to cover the group of hunters. Tonight she wasnt after the whole group and once the patch blinded them all she would make haste to dart into it making straight for the already wounded hunter. her goal in this was a quick skirmish..the death of the injured hunter and his head.*

(so in short.. descend roof stealthily, hide in shadows somewhere to see the group and wait, when group starts to move use patch of shadows large enough to cover the group and their captives, from there initiate combat with wounded hunter. yah thats the short version and is quite alot of actions but thats the plan.)

Perception: Shadowcat wins.
Attack: Automatic Hit.
Damage: 1 + 4 + 23 = 28 damage.

Shaodwcat crept down the side of the building, slowly making her way back toward the group as they advanced along the path, their captives in tow. She took a position ahead of them, crouched behind a pile of rotting wooden boxes in an alley along the path. Across from her was another alleyway, which had an open door in the center on the right hand side, and let out onto a smaller street that paralleled the road her quarry was taking. As they passed an alleyway, a man would point his rifle down it, covering it in case one should attack. She wasn't spotted, however, and she waited until the perfect moment, when the entire group was within twenty feet of where she hid, before she conjured her patch of shadows, the black orb being twenty feet across in any direction.

The men immediately erupted in shouts as darkness encompassed them, and she took advantage of the chaos to slip into the circle. She could see perfectly within her own conjuration, of course, and as such she easily avoided both the struggling captives and the other slavers as she headed toward thew wounded one. With a single swipe of her claws, Shadowcat tore out the mans throat, and he gurgled in pain, blood spurting out in wide arcs. He collapsed, already well on his way to dying, but one of the men, the apparent leader of the group, loudly shouted; "Get out! It's a trap! All forward thirty paces, and about face! Don't lose the captives!" He then immediately turned and bolted forward, quickly leaving her patch of darkness behind, and the rest scrambled forward to follow, trying to get out of her twenty foot orb of shadows before they could be picked off by the unseen assailant.

Re: Shadowcat (Dreana)

*well aware it would take her some moments to behead the man and this was time she may not have within the shadows she would simply grab for the mans weapon and take it with her as she made for the door in the opposite side from where she came. darting through it and into the parallel alley she would make for a hiding spot to conceal herself within. She would wait for all the commotion and chaos of the sudden attack to die down and listen for the actions. of the men. she needed to know how smart they were and if they would give chase to an unknown foe into a possible ambush or if they would hold their ground and wait it out. If the men didnt come after her she would use this side street to move along back down the path they would have taken in an effort to catch up and spy upon them again seeking to see their state of things after her attack. If they did come after her she would simply wait and see and look for another opening and opportunity to show them as being foolish*

Shadowcat sped out of the field of darkness she'd conjured rifle in hand, the dying man sputtering and issuing bloody gurgling sounds behind her, while the rest of the slavers and their captives scrambled out of the black orb. She broke through the other side and found a place to hide in the opposite alley, waiting for the chaos to die down after her attack. At first, the men all shouted, an assortment of angry or panicked curses issuing from the group that was currently just out of her sight, clustered about thirty feet past the edge of the ball of darkness, but after thirty or so seconds, the leader shouted; "Enough! Quiet down!" The rest of the men went silent, and for a moment, all that could be heard was the clinking of the captives chains, the breathing of the nearly panicked men, and the gurgling of the dying slaver as he choked on his own blood.

"Harrison, count the slaves, make sure we have all of them. Jacks is the one still in there. Everyone else, weapons ready, in case whoever did this wants more of us. I want guns in all directions, including the rooftops, whoever this is could be up there, and firing something else at us." Shadowcat heard a series of shuffling and clicking sounds, barely audible above the sounds of the dying man, followed by another voice reporting that no captives were missing. After a few moments, she heard the leader speaking again, this time in Anudorian, which she had at least enough knowledge of to understand, but this time his words were quiet, almost whispered; "We're leaving. As soon as this cloud dissipates or Jacks stops gurgling, we're taking the next left and going back to base. I'm on point, Harrison you take up the rear."

*would snicker to herself and stay within her hiding spot silently as possible going about disabling the weapon she had in her hands. she didnt want to leave it behind for anyone else to use so she sought to destroy any parts of the gun she could to make it unusable while she waited for the men to leave. If they left the dieing man where he lay all the better for her. her job for tonight was done she figured and all that was left was to collect and then leave the present which wuold happen when the men left with their captives*

(sabotage gun and wait for slavers to leave)

After several moments of waiting, and quietly pulling several parts out of the rifle she had in her hands and throwing them aside to different parts of the alley, the man in her patch of shadows gurgled his last, and the salvers immediately set off without another word. They had maintained discipline the entire time, even as their comrade died in front of them. After they left, Shadowcat would move to claim her prize, tearing off the dead mans head, and then tossing aside the now useless rifle. She knew that she would be best served to dispel her shadows, as her energies wouldn't naturally regenerate until she stopped maintaining it.

(Assuming you return to deliver your 'present.' If that's not the plan, just ignore this part.)

Sneaking through Artmirst as quickly as she could in order to return to the mansion before the slavers did, Shadowcat got there within about half an hour. She couldn't see or hear the slavers, so she didn't know if they were already inside, or if they hadn't arrived yet, but she doubted that they could move faster than her with all of their captives. The entrance she had used last time, the jump from the roof, was still accessible, and the door she'd exited from was still open and unlocked.

*with options as they were she decided to make this a quick little delivery and went to the fence that would be first seen by anyone exiting the door she had seen them use last time. scalig it quickly she would viciously ram and squeeze the head still it stayed in a position staring at the door with its lifeless eyes. After that her job would be done for today and she carefully and stealthily made way for her own little humble abode where she would find a differnt corner to curl herself into for sleep. Her previous sleeping arrangements would be left where they were perhaps to fool any who stumble upon the place into thinking she hadnt returned.*

No one came outside of the massive house as she mounted the decapitated head on the roof of the building, in plain sight of the door and with its dead eyes staring directly at it. Her work for the day done, Shadowcat made her way back toward the house she'd stayed at previously, but as she made it about halfway there, she came upon a trio of women surrounding the corpse of a fallen creature. The dead creature looked to have the head and legs of a goat, and a large hammer lay nearby. Its throat had been torn out, and a pool of dried blood billowed out from its body. Two of the three women were blondes who wore green robes, and the third wore a blue robe and had long, dark hair.

They were gathered around the body, talking in low voices, and all had their backs to her. They probably weren't demons, and Shadowcat could probably easily avoid them if she wanted to by dipping down an alley and taking an alternate route.

*curiosity was getting to her at the moment and while she slunk along towards the alley to move around them she focused as much as she could in an attempt to hear what they were saying before she would move off entirely. if unable to hear anything she would give it up for the night knowing when enough trouble caused was surely enough.*

As she slunk over to the alleyway, preparing to move around the three women, Shadowcat paused to listen in briefly, as her sharp senses caught part of their conversation. "No, we must go back. Jasmine will be upset with us for being gone for so long, particularly as she has had to care for the possessed one by herself. There is nothing to be done for this one, save to see that his body cannot be defiled." The woman in the blue dress spoke firmly, and one of the women in green replied; "At the very least, we must find out who did this! They must be brought to justice, if not by us, then by our kin! Leaving now will let the trail go cold!" The other woman in green glanced about skittishly, and said; "There is naught to be done, and every moment we stay invites the mortals that did this to return, and do the same or worse to us. Let us be off sister! Let the hunters have this accursed place!"

The woman in blue scowled in turn at each of them, but the first of the two seemed mollified by now, and simply sighed and nodded. The two in green began casting a spell, and soon the body in front of them began to rot away, until nothing was left except a foul odor, some blood and a pile of fresh earth where the body had once lain. The three women then simply started off, leaving the dead warriors hammer where it lay.

Shadowcat returned to her lair without further incident. It seemed like it had been visited while she was away, as the bodies of the stalkers had all been partially eaten, but whatever had done that had apparently eaten its fill and left, as she found no trace of it. The cat woman knew that such a scavenger might return when it next hungered, however, and she also knew that anything that lived in Artmirst, even an eater of the dead, would be dangerous. Particularly if it had feasted too much on demon flesh.

*frowning at her visitor she decides the better course of action is to gather up her belongings and gains from the current trip and make a move to a new place of residence. packing her things in order to carry it all with her in one trip she set out for the higher rent area of artmirst the area that would have been the nicest part of town before the devastation. It ould be there her next place of residence would be found.*
