he got a lot of positive feedback after that, and the post says the main reason is that he can't make porn anymore

Same post also says he thinks it's the stress from the negative comments which brought about the hiatus in the first place that has robbed him of all motivation to develop games.
 
I don't even remember seeing negative comments? I don't know, none of this seems to be coming from a rational mind. It sucks either way, this was one of the games I was most excited for and there's nothing else that's like his stuff. I probably have around 15 hours of game time across all the demo versions, I genuinely loved the gameplay and porn.
 
I mean dev released 3 complete games that kept building and expanding upon the same genre over the span of 10 years.
I think it is reasonable that at some point you feel like you've done everything you've ever felt motivated to do and it's time to move on. The 3rd game was easily in my "Top 5 RPGM games" list when it came out will probably still be there for a while until other titles introduce more modern and complex systems.
Sad to hear about the retirement, but who knows, maybe part of the reason is that this is not where the author imagined they'd see themselves in 10 years time...
