Witch's Chess Out of Character Discussion

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

And it'd also get it's own skill tree as it's so awesome, am I rite? ;P

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

How bout there is a skill called (Owned by the GM)

The only person that can use it is the GM and they use it whenever people give dumb suggestions or when people just have no common sense.

It's Awesome, am i rite?

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

So then Keylo would have to use it on you? haha
..oh wait, if Keylo uses it then that means your suggestion wasn't stupid, meaning it shouldn't be used on you... PARADOX

I guess I'm the idiot hehe.... oh god, I'm gonna get "owned by the GM" aren't I? :(

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

*Casts "Lady's Right of Expulsion on randomwords"

Say what? I think I already have a spell like that already. So sorry :p

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

Revised the sample character sheet of Reina a tad to reflect the memory traits/skills revisions...Also, I'm going to be putting up what I have finished of the memory traits/skills later tonight (minus descriptions for the latter) to allow people to begin character creation so I have an idea in regards to how many people I'd be GMing for...

One huge note on the memory skills/traits though:

All memory skills/traits selected MUST be supported by the Background/Memories in the character sheet or the choices will be DENIED. Meaning: If all your character did was slack around watching tv in her house for the past four weeks, and you give her acrobatics 2, gun (handgun) 2, melee (sword) 2, and a whole other bunch of combat skills/traits, I will deny those skill selections and perhaps make revisions of my own if I get extremely annoyed. I'm trusting that everyone has enough common sense to make the skills/traits reflect on the character background and personality itself, rather than simply selecting the best combat whore stat/skills, so hopefully that won't be too much of a problem.

That aside, have fun, feel free to ask questions, and enjoy the game hopefully sometime by the end of next week...~

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

(Oh I see, well you need to be clear!)
(Put up some character sheet instructions will ya?)
(And... fix'd I guess?)
(Unless, something else is wrong?)

... You do realize that Keylo isn't finished with the creation rules, correct?
~Version History~

Version 0.80: Finished descriptions for Standard and Memory Drawback Trait, as well as the Rules of the Game.

Also, you missed the part where Keylo was implying your description only justified maybe a single rank or so in handguns. (I'm pretty sure that's what Keylo's comment about your character's gun skill was about). Essentially, in your description you implied that, in the last three weeks, Mirella was taught to use a gun and visted the range maybe 3-4 times. Handgun lvl 2 implies having an average level skill, probably justified by a cop or gun enthusiast who goes to a shooting range to practice several times a week where as Mirella, as a beginner and casual shooter, would likely be below average and thus a lvl 1

I am getting this from this statement:
All memory skills/traits selected MUST be supported by the Background/Memories in the character sheet or the choices will be DENIED. (Also, Mirella doesn't seem to have actually done any acrobatics during her memories, you may want to add her practicing every other day into her description. Someone training for a turnament would probably be doing something like that.)

Of course, this is all guesses of what Keylo is saying, but it is something you may want to keep in mind given my third quote.

Thank you for the summarization Phoenix :)

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

Also, in regards to the creation rules...they "are" almost done in essence, except for the extra descriptions and such. But seeing as most of the unfinished ones have obvious names...You can technically go ahead and make your character in advance, so long as you follow the rules that have already been stated.

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

If a drawback says it's three ranks, does that mean it costs 1.5 points?

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

Yup... It's as you think.

Memory skills, unlike traits are capped at Rank 2 until Level 11, as your character’s memory should barely be enough to place her on an “average competence” at these skills, much less above the normal crowd.
I'm going to step in and try to clarify what Keylo has said again:

Despite whatever background a character has, the character will not probably have their full skills. They only remember 2-4 weeks of their life. Thus, despite the fact that the character may have been an elite hacker, soldier, or porn star, they will only have skills equivalent to having trained for 2-4 weeks. Therefore, even if the character has been training with blowpipes since they were two years old, they only have 2-4 weeks of experience, not over a decade and a half of experience.

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

Yup, it's exactly as Phoenix said. Your characters will get more memories back as time passes (or basically as you level), so as to help them improve their skills in such fields, but until then, they might as well be starting from scratch again since it's as if they only had a month of experience.

On that note... please don't make me have to pick traits/skills for you guys myself based on your backgrounds... I "really" don't want to have to do that...

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

I finished my character sheet, tell me what you think needs fixing.

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

Go look at mine also, hella look at mine all the time and see if I got more things to fix and whatever.

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

Her familiy was nice to her, she had a Brother which taught her how to use handguns and bought her to the shooting range every now and then and they were all excited that her birthday is two days after her graduation and they talked about it a couple days ago.
I believe Keylo mentioned this earlier, but that doesn't imply level 2 handgun proficiency. Maybe level 1.

Also, Tass: your picture link is incomplete. It doesn't work. You need this one: (You forgot the '&pictureid=1831' part)

Thank you Phoenix.

Re: A simple and elegant PbP game...

Indeed, thank you Phoenix for helping correct everyone's character sheets. Greatly appreciate what you're doing :p.
