Well if that had been the result it unlikely it would have been the result of one particular post, but rather a handfull of ppl's posts. And your specifically imo was pretty obvious that it was in jest really, so really doubt that would cause something like that.

Or you could just set the thread to watching so you get notified (even by mails if you so desire), every time a reply is made, thus not having to waste time checking the tread if nothing happens

Yeah please... it is time for and update when the translater is ready to post on update, he/she is doing it in their spare time for free.

Offering encouragement or as you said, letting him know that you're excited for a release is fine.
That's not what you did. What you did is simply nagging. It's annoying and childish. You literally asked the equivalent of "are we there yet???" or "are you done yet???"

Why is it taking so long?
Poor planning + Apathy + Being busy IRL

Do you even know Japanese? English?
My Japanese level is somewhere between beginner and intermediate. I made this translation by using my own Japanese knowledge + JParser + the best 5 machine translators. (Done through Translator Aggregator)
I also put a lot of TLC into it to make sure that I wasn't missing the intended meaning of lines and made sure that they all use correct English that flowed well. I'm a native English speaker so hopefully at least what I translated reads well.

Is this going to translate everything from the game?
The first patch I release will have almost everything translated. There will be roughly 20 in-game dialogue lines out of the 14000 that won't be translated due to me not being able to translate them without losing the entire meaning of what they said. I'm going to leave them untranslated for now and go back to them once I can get some help from someone who knows Japanese better than me.

The other thing that won't be translated on release is the monster lore/flavor text located in part of the UI. I'll get to them in a future patch, they're pretty much irrelevant to actual gameplay and story.

That would be neat! But there's more than just the rest of the editing, so I'm going to be patient. I already feel trolled by the progress on the Zero no Kiseki hitting '100%' (editing), but that's how it goes. After some of the other stuff I've played lately (and though I do appreciate the effort!), quality is worth the wait.
