Releasing the test version earlier is a good idea I'd say. More people testing the game will have it easier and faster to find typos and their like. Which also lessens the workload for you in the end.

We're all waiting eagerly, but we can't really rush the translation, please keep that in mind.

I get why some people want the WIP version.
A lot of translators tend to dissapear when they are close to a finished tl release (as an example take a look at the final game from the Black Megane Laboratory circle games thread)
So by having a WIP version around theres always the chance someone can finish the work if the translator vanishes.

And also because the translator was mulling over whether or not to give out the translation early for proofreading.

(Let's be honest, most of the "volunteers" just want to play it early. Not me though, too many other games to play that I won't have time for a second and third playthrough of this.... Rather, I'd just wait until it's done.)

I don't think you can actually fathom how much text was in this game.

It has 2-3 times more words than the entire first Lord of the Rings novel, that's a lot.

That, combined with the fact I'm only doing it during my spare time while working full time means it takes a REALLY long time, not even factoring in burnout or the fact that being in the mood to translate what is essentially pornography comes and goes.

You're right though, it would be an EPIK prank if I was baiting everyone for a year, that's a good one.

Im happy to see you alive dude, and reading how long it is made me even more hyped, good luck i know that it may be porn but at least its a good one, Tsukinomizu Projec games they usually have a really good plot and nice characters and romance, in my opinion they make the best eroges xD ganbare you are almost done, ill belive in you until the end.

I mean he have been posting pretty much once a month, though that said I geuss we are officially in his "I Died Case" according to his common questions part on page 7

I wouldn't think so. His "I died" case pertains to the end of december does it not?
Plus, we expect his updates usually in the first few days of a month so for me, it really is still end of November updates.
Though this is just my definition of an update being the compiled changes or wrap-up after a month's work.

On another note, I'm kinda curious, when he said this at the start of the project; "As for how long it's going to take, I couldn't tell you, but currently there is a goal to get it released before Christmas, if that's even possible." did he mean...

It was a joke. Since he scrubbed his initial estimate, all we can tell see is that Stiltzkinator posted his quote which read that he'll might be done by Christmas. He didn't specify which one then, and so it's technically still true or at least likely.

Indeed, and I was quick to point out then that translating this massive game by last Christmas was, well, a wild idea, for better or worse. I think them getting it done around this Christmas, though, whether before or a bit after, is more than reasonable given the volume of text and its context.

Maybe they really did mean this Christmas all along? In any case, I'm eagerly looking forward to playing this in English. I bought the game when it came out in JP, and would happily donate for the translation on top of that.
