I love my brother sometimes.

Me: *after unwrapping the present* "HELL YEAH! HALO: REACH!"
Brother: "OMFG. We are totally playing that together."

*after some conversation that I have completely blanked on at the moment*

Me: "The only sucky part is that we don't actually save the world in this one."
Brother: "Well, I guess you could say..... saving the world was just out of their reach."

Reach's single player was actually my favorite of the whole series, after maybe the original's. But that's just me.

in and of itself its not bad, but it does mean things to the cannon.

Not like I play Halo, but judging by the reactions of my friends after it first came out, it had some pretty awesome single player.

It messes with the cannon for everyone who's been reading all the books and everything, so some plot details really annoyed me. However, if all ye've done is play the games those details aren't ruined.

Still, in and of itself, it has a great single player as you said.
