This indeed seems a misunderstanding: "interleaving with kills" means simply "battles won", not that I *choose* to kill them at the end of the battle.
That seems to hold back slide into death debuffs.
I'll likely still need to reset those debuffs on Iron Maiden - using some of the deaths for it.
I can't quite find the other script/event that resets those (found only the part that applies/removes those debuffs, not the part that sets the var that controls that process).
Therefore, I can't fully check the other way of removing those debuffs. I only know that while I did get lvl 1 debuff for lampas early on (when I wasn't interleaving yet), I've grinded several skills already, yet the debuff level didn't rise.

The only 3 ways (as far as I know) to remove 'soul trauma' (心蝕 ) are to defeat said demon in fight (removes 1 layer per win), to ask them to remove it after you befriended them in My Room after 100 affection, or to ask Meira to remove it. Sadly, last option also prevents you from reaching True Mercy...so there's that.

...I'm not sure data support that claim.
Unless such check has been made significantly earlier, the final check for ending 0 is 13 friends and char at level 1.
Only if the friend count is less than 13 the remedies are counted.
So, unless that 13th friend (whomever that is) has additional conditions...

Also, I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing.
I was referring to '【ランパスの愛好肥料】Lv1' and similar passives.

I'm certain someone said here before (Anego maybe?) that receiving any help from Meira kicks you out of TM route for current playthrough tho.

There's a difference between Mercy and True Mercy.

Well, I guess so? Those are debuffs Kazuya gets after losing to a demon (unless you quit before he comes while in Milking Position). The ways to remove them are as I described above, I do not know any others besides starting NG+.
Edit: so it was Shrifted who actually said that. I guess we should confirm with them.
SAFE just means you're on Easy difficulty. Mind Corruption has no effect on any mercy requirements. As long as you have the blue text on the save file and you have not used assistance from Meira, you are on the True Mercy route. If it's white text instead, you have fallen off of it. Barring one specific example where it explicitly warns you beforehand, you can always use Chapter Select to fix any mistakes you may have made along the way.
Minor Spoiler (related): There's at least one time in the game where you will need to complete a chapter part with white text, then use Chapter Select to do something to get back onto the true mercy route and make it blue.

On a semi-interesting note: the non-elemental spell goes right through Iron Maiden's defense (even if the coat is still on; the data suggested so, still a little surprising).

Though the next question is: what's with the defense phase of a dance battle ?
I've managed to somehow get past the first one, but one for recruiting is far harder.
I get the offense phase most of the time, but defense rarely ever.

After playing this, I have mixed feelings. I thought the story was good, the writing was good, and the premise was really interesting / unique. I absolutely despise the boss combat / events in this game. Its annoying having to reply the same fights/events over and over again, as many of them are inherently unfair or same some gimmick that just destroys you.

Even playing on easy this game is so so tedious, which is a shame because I really want to keep reading the story.

Well, that's the lore. Demons are much more stronger than humans, and Kazuya only stands a chance because he can cast magic basically.

I'm sorry if this has been answered already but does anyone know if you can get the true mercy ending by doing a second run?

I failed the first run by using help from the girl near the cushion creature in hell and i don't want to do the second run just to find out that it doesnt work again because my first run used her help.

Also how do i enter the EX crystals because it didnt work for me when i succeeded my first run.

Thanks.

You need True Mercy to do the EX content.
Also, yeah, you need two runs to get True Mercy since you need the AP help from the secretary.

Just try it out. It probably won't go the way you think it does.

Ahhh that frustration is palpable. I can beat the game in under 5 hours from a clean save so I don't think the game's as unfair a you think. It just requires a high degree of understanding of the game's systems. So yeah, if you're losing a lot you might be doing something wrong. Come to the thread and ask for help and someone will probably help you out.

You can actually do true mercy in the first run, but you will need some guides, doing it blindly is almost impossible, only if you are truly lucky or grindy(some smartness to not use the help to clear corruption too)

Thanks for the reply. I'll do the second run and hopefully not screw it up and have to do a third run.

I kinda agree with TheUnsaid on this one, you just need to understand the game's systems for everything to fall in place. First big one is that debuffs are basically *mandatory* for boss fights, and many fights are made much easier with them. As soon as you can get them (as early as Empuse, even!) you'll probably to have one of either Max Sylph Storm or Max Cool Calm up. Additionally, tea buff is mandatory for all boss fights, and careful use of your items at your disposal and free magic respeccing to carry you to victory. You even start with the second most powerful item in the game right off the bat (Morphine), which is necessary for Iron Maiden 2. As long as you make sure to keep crafting better guns, it shouldn't be too bad as you work your way forward. I actually missed the strongest gun in the game, the Magnum on my first playthrough!

The only really main pain points throughout the game are Iron Maiden 2 (possibly the hardest fight in the game, mainly because of how few tools you have that early on) and Daiji, the penultimate boss (speccing yourself helps a ton, and the Lampas trick basically trivializes one of her forms so you can just recover in time for the hardest, the third).

I kinda really like the difficulty on normal barring the big spike on Iron Maiden 2, and well some people might not like it, it should be pretty easy to go through on easy if you're having difficulty with the game.

I think there are 3 spikes. Iron Maiden 2, Arachne and Daiji.

Did anyone tried taking Samael on with something other than MTTK or multihit guns ?
I'm trying to do it with the fan (which seems), but getting hit to hard with statuses/lust...

Daiji's weapon was good. That's what I used.
Don't remember status effects being an issue in the Samael fight though. It was a combat focused fight.

...so II found that intervention condition. It was well hidden.
Is there anything that's worth doing in the game clear room before second run ?

um, you can always back up your save data and play in a different shrift game folder while having access to the original.

Theunsaid your signature is messing up my focus lol
